Eeefaa. Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 my dad called billie something like billie-bob-ray thorton the other day stiil, better than mom. he likes the white stripes and i caught him playing 21 guns on piano once, so there's hope for him yet. to mom he's just "the blonde guy"
Anette Leone Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 :blink:My mother watched to VMA with me (some parts)... When Green Day received the prize for best Rock Video she said that Mike Dirnt didn't look like a rocker (?) and she said that Bilie Joe was handsome I put a picture of them on my mural and mom pointed to Tré and asked: is he using eyeliner???
Holly Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 "Do as I say, not as I do. Hey, thats in a Green Day song, right?" Nawh, yes Dad it is, I'm so proud
jenne! Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 *laughing* i owe my passion for music to my mom who brought me to my first concert (REM) back in 1982. i was 13. now, we still listen to some of the same music, as Mom says 'you are never too old to rock!" her favorite music includes weezer, the ramones, barenaked ladies, and Ted Leo. she also digs a little Barbra Streisand now i carry on the tradition with my daughter, who is 4 and I fear might be a bigger Green Day fan than myself sometimes! she counts out the '1,2, 1 2 3 4" in Hitchin a Ride like clockwork, and know a lot of the songs by heart. I'm hoping they play a local place that is an outdoors area this summer so she can finally see them. it's very amusing to her the teacher when she asks what music the kids want to hear and my daughter mentions bands like Green Day, the Ramones or They Might Be Giants My mom really doesn't like rock music at all. she thinks that the guitar is annoying and considers it noise. she likes jazz and her old school R&B, and her soul groups from the 70's. She's not a fan of me liking Green Day cause she says I'm obsessed with them... espcilally with "The guy with the two first names." [That's what she called Billie Joe.] But, we were in Blockbuster and 21 Guns came on and she was singing it really softly I like, looked over at her and smiled and said, "I heard that" and she said, "Well don't get used to it." But my dad is pretty cool with it. He likes everything and I was shocked to hear that he likes Nirvana and Metallica when his favorites groups are Run-DMC and Earth, Wind and Fire. Whenever he's mad at me, he'll say, "Damn it, Joy. Maybe I should wear eyeliner and perm my hair and wear it all spikey and talk to you in a melodic voice. Maybe then you'll listen to me." I always laugh everytime he says that. HAH! your dad rocks!
Valkin Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 My dad got me into Green Day (steering me off Guns N' Roses) with Basket Case Instantly i was hooked ... My dad likes classic punk with heavy metal (80's) My mum likes anything from Green Day, Linkin Park to the Temptations and U2
jenny15 Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Yes I think so. I mean my father told me that they have good song and that they are one of the best new bands. My father is the one who initiated me to rock, metal and punk music. He used to sing me Black Sabbath and Scorpions when I was about 5 years old , so he is quite happy to be listening to Green Day and not to hip-hop or rap!!!!!!!! And my mom like them too. She loves "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"
garnet Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 my dad says he likes green day but doesnt actually listen to them.. my mum listens to like old bands and people like prince but shes not really into music.. my dad is more david bowie.. which my sister loves both david bowie and prince.. where as i do not like either ha..
Conspiracy. Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Me and my mom were watching some interview with Billie Joe the other day when he had blonde hair and all she said was: "His hair looks like shit." xD
Melundi Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 my mum likes u2 and REM and yes, I dunno. We mostly like the same things, except green day and young english bands.
GreenDayisAmazing Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 My dad sometimes listens to Mexican when we arent with him. We used to listen to a lot of Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath and all those 70-80s rock bands when we were younger. But now my whole family pretty much listens to the same stuff as each other like Foo Fighters, Green Day, Kings of Leon mostly new rock and alt rock we all listen to one station KFMA they play mostly 1990s and up but some older stuff like Metallica and the Ramones too! Actually my parents are the reason I like rock music we got tons of our cds from them like Blink 182, Sublime and lots more. We all go to the same concerts we just dont hangout with each other because my siblings and I prefer the front, crowds and pit well my parents hangout in between the bathroom and alcohol. My mom also said Green Day are the best live performers shes ever seen, she said even better then Metallica(I totally agree). Green Day is the best band ever!!!
