Doris The Spider Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I know my mom has Good Riddance and BOBD on her ipod but I think that's all. She likes classic rock: Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, Ted Nugent, stuff like that. My dad listens to lots of stuff. He might like some Green Day songs but I don't think he has ever really listened to them.
whatshername0303 Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 My parents like almost everything...except dance, hip hop and things like that. They like what I listen to and they love Green Day! They come with me to a GD show.
YossNimrod Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 my parents hate Green Day, they have bad taste in music.
Kid A Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 Dad is the reason why I got into greenday, he bought bullet in a bible. That's when it all started. My dad used to be in a Band mainly covering songs Like Basket case and When I come around.
StuckWithRob Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 My parents THOUGHT Green Day were some useless bunch of wanabees. Now they like most of GD's more popular songs. I have this joke that whenever my dad's around and I'm watching/listening to Green Day, 'Welcome to Paradise' is played. I was watching a concert on YouTube and he walked into the room when the song started, same with AAF and if ever Dookie is on he always hears at least the end of it (just as well he doesn't walk in 4 mins earlier I don't think he'd like Longview very much )
Karen. Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 While I was in New York for the musical at Easter, my Dad asked my brother if Green Day was an eco movement.
GreenDayfann Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 my father is more into things like deep purple, but I think he'd like Green Day too, when we were watching surf's up, he did ask how I knew them. My mother had interest in them too, but didn't like it that much. haha =) I can understand
EliseGD Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 My father likes more old music. And Metallica and Rammstein. But he also likes Green Day:) he went with me to their concerts and he said they were like, one of the best concerts he had ever been to, and he's seen pretty good bands :} My mother likes Golden Earring (her favorite band) and bands that are between Pop and Rock. She also likes Green Day and thinks I have an awesome taste in music

My parents don't into Green Day much, but mom totally recognises Billy's voice and Green Day songs, once I listened Foxboro Hot Tubs and she came and said: "Hey, wait, is this Green Day? I hear the voice, but music is totally different, is this new album or something?" I was very surprized by her knowlege of GD music style
Ryan GD Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 My mum and dad went to see green day last year with me and my brother and my dad was with me the time before that. He's quite a big fan , my mum likes mainly the Ai/21cb stuff
miragots Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 The very first time my parents (especially my mom) heard Green Day, they loved them! I guess it runs in the family! The first time I ever heard Green Day, I was sitting in a hot tub with my dad listing to the radio, and Holiday started playing. I asked my dad,"Who sings this?" and he said Green Day. I laughed and said, "That's a weird name for a band!" haha!
whowroteholdencaulfield? Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 My dad isn't into music.. And my mom enjoys it, she likes classical music and the Rolling Stones, the Beatles and stuff, she once told me she doesn't like punk music :/ . But she's fine with Green Day and all the stuff I listen to, she even likes some songs like When I Come Around, Minority and loves BOBD!
shenanigans_suffocate Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I get most of my musical taste from my dad. He's the one who made me start liking Green Day
JDookie Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 My father's reaction after he firstly heard Holiday: "I've never heard it before, and if I heard it, I changed the station" And my mother prefers more melodic songs, too. So I'm like an alien in my family. I wanna be the minority!
peacelovegreenday Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I've been trying to convince my mom how awesome Green Day is, but she doesn't like it. I was into country music before Green Day (because that's what my mom listened to, so I got to listen to it) so she's mad I don't listen to it much anymore. And with the rest of my family... My Grandpa probably wouldn't like them, My Grandma wouldn't either, My brother only like 'old Green Day', my sister in law only has American Idiot, my oldest cousin always questions why I listen to 9 minute songs when I can watch TV, but my Aunt and my youngest cousin like Green Day!
GreenDay07. Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Surprisingly, although my mother and I have not always had the best relationship, we have extremely similar tastes in music. She's the one who introduced me to bands like Green Day, Blink 182, Sum 41 and My Chemical Romance. She took me to my first Green Day concert last year and even though I was stuck there with my mom, it didn't even bother me! She is also taking me and my bro to see Blink and MCR in a couple months!!! and we got VIP tickets!! Anyway, I consider myself lucky that my mom is a huge fan of the bands I love. It's probably because she's only 18 years older than me... My dad likes Green Day too, but he prefers the Dookie era as well as bands like Metallica and Disturbed.. He would most definitely take me to a concert too! But, he can't afford it as easily as my mom can.. which is sad because I get along better with my dad, but hey as long as I'm getting there, it's good! Now that I've vented my entire life story.. haha oops.
greenandweird Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 My parents are kinda so they hate Green day they think GD is immoral and impolite so: I don't care if they hate GD cuz I LOVE GREEN DAY
KerplunkJOS Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 My mom is fine with them since she listens to bands like Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin but my dad... He listens to lady gaga and Katy Perry, -.-
Cre Tool. Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 My dad LOVES Metallica! My mom is on my side, team green day!
Four. Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Yep, my mom used to listen to them when I was in the womb. (I think that's why I turned out that way... mind you, I hate peanut butter and that's all she ate.) My dad likes them too, even more since he saw the musical. They aren't die-hard fans like I am though, but they'd still come to concerts with me.
KilljoyFromDetroit Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 My dad listens o all the rap pop hiphop crap and chages the radio station everytime i put it on my station, and my mom listens to some green day, but mostly soft rock crap that sux, so they dont like my green day obsession too much, and im screwed without my ipod
Ashley! Posted July 8, 2011 Posted July 8, 2011 My dad basically hates anything thats not country. My mom likes more pop kind of stuff, but she LOVES 21st Century Breakdown.
Sarahnade Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 My Mom is a decent Green Day fan. Get this though, her favorite band is My Chemical Romance. We saw them live last year and she was freaking out more than I was.
MieZL Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 I've always been the one copying my parent's music taste. Practically everything I listen to, goes back to them and are something my parents have listened to or may like. Though, I still do find a lot of music on my own. But my music taste is definitely inspired by my parent's, Oh, and my mom loves Green Day - she has about seven of their CDs.
