walkingalone_x3 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I like the "old" and "new" Green Day if you wish to call it that. To me its just Green Day and I'm always happy with what they choose to do. Regardless of what everyone else thinks.
st.jenny Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 i know that everyone hates them because they decided to make new music and do something different for once. huh what a bunch of idiots.
xLuckystarx Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I love them both equally. It all sounds the same to me - Green Day. Both have great music, both are fun to listen to...what more could I ask from a band?
RottingInside Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Who fuckin cares? All of their music is good, it doesn't matter whether it's "new" or not.
Too Much Too Soon Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Myself, I prefer their older stuff, but I like it all the same I guess.
Midnight Rambler Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I imagine when Nimrod came out in '97 there were fans thinking the same thing; "I miss the old Green Day".Well, I'm sure some of you wouldn't mind if Green Day returned to how they were during the Nimrod era.My point is, the band has been evolving their whole career. There have always been people saying "Damn, I wish they were still like they used to be", or "Why cant they go back to how they were in 19__". It happens with every band. If Green Day hadn't evolved and 'matured', I'm not so sure Warning would have been released, much less American Idiot. They did what they had to do to survive. There may have been some changes here and there, but at the end of the day it's the same 3 guys. The only difference is, they have had more life experiences and are writing from a different perspective. They aren't the 22 year old brats anymore. Some people just can't understand that.
Green_DayFreek_life Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I love the old and new Green Day ofcoures i miss the old Green Day but they had to grow up sometime. You know? i love the old Green Day but the new gd is just so i can't discribe it.
JazzieJoe Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 This question is asked so many times in so many places .......but as a younger person I really feel like I can relate to the older Gday.....u no?......I always liked both types but I pick old school gday......
dryice923 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 i love the old-predookie green day and the new-AI green day. its the 'in the middle' green day i'm not too fond of.i still like dookie thru warning tho. just not as much. the exact middle, nimrod&insomniac, were acctualy my least favorite albums(well, insomniac is pretty damn good..just nimrod then)
shenanigans041 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Green Day is Green Day,You can't change them back so you might as well live with it,I love there old stuff and old Green Day,but Right now it's 2006 so this is new Green Day but in a couple years it will be old Green Day.Did that even make sence? It did to me....kind of.
ArmatageShanks39 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 actually, i was listening to american idiot today, and it actually does sounds more punkish than lots of their stuff. regardless of how popular they are and stuff, american idiot isnt much different than their old stuff. besides, its soooo much better compared to all the other bullshit out there like my chemical romance and fallout boy.that being said, i miss the immaturity and stuff, and i like insomniac and stuff a little better, but american idiot was pretty great, and itll probly be looked at as this decades "Nevermind".
Punk Butterfly Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 actually, i was listening to american idiot today, and it actually does sounds more punkish than lots of their stuff. regardless of how popular they are and stuff, american idiot isnt much different than their old stuff. i agree... the music isn't very different... the whole attitude and stuff changed... but I think it is logical...they just grow up...that being said, i miss the immaturity and stuff, and i like insomniac and stuff a little better, but american idiot was pretty great, and itll probly be looked at as this decades "Nevermind".yes american idiot was not bad, just i prefer most insomniac, dookie etc...
Girl in distress Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Well I love the old music but I love the new one too...and I think it's good that they have matured...imagine GD looking the same, acting the same, singing the same kinda lyrics after 16 years...you'd be really tired..and it would be like...not very imaginative or artistic I guess
starbucksfreak Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 old.i dont know why,but i just like it. but the newer green day is good too. their music is more mature now. eh.i gotta say both own
Pineapple Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 You cant go back in time so stop complaining and move on
Popdisaster Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I'm guessing this isn't the first time a thread like this one shows up...old?new? it's still Green Day,right? why start thinking about that? there are so many other better things to waste your time on
dufour Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 You`re boring me.. :bored: Green Day is Green Day and dont say "new" or "old" cause its shit. Please.
The American Idiot 333 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 oh know.....here we go again.. good music is good music, so live with it.That is so right
BlueAngelX Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 There's no such thing as "new Green Day" and "old Green Day"... there's only Green Day... the best band in the whole fkn world!!! It's not 'cause they became more popular that people should start hating them!... There's more ppl liking them since this new album... I don't think that should be seen as a bad thing... NO WAY!!! They are the same fkn awesome band... going on with their awesome work all these years... and with so much more to come I hope! They just got more mature... and maybe the content got more interesting... think about it, hey?!...
beth hardy Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 well i don't know any of the songs on 10,39/smoothed out slappy hours or Kerplunk.... , i tried to get them, but it was too late...other than that..i like both older stuff and newer stuff....
