spark in the night Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I dont really call their albums "old Green Day" or "new Green Day."every album is a new era, and each era has a certain amount of success and impact attached to it.it just so happens that American Idiot was released at the right moment in time and it grabbed a bunch of success and turned a lot of heads. But that shouldn't be defined as "new Green Day."Other people are saying that the whole eyeliner thing defines "new" Green Day. That's just a new look. Havent people noticed all the hair color changes, and hair styles changes throughout the past 17 years? If Green Day stuck with the same exact look for every single album, it would be boring. Thats one of the reasons why I love Green Day so much, because every album has a new sound, look, and feel. And people are all like, "yeah but its not like Dookie and now they suck" um well, Dookie was pretty big at the time. Just like American Idiot, except they all smelled like ass and had crayola colored hair. And if thats what you miss, then you need to get over it. They are adults and parents now. They have to be a musician, but also a responsbile father to their children. They're not gonna go around with blue hair and greasy shirts with a joint in their hands. Times have changed. They have gotten older and wiser. Don't hate them because they have a new sound and look, just be glad their still around, making amazing music and still kicking ass.sorry that was a lot
Jillie Boe. Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Jeez, here's a thought for you...Old Green Day = New Green DayGreen Day is still fricking Green Day!you don't say

Clare Complety Crazy Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 I like both the old green day and the new green day.
Watsername_94 Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 I like the new Green Day much but I miss the old Green Day offcourse. You can still buy their old albums so dont worry, be happy.
Guest Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 I'm midway , or I mean I like some old and some new.
InternationalSuperhits! Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 new Green Day isn't too bad, but I'd rather listen to their older stuff
a.j Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 is that really matters?.. i mean.. old or new? it's good NOW right? it WAS good too right? so just shut up and be happy for it
St_Jimmy_Chump Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 It's all good. Though I do prefer Dookie over AI.... and Nimrod over AI.
The-Gun-That-Shoots-Blood Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 umm..... AI isn't as good as their past albums and they do run the risk of being called commercial now days but...... Jesus Of Suburbia is one of the best songs of the last decade so..... oohhhh i dunno really but i do miss the immaturity of the old green day
Sham Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 is that really matters?.. i mean.. old or new? it's good NOW right? it WAS good too right? so just shut up and be happy for it I agree. Can't we just accept that although the sound has changed it's still good, and get over it?
klam_man Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 AI is up against 8 other albums...NOT FAIR!well, i like the old stuff...but i like it all.
mayday01 Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 ^ you have a pointits american idiot against 1039 SOSH, Kerplunk, Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrond, Warning, and Shenanigansmabe we should wait for more before we judge the "new Green Day"its all Green Day to me...
53rd and 3rd Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 This is probably the only place and time I'll share my oppinions on this subject....Well, no matter how they have changed over the years, they are still a great band. All that should matter is the music, not appearence. Everytime I hear someone say they only like old Green Day, then they are not a true Green Day fan. Sure, preps may be listening to this band, but isn't that a good thing? They are expanding their audience and I am proud of them for that. Everyday I am proud of them for leaving that "shadow of dookie", even though I personally think it is one of the best albums ever. That's all I have to say about that....wouldn't it get boring if they never changed?

spark in the night Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 ^ I like your sig, did you make it?I like both old and new Green Day. is there really such a thing?I like how each album is totally different from the rest. It's a new chapter to the Green Day life.
