Bloody Mascara Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I listened to pop (Spice Girls, Backstreet boys, etc) and oldies I think alternative rock. Whatever my dad listened to, I always loved. CCR =
to my own beat Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 definitly, i used to like rap music, but i dont like to talk about those days.
GNRAGE_2010 Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Green Day was some of the first music that i liked.
Wednesday Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Before I started listening to Green Day I didn't really listen to a lot of different kinds of music. I really only listened to Smash Mouth and idk the backstreet boys or something. Though since I started listening to Korn, Slipknot, Linkin Park, and Gorillaz. Then later I looked at some groups before them like the clash, the ramones, talking heads, and things like that.
farley drexel hatcher Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 When i was really little i liked pop, but by the time i got into Green Day i was already into rock. They just got me into it in a big way and even more into the music side of it. Their music definitely changed me though.
Boston Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I started liking them when 'American Idiot'(the single) came out...before then I didn't really listen to music. I was kind of paranioed about not fitting in back then, so I kinda listened to whatever my friends said was cool. Then, I bought American Idiot and fell in love with it. After that, I got a new friend who introduced me to old bands like the Clash and stuff so now I listen to a lot of UK 70's/early 80's punk, some pop-punk, a little bit of inidie, and a little emo. Green Day definitly swang my taste in music 360 degrees.
my_love_to_st_jimmy Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 no if i think about it. right now i'm still listening to a band called BELFAST FOOD (ohhh... the only band i listen longer than gd) and they sound like rock with some old-english elements. you wouldn't get it. this song's called Sally MacLennane and few minutes ago it was Step It Out Mary. Hahaha. And there's a song called Van Iz Grada (Out Of Town). here, this is it's chorus (translated of course):Running, going awayOut of this townI put "copyright" on ugly memoriesThat's enough foreverI leave this apartmentLet the cold bears of the north comfort me.haha it sounds better on Croatian:Bjezim, odlazimVan iz ovog gradaStavljam "copyright" na mucna sjecanjaDosta je zauvijekIzlazim iz stanaNek' me tjese hladna piva sjevera.hahaha. anyone who's from usa canada australia or uk don't try to read it please! i know how it sounds. it's a complicated language.
Guest I-Wanna-Be-The-Minority! Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 green day changed my musical taste completely! before i liked green day i liked pop n r'n'b. i no its embarresing. it was mainly all mainstream crap, like stuff everyone else listened to. but after hearing green day, i was blown away because it was something completely different. and then i statred getting into other bands like the living end, panic! at the disco, the killers, pinhead gunpowder, the clash, lost profits nd other bands like that. so because of green day my music taste changed frm pop, r'n'b, hip-hop to punk, punk-rock, punk-pop, rock, nd a lil bit of emo. so yer my musical taste is completely opposite after listening tho green day.
rage_and_love789 Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 I grew up listing to 311 thats all my mom listend to. Occasonaly she would put in Alien Ant Farm or some other band she hung out with. I herd American Idiot on the radio, and hated it because my mom did. I didnt know that green day played BOBD or good riddance or anything like that so I always said I hated green day....but one day I was on the way home from a camping trip with my class and this kid put in American Idiot and we listend to it all the way home (which was like 6 hours). I startted my obbsesion with green day then (I'm not obbsesed anymore) I got into more kinda punk and emo and pop-punk stuff or just kinda in that Genre. So yes Green Day changed my life....whoa that sounded sappy
mistress Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 no, i was always into punk....but they were the ones who reminded of that and brought it back to me

billies girl Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 umm yeah i guess i used to like more pop bands like good charlotte and simple plan so yeah i guess it went from that to punk rock....and i didnt really care about green day until i heard holiday...although i loved when i come around when i was like probably 5 or 6.
Isabel Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 Green Day influenced me to listen to other bands. Because they were always talking about these bands called The Ramones, The Clash, Dead Kennedy's, Rancid, etc. and that got me in to those bands as well

Guillaume Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 green day didn't change my tastes about music because they make me like music!
kittenslayer Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 By the way, to all the people saying "they hate pop, but prefers punk and rock". Take greenday for example, they are technically "pop". Pop punk are actually quite different compred to "proper" punk rock bands.Listen to some propagandhi and old AFi and you will know.