PunkRocks and Coke Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Well my dad likes classic rock and stuff like that and my mom likes stuff from bluegrass to lady gaga My dad kinda like green day and I don't think my moms gives a shit about them.
GreenDay-Idiot Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 Dad doesn't like any of my music! my mom does! she actually went to the metallica concert here on march 8!

AfterShock Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 My mom likes the popular older songs (When I Come Around and Good Riddance, mostly), and my dad could care less
Wolfdemon Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 I forget if I already responded to this topic but my mom is more for classical and Gospel things She does like some of Bon Jovi's things though. My dad on the other hand claims to like Green Day and other music I listen too. Which is why I'm taking him to the GD concert in August to see how he reacts
boulevardreams Posted April 4, 2010 Posted April 4, 2010 My parents love Green Day. I always ask them if they want to come to a concert with me, but they think they're too old to go. LOL
GreenDayisAmazing Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 My mom is going to see Green Day with me for the 3rd time =D and we got pit. My mom stayed in the pit for a few bands at KFMA day 2008 but got out right before Metallica but it was a non seated concert with over 25,000+ people so I think she will last in a Green Day pit. Usually my moms not the type of person who jumps around, waving her arms and stuff but she did for Green Day my dad likes Green Day too he saw them with us last year in AZ.
Johannamunter Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 My parents are not into them that much but they like 21 guns
Vaso.Of.Suburbia Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 my mum was listening to guns n roses, acdc, scorpions, foreigner and metallica when she was in the us. when she came back, she started not to care about music.... after having internet in my house she started getting into music again, but not as much as she used to. my dad's favorite bands were pink floyd, led zeppelin and rolling stones. now he prefers traditional music :/ well they don't really like green day, but they always make efforts to stand it, because they don't want to make me feel bad...
AleKerplunk Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 last Tuesday my dad came to my room and said "i need one of your Green Day's CD" and i: what? dad: i need it for my physics classes i: .... ok so the listened 21stCB but then... dad: no, it's not this CD. i'm look for that song who is very faster and powerful. i: Horseshoes and HandGranades? dad: no i: East Jesus Nowhere? dad: NO, the album cover is a heart or something i: AH! AMERICAN IDIOT Dad: YES! and he use American Idiot for his Physics classes was SO weird but i'm proud of myself, FINALLY MY PARENTS LISTEN GREEN DAY.
keepmeinsane Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 My parents like Green Day, they're coming to the concert with me and my sisters in Helsinki in June But I don't really know if they would classify themselves as fans, but yeah, they really have nothing against them.
AnnA™ Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 My dad says that practically all new music sucks. He's stuck in the old days. He listens to a lot of troubadours, and a few old rock bands. Sometimes he feels this need to put me down and say how Green Day "aren't big", and they aren't this and they aren't that. They can't compare to [insert whatever old successful band]. It pisses me off. So what? It doesn't make me like them any less. But at the same time I think he's kind of glad that there is a band that I'm so passionate about. And he's excited for me going to see them again. My mum kind of likes them. I don't know how to explain it... She likes Billie for some reason, which creeps me out slightly. She doesn't like Mike or Tré though, and got some nasty comments about them really. But she likes a few songs like Good Riddance, Poprocks and Coke, 21 Guns, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, ¿Viva la Gloria? (Little Girl). She really appreciates and respects my love for them. Even if there's a Green Day video on TV that I've already seen a million times she calls for me. And she often listens when I talk about them. Sometimes she peeks over my shoulder when I watch a new interview with them or anything like that. She also sat with me watching parts of Bullet in a Bible, and the Munich show that aired on MTV. So she's not completely uninteresed. I'm taking her to the Munich show in June, if everything goes as planned. I hope she'll enjoy it.
Tragedy 2000 Miles Away Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 My dad likes Green Day. I never thought he would considering how he's stuck in the 70's...he'll listen to them in the car if I happen to bring a cd. My mom kind of liked them, but she still considered it "Devil's music".
