Hermione Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My dad quite likes Green Day, he likes a few of their albums and he's really impressed with the live footage he's seen of them. His band's just added Know Your Enemy to their setlist My mum just ridicules them to annoy me any time they're mentioned. She wrote a mean poem about Billie Joe in a birthday card she gave me . I'm sure she had praise for them when I first got into them but of course she'd never admit it now.
Angela. Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 ^ What did the poem say? I'm just curious, that's all.My parents aren't big GD fans (well, my Dad seems to like them a little, but not my Mom. She likes stuff such as Kid Rock and Lynard Skynard.)
Rezurgam Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Both my parents like old Vietnamese music but my dad also likes classic/soft rock and classical music.
minorityxdisturbed Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My mother hates music so she doesn't like Green Day, but my father likes a little bit Green Day, it's not his favourite band but he thinks that they are good
captain peroxide Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My parents have pretty good taste. My mom I can't really speak for all that much, but she tends to listen to the stuff my dad listens to. My dad loves some amazing bands like The Clash and The Ramones, REM, They Might Be Giants, Talking Heads, etc etc. They also both like Green Day hates music
ComaWhite Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My mom likes the slower songs BOBD or WMUWSE.But my parents prefer the older music from the 70´s and 80´s.but of course they listen also to some new music that´s been played in the radio.
watsername182 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Well my mum listens to like ABBA and stuff but I'm starting to introduce her to what I listen to.At least Green Day isn't just "noise" to her anymore.I even managed to convince her to come to a Green Day show with me!
Sister of Grace Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My parents don't mind Green Day. My mum is coming with me to one of the shows I'm going to and my dad has some of their CD's. But I don't really have a similar taste of music as my parents when it comes to other bands.
Isabel Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My parents are definitely into alot of older music, my Dad especially. Jimmy Hendrix, The Beatles, The Kinks, The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd, etc. He has this insane record collection and he even has Now 1 on vinyl. (I got him to listen to Green Day's version of My Generation but he wasn't too impressed )My Mum loves Il Divo....like, to bits. It's mad. But she also loves Phil Collins, Bryan Adams, Chris De Burgh, and alot of 60's stuff too. I guess because I grew up listening to that stuff, I love it all as well. I think my parents have great taste in music.
VaMpIrA Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 both my mum and dad like AI, but they don't listen to any of the other albums... and don't know any of the other songs...so i don't really think of that as them "liking" them, but they don't totally hate them so yeah. xD
Farah Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 ermm, my mum likes green day..i don't think she's into any music genre in particular, i do know she likes salsa though and fast music..and my dad.. ermm i have no idea since i don't have alot of contact with him, but when i was little i remember he had disco music in the car.lol, but i dn't remember if he liked anything like rock or stuff. but maybe he does, i dont know if he knows alot about green day though.
Tiffx Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My parents accept my music taste, but they don't like it. My dad listens to jazz type music and mum doesn't even listen to music, just the radio when she's driving.
Nova-Caine Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My parents are in their 60's both into the music from their era, Kinks, Rolling Stones, Small Faces, The Who, Beatles, Janis Joplin, Mama's and Papa's, etc but both love a bit of modern music, Dad esp loves his 80's pop and some modern rock, mum loves American Rock from the 80's on. Neither of them really liked Green Day its not their thing, I'm fine with it, although my dad has commented that he likes some of the new album. He sat and watched the Abbey Road Sessions with me and tapped his foot along, he hardly ever looks up from his newspaper of an evening but did for this and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Freeny Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My mom doesn't like Green Day, at least what I know of. She's more into 80's rock music. My dad likes their singles but never really listens to them.
amy_runs Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My dad loves Green Day. He didn't at first, but now he has a bunch of respect for those guys. And my mom just likes Billie
emmaILGD! Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My whole family pretty much likes Green Day/knows about Green Day.My parents are coming to the concert with me, along with my mum's best friend and her son. But, I'm definitey a bigger fan than my parents.
GreenDayGummyBear Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 my moms a strange one... my sister got into metal bout 2 years back, and my mom was always into pop, but now my mom is into metal too. my brother is into rock, rap and metal, and then here i am, punk
.:Whatsername:. Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Well my dad loves heavy metal, but he likes other rock too and he remembers songs like Longview and Basket Case and likes those. And he's finally admitted that he doesn't think Green Day is that bad. So that's fine. I think he's just glad I didn't grow up and end up loving crappy rap or hip-hop music (even though I do listen to a lot of different music, rock is my favourite kind. )My mom doesn't really care. She likes everything so she doesn't mind Green Day. My whole family is going to the concert, so I guess that's saying something.
Ally Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 my mum and dad are both into rock and punk and all that sort of thing, so we do like the same stuff!
Bastard of 1967 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I'm a parent (of a 21-month-old little girl) and, well, I suppose I wouldn't be on the board here if I didn't love Green Day. My wife has never been a fan of the band (she agrees that Billie Joe is a lyrical genius and that the whole band is a model of "excellent at what they do, love doing it, and it shows") but she's always found their musical style up through AI to be too harsh and abrasive for her tastes. Sensitive ears, I suppose..... But she is very impressed with how 21CB turned out and I convinced her to come to the Washington DC concert with me at the end of this month. I'll let y'all know what kind of look she gets on her face when they play Longview! So here we are in our late 30s/early 40s and we're both going to our first punk rock concert. I suppose stranger things have happened.....
Ellie_punx Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 my parents believe that i'm very stuck with green day and the only think that i'm interested in is them!!!ok in a part that's true!!!the problem is that i fight with them all the time for that reason!!!i don't know what to do..............i hate greek music and any other style of music!!!!punk rock is my love and green day my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nele Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My mom has a pretty good music taste, she likes music like The Clash and David Bowie and she loves Green Day. (especially Billie )My dad in the other hand has the shittiest music taste I've ever seen. He listens to german jazz, old pop and he's really into classic too. His opinion on GD is splitted. He likes the slow songs but everything which is similar to St. Jimmy is too "noisy and fast" for him.
Deniz. Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 yeah, my mother likes ABBA  and my father likes arabic music, that sucks..
Ellie_punx Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 oh that sucks!!!my parents listen greek music mostly!!!but both used to like '80s music!!they love beatles or rolling stones u know!!!fortunately!
Jessayy Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 my mammy loves green day not half as much as me though....
