GreenRanger Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 The first song I ever heard was probably When I Come Around. The first one I ever owned was Brain Stew (godzilla mix). But I didn't put all of my past listening together until American Idiot. I'm fairly certain that Holiday was my first favorite Green Day song...but I kind of got into the whole album once I got it.
toomuchtoosoon Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Holiday I was hanging out with one of my buddies, we were listening to a mixed CD (remember what that is? ), and all of a sudden this amazing song starts playing. I was instantly hooked, I thought it was the greatest fucking thing I had heard in my life.
Undómiel Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Wake Me Up When September Ends. Edit: wooo 1,039 post!!
minority_defeats_majority Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 On a train to Orbost 2 years ago I listened to 21 guns 72 times repeatedly. I didn't even know who it was by. I actually got a play count of 85 after the trip
Hedwig Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Guess it was BOBD. I always loved it but I never payed much attention to music until I actually sat down and listened to the whole song once. After that I just kept listening to their music and here I am now.
Missionary Politician Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 The first song I heard was American Idiot. It was pretty catchy at the time, but I wasn't truly into them until I heard J.O.S. Made me a fan for lifeeee.
deadair Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 I was about 10 years old and the first song I ever heard by Green Day was "Espionage" because I owned the Austin Powers soundtrack at that time. But I didn't actually become a fan until 2 years later in 2005, when I was watching their four song performance for the benefit concert Live 8 which was being televised. The song that from that performance that made me a fan was actually their cover of "We Are The Champions" because I was/am a big Queen fan. I thought the cover was great and in general I thought the way Billie got the crowd to participate for their four song slot in Germany was pretty amazing. After seeing that on TV, I had a family friend burn me American Idiot and when by the second song (JOS) there was no turning back.
oda Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 The first song i heard that i knew was them was american idiot, but the concert in june is what made me a fan
littlegirl-of-suburbia Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Maybe wake me up when september ends, i can remember listennig to the radio in my mum's car when i heard it (i was about10 years old). Then Boulevard of broken dreams and American idiot got my addicted to Green day... i would spend hours just listening to those 3 songs on youtube... (i also found Billie very hot, that sounds creepy because i was like 10 years old) It was the first time i cryed because of a song.... my mum was like WTF
james.england121 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 American Idiot was the first song that got me into them, then Boulevard of Broken Dreams came out, loved that, bought American Idiot, loved it, bought Dookie, Insomniac and International Superhits a couple of weeks later and so on.
MariaWhereDidYouGo? Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 My first one was Warning. I was 12 years or so and I remember I came home from school and saw that video over and over again. That made me a fanatic instantly
Just Kate Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Holiday for sure. i've known American Idiot and Boulevard Of Broken Dreams before but never really cared that much into this as i wasn't a rock fan back then. until the time...
fashionvictim86 Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 I was about 10 years old and the first song I ever heard by Green Day was "Espionage" because I owned the Austin Powers soundtrack at that time. I don't think that song would make anyone a fan! Since there's no words, if you only heard that song you'd never know how amazing Billie's voice is and what they're all about.
Laura! Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 BOBD. I knew and loved Good Riddance when it was a hit but never thought to listen to their other stuff at the time.
dookiak Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 2000 Light Years Away.. a friends band played it live and I was like WTF is this piece of heaven? He lent me his copy of Kerplunk and 1039 SOSH, shortly after Dookie came out and well.. it's been happily ever after ever since
Slappy72 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Wake Me Up When September Ends There was a time when the video was on TV every hour & i was like :  "this is new for me" :woot:
FinkaliciousBillie(: Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Basically the whole American Idiot album
Classof13_2010 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 American idiot, kids at school were singing it, then I got the album and it was playing non-stop for next month
Guest Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Probably Boulevard of Broken Dreams. I was 8 at the time AI came out and my cousin had it, at that time I was like "Oh my god, this song is amazing, I love how it sounds!" I never really paid attention to the lyrics, just if it sounded good then it was fine by me. But yeah, listened to the whole album and then searched for all of their older stuff, found it and loved it
Poprocks_and_Coke Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 See the light. When I listened to it at the first time I thought "I wanna have more of this awesome music!"
Margo 39 smooth Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 this is pretty sad but its was Know your enemy.I saw the premiere of the video for that song and a couple days later bought the album, fell in love, bought another album, and so on. I guess I just liked it cause it was the first time I heard a Green day song and was old enough to appreciate it and understand it.
