Nightingale Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 This is my story. A year ago I had a disease and was very scared and unhappy, had a lot of pain. It happened I heard that song – Boulevard of Broken Dreams, it meant something to me. So I bought the record – American Idiot… That’s how it all started to me. Actually, they were my only friends through my illness.

M.J. Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 I just found some random burned CD in my car and put it in cuz I was bored a few months ago and it was Dookie and suddenly I have an obsession on my hands.
Sara Armstrong Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 the radio (like a week or 2 before american idiot came out) got me into them.
53rd and 3rd Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Well there's this kid named Bryan. And when we were in 6th grade, American Idiot came out. Bryan is kind of a bitch to me, but he introduced me to Green Day. I listened to American Idiot (the album not the song) and wanted more than that. Next for me was Dookie, recommended by a friend. And I wanted more and more and more and more and here I am now. That's the story.(P.S. Just because American Idiot got me into Green Day dosn't mean I am less of a fan than anyone else.)
Adine Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 First time I heard Green Day, I was in school and some of my classmates keep playing When I Come Around.. And I fall in love with that song.. Unfortunately, I forgot the band's name and it took a long time to realized that the song was played by Green Day. When I got that, I went to the mall and bought their all albums that were released by that time.So I turned to Green Day at the moment I had heard about their music.. almost
DearlyBeloved25 Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Welllllll. A few years back I heard Good Riddance and was like "aww that's an awesome song" But I didn't listen to Green Day cuz the only music I liked then was showtunes. bleh. ANYWAYS then when they performed American Idiot at the Grammy's I was like "Wow they're pretty good...they wear a little too much eyeliner...but they're cool." And I heard the song American Idiot a lot and was always like "I need to find out what band did this song...it's addicting" THEN I was at my cousin's house and she was listening to Boulevard, and I was like "isnt this the same band that did American Idiot?" And THEN a month later my dad was listening to wake me up...and that's where it officially started...I looked them up, listened to other songs, listened for a while...bought American Idiot...Bought international superhits...And yeah now I'm here saying how I got started. I can't really be called a loyal fan cuz I've only liked them for a few months, but I don't just like them, I love them. So yeah. also to add to that I don't just like them cuz they're hot, even if they were butt ugly I'd like them because they're music is so powerful and has a lot of meaning. They're different than your typical song about the person you love or breaking up...Good stuff. lol sorry I had to say that before people judge me because American Idiot was my first album. ::shrugs::From there I've also gotten my family and a few friends totally in love with Green day. hehe. especially my best friend Katie Rose, she loves them just as much as me...well...ehhh...maybe.

The Nobody Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I'd always known who they were, but I never really heard any of their music. But last year just before summer vacation I heard that Green Day were playing on Roskilde Festival and they played an effed up version of When I Come Around (in the commercial), and I thought 'hey, that was my favourite song when I was a kid'. I started doing a bit of a scavenger hunt in the basement 'cause my dad liked their old stuff and I found pretty much all their records except Warning and a couple of rare bootlegs. So I thank the radio and my dad.
x.dani.x Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 a few years ago me and my cuzzin were at our grandmas house and we saw longview on t.v and my cuzzin went crazy and she new all the words and i was amazed how awseom they were and because i wansn't used to that music at the time. now i love them and bought all there cds GD FOR LIfe WOo hoo
Ari Glewen Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I actually don't remember what got me into Green Day exactly...My dad (aka the AWESOME ONE) told me when I was 4, they were playing 'Longview' and 'Basket Case' constantly on MuchMusic, and I would turn on the TV just to watch it...of course, I had NO IDEA what they were singing about when I was 4...now it makes me giggle, and I'm 16.
Christa Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 I looked and I can't find a thread on this. So how did you get into GD?My Uncle Timmy would constantly play Nimrod everytime I went over his house.Kind of got me hooked and I asked for the cd for christmas and got it. Chyeah, been a fan ever since.
greendayalltheway Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 My brother got me in to them the first time. (circa 1994) but it wore off after a while. then a colleague sold me his copy of A.I. and now it stuck.
