minority_jaded Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 i just get the feeling, that everyone is against me here....... I'm not against you, I am against the people who make the same 3 threads over and over again. With this topic, the lyrics to "Basketcase" come to mind. " Do you have the time to listen to me whine?" This is what this entire thread is about. Do you get what I am saying?
justcause Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 of course billie is gifted, they all are. I'm glad they don't care about what people think and that their proud of themselves, which they should be. It's just they state it a lot and eventually their comes a point when they....how can i put it, go on too much and it just makes them seem stuck up. Like when they say "were the best band in the world" they've been saying that from the start and it's even worse now, it just gets annoying and it can at times make them look bad. I have a feeling you'll take this the wrong way, cause i'm really bad at explaining my posts, which you've already realized, i think :/ It's ok, I think I understand you ! Look, the reason they keep saying thet they're the best band in the world is that they're still getting used to the ideas themselves, after so many years of being undervalued. Remember what Billie said, way back at the Grammies, that he was more used to being a gracious loser? They're just these three guys from the East Bay, and you should love them for who they are and what they've done.
yo thats meh jam Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 in responce to justcase, its because billie never lets them talk don't get me wrong i love the band but when ever mike or tre tried to talk he interrupts them
justcause Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 in responce to justcase, its because billie never lets them talk don't get me wrong i love the band but when ever mike or tre tried to talk he interrupts them I can't really argue that with you - in any interviews I've seen, Billie usually gets addressed, as tends to happen with lead singers, and in other cases, they seem to interrupt each other, and it's the survival of the fittest. When they get interviewed separately, they're all coming from the same place.

mbk Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 As for Billie, he has the most humility I've ever come across in such a gifted man. I completely agree. He's amazingly humble, even compared to not-famous people! And a general comment to the thread, people don't seem to realize that Dookie was just as big as American Idiot (the numbers may not be exactly the same, but they're pretty close). Dookie was HUGE. They were thrown into the spotlight just like they have been this past year. You couldn't go anywhere without hearing their songs or hearing about them. So to say they've suddenly gone mainstream or successful is just not the case. That happened 11 years ago.
jesus the rage guy Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Green Day is Green Day you say all we dot need discuss more have fun all
mclaren Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 i'm pretty sure a man that publicly declares that he wants his band to be the biggest band in the world can't be that humble.
woven_basketcase Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Old Green Day? I think they're pretty much the same. It's not like Green Day suddenly became "Purple Day" or something. It's still the same band members (with the exception of Tre'), just a bit older. I realize that in their youth they were a bit different, but they're still the same ol' Green Day. ^-^ agreed. end of discussion.
Guest Immortality Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 i'm pretty sure a man that publicly declares that he wants his band to be the biggest band in the world can't be that humble. Not this again...
Fr33Pink Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Mhm i thing Greenday is greenday they have good music and so i love them, but the old and new songs both pretty cool soooo.
GreenDay-Idiot Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Green Day is still Green Day! I love all the old songs as much as I love A.I.

That happened 11 years ago. billie joe armstrong has got to be the nicest, most humble frontman i have ever met, even in the 5 seconds i spoke to him (compared to the frontmen from other, lesser known bands *cough*the fuzz*cough* who think the sun shines outta their ass) is it a crime to be proud of something as amazing and captivating as american idiot?? im sure if any of the people who called billie stuck up here wrote anything close to AI they would be ranting on about it saying how great it is any chance they got. i love green day old new dead whatever... at the end of the day image is always going to be a part of music and the music industry and just because billie and co have tweaked their image and matured a bit in the past 2/3 years doesnt make them any less of an awesome band, in fact i think it adds to the impact of american idiot in that it makes them seem as if they really do know what they are talking about when they bash the bush administration so lets all just be glad that we have awesome bands like green day out there keeping our ears happy, and that will continue to do so in the years to come (jeez this was a long post!!!)
x Dearly Beloved Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Yes, they sounded good then. Yes, they sound good now. If I had a time machine I'd let you go back to see old Green Day. But I don't. So try to understand that they rock. They are still around and they rule the world. Thank you.

Guest Immortality Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 GREEN DAY. Two words. Someone had to say it.
TrueFan Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 Ive Gone through numerous Agruments with my friends Debating which GD music is better, The old or the new. Whts yur opinion? i personaly Love certain New music like, American idiot,Blvd Or broken dreams, Give Me novacaine, Holiday, WMUWSE, And others, And im addicted to the old ones i cnt choose between them. i juss wanted to know others opinion...and try not to out me down for having this thread.
InternationalSuperpunk Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I like all of it, it's too good to choose. I love new songs like Homecoming, Letterbomb (Your father's rage and your mother's love), and Whatsername. I also love old songs like minority and FOD. Soem people tell me Green Day's old stuff sucked, and only the AI stuff is cool, and others thell me it's all good except AI. I like it all.
Amanda Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 We already have a thread for this subject, here:http://greendaycommunity.org/Forum/index.p...t=0#entry784389I'll merge them for you so that you can continue posting.EDIT : Topics merged
Sherri Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 I really don't like it when someone asks this, I mean it's Green Day and we're all obviously fans of them. So, it's Green Day and whatever they do is obviously good enough to make over 14,000 people join this forum. It's like asking do you like your mom or your dad better? They're your parents, you probably like both of them a fairly equal amount. Don't quote me on that last sentence either, I'm trying to make a point.
