Kali Fallon Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 The first time I ever heard a Green Day song was on a friend's website. It was Boulevard of Broken Dreams. I fell in love with the band after that song. I bought American Idiot last May. Now I have four of their cds. My parents are assholes and wouldn't let me go to their concert.
Kazza Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I haven't seen them live yet but my friend (who also posts on here) is the person who requests Christie Road at Astoria 98. And I am so happy about that.*mwah*

.a.girl.called.kill. Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Ok... my story is a little weird.I've been a fan of their music since Dookie came out, but I didn't know about their band until after American Idiot came out. I used to sing along with songs like When I Come Around, Warning, Time of Life, etc... but I didn't know who sang those songs. And Brain Stew was my favorite song when I was in 8th grade, despite the fact that I had no clue who sang it or what the name of the song was. I HATE it when radio stations don't tell you what they're playing!I went to their concert April 19, 2005. I was completely blown away by the fact that there were so many songs they played that I knew, yet I never knew that they were Green Day songs. They started playing Basket Case, and I was like "hey.. this sounds familiar.." and pretty soon I was singing along with it.I wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for that concert... Although right now I'm not sure how thankful I am for that.Fan since: Technically... probably since around 1997First album: AI, but now I have all of them. Favorite songs: Hitchin' A Ride, Going To Pasalacqua, Whatsername, Suck With Me, Having A Blast, When I Come Around
wowsers_trousers Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 ^ thats what happened to me.when american idiot came out i didnt want to listen to it coz i assumed it was another band like good charlotte or simple plan and i couldnt be bothered with that, but then i started listening to the lyrics, coz it was on tv 24/7 and loved it. then my sister bought the american idiot album, then i started getting into their older songs and realising that a lot of their songs i knew and could sing along to... i used to love warning but yeah... i didnt have a clue who sang it.then i went to see them in adelaide in march last year when i still wasnt sure who they were, but i knew i had to go anyway and i loved every single second of it.i have all of their albums except insomniac, i am not sure why i dont have it, but i dont. warning was their first album i bought.then i saw them in melbourne in december.and that is my story about me liking Green Day.

Watoosh Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 i've seen them live twice. once in june 2002, and again in november 2004. i didn't really become a fan until i saw them in 2002 though, because i had gone to see blink 182 and bought international superhits not long after because i had liked green day.they were my favorite band in 8th grade (so... 2003) and i 5 of their cds with my "souveniur money" when i went to florida during spring break. i really wanted to see them again, and i really wanted them to put out another album.they put out american idiot, and i downloaded it a few weeks before it actually came out. i thought it would be good because i liked the title track and "favorite son" which had come out at around the same time, but i really didn't like the rest of it.they came back in november though, and i bought tickets to their show right after they came out (floor seats ) and saw them with nathan, kaelen, and butttt. that was the first concert i went to with nathan

Totally obsessed Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I've never seen them live But I will! Trouble is my parents are terrified that I'll get trampled on in the mosh pit!
spark in the night Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Saw them live once- September 11th, 2005First album- AIFirst song- Good Riddance (but didnt know it at the time)I can't remember the exact date when I became a Green Day fan. I think the first time I saw Green Day was on mtv, I saw the American Idiot music video. I remember watching it and how it was fast and slow motion, I said to myself "who are these freaks?" (I laugh at that now) But I didnt have an interest in them. Then the next time, I think was around November 2004, when BOBD was released and the heat of it was starting to pour. I remember when I used to go on AIM people had BOBD lyrics in their little info pages and I was like, ok what is with this song I have to check this out. So I found the song on opendiary.com and put it on my open diary (that was before I found myspace) and I really liked it. I replayed the song over and over until I knew it by heart. Then I started digging deeper into this, trying to find info on the band, who they were and where can I get more songs. Thats when I realized they were the same people as those freaks on the music video. haha. thats when I started getting really interested in them. At the time Maroon 5 was my obsession band, but on my open diary I now put my favorite bands are Maroon 5 and Green Day. that was around december 2004. It was also when I actually bought the American Idiot cd. I started listening to and when I listened to JOS, I got scared. dont ask me why, but I think the 9 minutes jest of it scared me. So I put the album on my cd rack and didnt touch it for months. It sat there collecting dust. So for..idk prolly 2 months, I only listened to 4 GD songs AI, BOBD, Holiday, and WMUWSE. Then one day, around February 2005, I said to myself, "I didnt really give that cd a chance, maybe i'll go listen to it one more time from start to finish." And that, ladies and gentlemen, was the start to what I am today. I still remember sitting on the couch listening to that album for hours over and over singing along to the lyrics packet. It was then that I became an obsessed Green Day freak. April 1st, 2005, I get my first and still the same today, myspace account. I totally deck it out with GD pictures and such and I put the holiday video on it. Thats also the time when I came across GDA. I visited it everyday and I gained more and more knowledge of this band I was starting to love. And as time went on, I started collecting the rest of their albums. IS, Dookie, Warning, Nimrod, 1039, Insomniac, Kerplunk, & Shenanigans. And since then my love for Green Day grows stronger each and everyday. It's been a year and a half since my so called "fanage" bloomed and since then my life has changed for the better. Green Day are so special to me that I never want to lose them. I promised myself that no matter what, Green Day will always be there. Number 1 always and forever.
to my own beat Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 i heard when i come around on the radio right as warning was just coming out, so i went off and bought dookie, and ive been hooked ever since.
