Sarcasm Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Like so many others I was hooked as American Idiot was released, but I think F.O.D did the killing blow. It's one of my favorites today, I love the melody and the "fuck you" in it's entirety.
TaylorKlinke Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I'm not 100% positive but I think it was Boulevard of Broken Dreams...I just know that I discovered Green Day by myself and was hooked on them the instant I heard them and found out who they were. I think it was Boulevard of Broken Dreams though because at the time I was 14...in 9th grade. And I felt so alone. And I could really relate to the song.
a peculiar name Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 My first Song was When I Come Around. Heard it on the radio and was in love <3
Elena Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 idk which song it was, all i can remember is that i knew some songs from 21st century breakdown and american idiot, but just the ones that often came/come on the radio...at that time green day already was my fave band, though i didn't know many songs and i wasn't obsessed (i was obsessed with michael jackson), but then i thought i should listen to them a bit more when they're really my fave band and so i did it....then i found a vid of a live version of good riddance (he played it on blue) and fell in love with it, so that's the song that made me a huge fan <3 ...it also sounded familiar to me...so maybe it also was the first song i heard, but i'm not sure...i more think it was a song from american idiot...
Polly1987 Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Boulevard of broken dreams. And it is my favorite song for all times!
Saint of Suburbia Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 holiday the riff stuck in my head. made me think i had to look these guys up. now i love them, and their 90's material especially.
greendaytodeathandback Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 My first on was BOBD on some music show. Billie was wearing a hat. That's all I can remember really... I just know that I totally fell for them straight away.
KilljoyFromDetroit Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Boulevard of broken dreams, or wake me up when september ends
1039slappygirl Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 For me, the first Green Day song I heard and the one that made me a fan are two different songs. The first one was Brain Stew. I was only 6 years old and I liked the song a lot but I never thought I would ever like so much the band behind it. When I had already forgotten the song and what I called my favorite singer was Avril Lavigne, Green Day reappeared in my life with the American Idiot music video. Still, the song that actually made me fell for them was Wake Me Up When September Ends. And then I became a fan. Yeah, they saved me from Avril Lavigne. How many bands do that?
AwePuppy Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 good riddance, i heard it a lot on the radio when i was little and would ask to turn it up lol but then as a lil kid i didnt know any band names until american idiot came out and i started using the internet just for music lol
Brigister Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 It was the year 2004 when I got into Green Day and it was basically because of the whole Dookie album, I listened to it all at once, without even having a clue of who Green Day was, because I found it in my cousin's room, by chance. I probably had already heard something from AI, but I didn't really care or anyways I didn't realize who they were. I was hooked after that first listening, but I think the one that made the miracle was either Having A Blast or Welcome To Paradise. ( )
BJA TC MD Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I sorta like AI era stuff when i was 7. Know Your Enemy is the song that really got me into them.
The Governator Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I was looking through my dad's CD collection from the 90's. He had dookie and insomniac. My dad had been a fan of Green Day back in 94 and 95 but hadn't really followed them after that. I put the CD in and we both listened to "She." It was my first Green Day song and the first Green Day song my dad had heard in years. We both started following their music, I bought all the albums, and we saw them in Kansas City back in 09'. Thanks "She." haha.
Pied Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 A long time ago when I was nine, I saw the Hotel Babylon bit they did, skipped past 'Stuck With Me' and 'Brain Stew' and listened to 'Jaded.' I loved it, and after fifty minutes of watching MTV, miraculously, the Brain Stew/Jaded music video played and I kept on loving it. By the end of the month I had Dookie and Insomniac on cassette, and I still have those cassettes to this day.
HeroesandCons86 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 American Idiot, I was about 5 years old, I loved it, I even got in trouble for singing it because of the swearing xD The second one, oddly enough was Maria because I nagged my dad to buy International Superhits and Maria's the first song on it.
xVivaLaOliviax Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Basket Case was the first song I ever heard (I was 5, so I didn't really know who they were), but Wake Me Up When September Ends was the first song I heard that I actually knew who Green Day was.
70 Times 7 Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 mine was brain stew my parents used to have parties all the time, and that was pretty much every other song on their playlist, so I hated it
Westside Highway Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 American Idiot (the song) not only got me into Green Day but also music in general which is the most important thing to me
Virtue Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Friend sent me "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" the summer of my 6th grade year...I was in the middle of making an Maple Music Video, but then heard the song..I dropped everything and listened to it over and over..before I curiously clicked on "American Idiot" the rest is just history.
IlariaIDIOT Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Boulevard of broken dreams for sure! "The ah-ah-ah-ahh" part made me a fan
R_Z-Log Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Aw man I wish I knew! I was 10 and it was something from Dookie, but I have no idea what it was.
