.:Whatsername:. Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Meh, my mom and dad don't like Green Day, but they don't not like them. They both went to the concert and both enjoyed themselves but it's not like they were up in the mosh pit rocking out or anything. I'm just glad they're not the type of parents who absolutely hate the music I like. My dad is like a heavy metal rocker, so he'd only not like Green Day because they're not hard rocker enough for him. My mom sometimes walks around singing their songs because I listen to them a lot in my room, so she hears it. And she thinks Billie looks good when he's not wearing eyeliner.
Welshy Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 My Dad's a bigger GD fan than my Mum but shes like them a bit too. One of my Dads favourite songs is WMUWSE AND he likes 21 Guns.
Chelsea Hotel Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 My dad, God love him, doesn't get it. Once he walked in on me while I was watching Bullet in a Bible, during Mike's, ah, emotive rendition of "Maps," and he thought that was how he sounded all the time. "What is this? You like this band? Why?"He just knows Green Day as the band my mom took me to see, and that's fine with me. Although once I went with him to an antique radio show and he said I should bring along some music--I brought AI. And since my father's hard of hearing, he blasted it. All the way to the show. If I ever develop tinnitus, that'll probably be why.
Mar Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Dammit, Mar beat me to it.Anyway, the Mitten State is Michigan, also known as "the most boring state ever."Only the lower peninsula (where I live) looks like a mitten, though. I've been told that the upper peninsula looks like a running rabbit, but I don't see it.Now that you point it out, I can KIND OF see it!
HoneyDo666 Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Mine watch them on TV with me and like their music. My mom thinks their story is inspirational! My dad has some songs on his iPod, the softer stuff.
shoegazeloser Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 My mother absolutely LOVES Dookie. Her favorite song is Basket Case, and she makes me sing it all the time. I'm actually pretty good at it. My father remembers Dookie, too. He loved Longview.
IzButt Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Maaan, I love my mom when it comes to music. My mom likes a lot of older bands, practically mostly loving the 70s and 80s with some 60s. She brought me up well, and both of us listen to a lot of classic rock/metal/punk. We both like Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Journey, Triumph, Black Sabbath, Ramones, Heart, Survivor, Clash, the list is endless.Yeah for sure she loves Green Day, she always gets excited when we watch Green Day on TV, she thinks they are amazing songwriters and musicians. She even once asked me to burn a CD of a dozen or so of their songs so she can listen to them in her car. And she has taken me to two Green Day concerts. The only music difference between her and I is that I listen to drum and bass/techno and really fast paced pop-punk that she would probably never want to listen to, so I don't even bother introducing her to that lolMY DAD ON THE OTHER HAND, I haven't heard from that stinker in years. I remember he was a total hardcore christian and he adored christian pop and gospel(totally not me) so if he found out I like Green Day he'd probably call me a satan child and yell at my mom asking why she let me listen to such "disguisting, demonic noise" (wtf)He also LOVES that annoying latin music(no offence) with the loud ass horns and the accordian and the really fast singing in spanish, he used to blast it with the windows down in his car. I'd get so embarassed and he'd be like "SHUT UP FOO, DIS IS MUSIC FROM YOUR HERITAGE"(I'm half mexican)so my dad in my opinion is pretty much an epic fail.
Moz Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 My dad's a Green Day fan. My mum listens to old, wacky music like Prince. She teases me constantly about Green Day, but I don't think she minds them - she kind of likes Nimrod.
mad hatter. Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 My mom loves Green Day. She's going to their next North American tour whether I like it or not, apparently.
Doctor Demon Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 My mom likes Green Day. My dad does too, but he makes fun of them more than my mom does.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 My dad sort of likes them, and my mom... dunno. I think she isn't bothered by them, but that's it. Might like a few songs.
Metanoia Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 my mom think they're ok.....she likes the songs that are played on the radio like blvd. of broken dreams and wmuwse......and my dad thinks they're ok as well =) well my mom REALLY likes 21 Guns .....
Mellyboots Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Van Morrison. She likes some Green Day songs, then others she says have no melody at all.
BIBARAGURORIA Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 My mom likes Green Day. My dad does too, but he makes fun of them more than my mom does.Didn't your dad say that Billie was "DA-REEMY" and probably wore guyliner to the supermarket?
Doctor Demon Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Didn't your dad say that Billie was "DA-REEMY" and probably wore guyliner to the supermarket? My dad did say that Billie was "dreamy", but he said Tre was the one who wore guyliner to the supermarket.
BIBARAGURORIA Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 My dad did say that Billie was "dreamy", but he said Tre was the one who wore guyliner to the supermarket.Ah, I see.And your mom can't make up her mind about Mike.
Last American Girl Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Neither of my parents are Green Day fans. Although, neither of them dislike them either.Dad is more into Areosmith, Led Zepplin, The Doors, Alice Cooper, etc etc. And My mum likes Chris de Burgh, Lou Reed, Lenord Cohen, REM, etc etc.If you think about Green Day is kinda in the middle there.
Trina Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 My mom's favorite Green Day songs are Rest, Good Riddance, Give me Novacaine, 21 guns, Last Night on Earth, Warning EJN, When I come around and Jaded. She loves them all though. And my dad loves them even more but he's not so good with the song titles
FindWhatYouBelieve Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 my dad likes green day, he went to a concert of them with memy mum is more into country, but she likes the slow songs like 21 Guns & Wake me up when september ends
gabbag Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 My parents and I have very similar tastes in music. They pretty much got me into Green Day because they would play Dookie and such when I was little. And my mom loves Billie Joe and is super excited that they share a birthday. I went to Good Morning America with her to see them and Best Buy, and when I went to MSG with my friend, she was jealous that she wasn't going. So yea my parents like Green Day, which makes me happy.
minorityxdisturbed Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 My dad now is crazy wiht East Jesus Nowhere, Basket Case and Jinx he's all the time listening to that songs, I'm proud that after hearing them in life he loves them
Smoothed Out Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 My mum and dad don't really like any music i like and vice versa, but the scary thing is that my grandma loves green day! She's watched BIAB, got her own cd with a mixture of her GD favourites on and I even caught her trying my new GD t-shirt on (she's only small)
Library Girl Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 My parents music taste - well. My father early influenced me with his music taste like Stones, Dylan, Who, Led Zeppelin, ACDC and so on, he likes a lot of good old rock songs. But he also likes some weird country music. (I do like the music by Johnny Cash a lot - but that's mostly all of country music I can stand!)He is not a big fan of Green Day actually, he always calls them potheads (since I've explained to him why the band's name is "Green Day"). But I finally discovered that he likes "Know your enemy". I was pretty surprised!Well and my mother. Hm ... she don't really hates Green Day's music, but she's always turning her back on me when I'm listening to them, or begs me to turn the volume down (which I'm not doing), and I'm not allowed to play Green Day at her place. She's more into classical music.
TheMinority Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 naaa it's very different. My parents like Abba and more Swedish artists. Very soft music without drums or electrical instruments much I hardly listen to Swedish music and love electric guitars, hard rock too sometimes.
Marie_GD Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 My mom really likes Wake Me Up When September Ends and Misery. My dad really loves Minority, I forgot my Bullet in a Bible CD in his car and it took months for me to get it back because he was listening to it all the time!
