BillieJoeBabyGirl Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 My mom and dad both like Punk Rock And both love Green Day! Actually they were the ones who show me their existence! And I'm so grateful for that! I listen Green Day since then..! I can't get tired of their music! they're the best band on this whole World! I love them soooo much! GuitarFreak Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 I grew up listening to my dads record, things like The Beatles and Queen, but my mum is into way different stuff to me, she loves Dido and Will Young, i can't stand Dido

No Man Can Eat Fifty Eggs! Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 My dad is a bluegrass musician, so you can guess what he likes. My mom actually likes Green Day, but she won't admit how much. I sometimes think she has a crush on Billie Joe, which is a little disturbing since she is old enough to be his mother. But anyway, she likes pop like Hilary Duff and Vanessa Carlton and it makes me sick. I used to play Vanessa Carlton's stuff on piano, and now she's always like, "Why don't you play her stuff? It's so pretty!" And I reply, "Mom. I'm not a git anymore." Luckily though she likes when I play Green Day in the car. My Dad on the other hand can't stand electric guitar for too long. Whenever I play my guitar he puts in earplugs. Ugh.
Queen of Dookie Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 My mom... NOT AT ALL! My dad, somewhat. He likes classical rock... rock from back in the 60's and 70's and stuff. But overall... not very similar.
Sherri Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 My dad admitted to liking them a few times, and he knows that I really like them too... it was surprising because Holiday was on the radio one time and he was like this is a cool song who sings this? Lol. My mom is older than my dad and she is into more classical stuff... I don't think she really knows that I like Green Day unless my dad has told her or something. My dad is definitely the cooler parent that's into rock and Led Zeppelin, ACDC.. and that kind of stuff.
Kleptomaniac Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 If I haven't said yet my parents are into rock and have been, hence why I love rock music. My mom loves Green Day o_o
Guest Phoebe. Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 My mummy likes Van Morrison and Dire Straits My daddy likes.. Wagner.
ILoveTableArt Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 My parent's musical tastes.....hmm..Mom listens to all sorts of stuff- from celtic all the way to Green Day. I know she frequently listens to soundracks like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, then Josh Groban, U2, The Beatles, Yo-Yo Ma, The Monkees, The Rolling Stones, ELO, Green Day (loves American Idiot and Warning), Enya, The Chieftains, Flogging Molly, Jack Johnson, Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow. Dad- James Taylor, Jack Johnson, The Beatles, Blues Traveler, Riders in the Sky...I don't really know- we don't talk much on the subject of music or in general. heheSo yes my parents and I share the same musical interests for the most part.
green_day^idiot13 Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 my parents have completely different music tastes than me. my dad is a "golden Oldies" freak, and my mom likes rap/rnb/pop/hip-hop/oldies. they hate the music i like. its sooo damn confusing...
celeryeater Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 My parents are like hermits, they don't know who anyone or anything is in music ( or much else )before twenty years ago, but my mother did express an interest in James Blunt the other day...I don't know whether to be pleased or not.
stormgirl Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 totally different. my parents like classical and anything realllyslow with no words. my mom hates my music. my dads ok with it tho

breena Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 My 12 yr old loves the same tunes I do.Green Day, A7X, Metallica, Protest the hero and a lot of 80's metal. I am thankful he doesn't like things I don't-rap etc. But still-you have to let your kids develop their own tastes. My Dad bought me my first Pink Floyd and Alice Cooper records. He was very into music.
