ArmatageShanks39 Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 aren't they one of your favorite bands, or do you just like to list bands that are considered "cool" and "punk?" if i wanted to look cool or "punk" i sure as hell wouldnt be on a green day site, or wear green day shirts to school all the time.
JunkiexHeart Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 if i wanted to look cool or "punk" i sure as hell wouldnt be on a green day site, or wear green day shirts to school all the time. ...Even though Green Day are considerd almost thee 'coolest' band at the moment.
DeathOrGlory Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 if i wanted to look cool or "punk" i sure as hell wouldnt be on a green day site, or wear green day shirts to school all the time. what? green day is basically THE cool band to like right now
justcause Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 So Johnny's at it again, looking for a bit of publicity! His status as an icon can't be denied, but I can't make up my mind whether I find this punk pissing-contest thing more tedious than entertaining at this point. He's making himself out to be the keeper of the flame, but I think he's just bitter - if the Pistols had made as much cash as GD, I think Johnny would have been happy to broaden his notions of punk to accommodate it. I suppose he could be more gracious to the young pretenders, but then that would be a bit disappointing too! Whatever shit he talks, Johnny is who he is - the owner of that snarling white face that frightened the life out of 'decent people' back in the day. Props to him, no matter what!
ArmatageShanks39 Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 ...Even though Green Day are considerd almost thee 'coolest' band at the moment. they are hated in the "punk" community, and most other people think its really uncool to like popular music here. EVERYONE calls em sellouts when i mention em. anyway, back to the topic.
JunkiexHeart Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Wasn't it the Buzzcocks who were all "Green Day aren't punk!" and hardly anyone cared. but mention someone who they have hearrrd offfff. and the world's ending. they are hated in the "punk" community. Well, 'punk' isn't considered cool either. Really, you can't deny it. Green day ARE considered 'cool'
mclaren Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 i don't even blame the guy for being jealous. if all these people today were making millions off of something i helped sparked, i'd be pissed to. then again, if i was him, i'd hide in shame for the rest of my life.
Guest Phoebe. Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 My friend's dad went to see the Sex Pistols, apparently there was a lot of spitting and beer
Bobobabattan Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 hm.. interesting.. i don't really care. i'm a big fan of green day, and the sex pistols. its not like he punched tre cool or anything. its just some silly words. no biggy. "plonk?" lol. thats a nice comeback..
owain Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 who gives a fuck? john lydon said green day arent punk anyone with any sense knew that they havent been considered punk as it were in ages!
JunkiexHeart Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 My friend's dad went to see the Sex Pistols, apparently there was a lot of spitting and beer Sounds like a good gig.

Green day ARE considered 'cool' i donno where the hell you live. here everyone wants to be some big rebel or somthing, and everyone says "i used to like green day, now theyre sellouts and they suck". thats how it goes in high school anyway.
JunkiexHeart Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Well, generally. In the world. they are.
Pepsi and Coke Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Their both great bands. Plonk?? maybe he was thinking of dookie & kerplunk at the time.
DeathOrGlory Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Wasn't it the Buzzcocks who were all "Green Day aren't punk!" and hardly anyone cared. but mention someone who they have hearrrd offfff. and the world's ending. yeah, I think Diggle actually said right to them that they were not punk or something like that And I don't like John Lydon much, but I can't say I totally disagree with what he's saying Their both great bands. Plonk?? maybe he was thinking of dookie & kerplunk at the time. that must be it

Guest Phoebe. Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Plonk, in my experience it can be used in a few ways. Plonk meaning Champagne, "Bottle o' Plonk". Plonker meaning someone of below average intelligence. Plonk used in the context of "put" or "place"; "just plonk that on the table"
JunkiexHeart Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Plonk, in my experience it can be used in a few ways. Plonk meaning Champagne, "Bottle o' Plonk". Plonker meaning someone of below average intelligence. Plonk used in the context of "put" or "place"; "just plonk that on the table" I thought of 'plonker' first. Really, it's just like. a shit punk.
punkthepony Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 I think the Sex Pistols suck. Really suck. I just find it funny that he talks as if he's in any position to decide what is and isn't punk. Innit. Punk isn't all fighting the law, mashed-up teeth and safety pins any more, Green Day's punk style (music, attitude clothing) is just a different sort of punk. He's just bitter and regretfull. Iselilja Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Edit: Oh yeah, and my family are in debt by hundreds of pounds, we're getting poorer by the second. we need every penny we can find. Sell out? or just wanting the best for my family? how ironic. and you are talking about spending money on drugs? yeah, nice way helping your family who need every penny you can find.
JunkiexHeart Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 how ironic. and you are talking about spending money on drugs? yeah, nice way helping your family who need every penny you can find. I save up for my own shit alreet? Like I'm gonna turn down doing something I love for an extra £10. + i'm spening my OWN money, rather than blagging money off my parents.
mbk Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 I've mentioned this before, but back in 1995 the Sex Pistols had a shameless reunion tour they called the Filthy Lucre Tour, to cash in on punk's resurgence in popularity after the release of Dookie. Not too proud to ride their coattails then...
