but as FashionVictim86 stated

Psst, hey, you do know that's Courtney, she like started the site? :D

But yeah the old Green Day... You know, when they came out with Dookie it was so incredible, they were like nothing else that had ever been around before: Completely snotty but also incredibly sweet and vulnerable in this weird way, and brutally honest. They'd spit at you and tell you to fuck off, but they were completely generous and kind. When they played a show it was like spilling their blood and guts, but then if an interviewer asked them a question they would just make funof him. Their music was so aggressive but also candy-coated, and so powerful and also silly. It was like this amazing set of contradictions, you couldn't even keep track of them all at once.

well if you think about it, green day have been bratty and childish all the way from there first ep to warning, and they had to grow up and become mature. green day were fuckin awesome wen they were younger, but everyone gets older, so we should just be happy that theyve been so awesome all those years but its time for them to move on. as tre says "We felt it was time to raise the bar in out career, or lower it, if youre playin limbo."

Sob! Jeez, that hit me where I live - it's such a fucking love thing with Green Day, isn't it?

The contradictions are the thing, all right. Billie ('I am Green Day'!) is at the heart of it - he wants to reveal himself , but he'll send you the other way. He'll present his ass to 65,000 people, but he can't look a camera in the eye. His rage and his humour are all about protecting his vulnerability.

It's still all there in new GD - 'this is called St. Jimmy, it's about me. Or not'.

I think that when an artist finally comes to a place where they can truly tell their own story, it's when their best work happens, and he's at that place now.

Whether people can accept it or not is something else, just like whether they can accept it when his appearance is more elaborate and feminized - it's expressing something for him.

Personally, I can't wait to see where he's going next.

I agree with ^.

I really dont think Green Day has changed. They are still the same people they have always been. They've grown up, had a couple years of huge marketing, I'm sure made a shitload of money, and are one of the biggest bands in the world. But they are still the same people.

^ I never really though about it that way.

I kinda like that now and I must say I agree with it now.

I really miss the old Green Day. I wasn't around for that much of it. I on;y got the end. If that makes any sence. But I hate seeing all of these people at school who say they are "the biggest Green Day fan ever" and really know nothing but the words to 'holiday'. I hate it with a passion.as "ultimate Albums: Dookie" said "punks always get mad when their favorite band gets big"They have changed. sort of in a good way. but you'll still miss it. :pinch::sleep:

first of all i have to say old Gren day is amaznig PLUS new Green day is amazing.

i think a lot of people are liking older Green day now well because Green day are SUPER MAINSTREAM and are getting a tad bit over played on the radio, and hey thats fine with me. if Green day got to be mainstream to make more albums i'm all for it but some people kinda hate the popular music scene. i believe the reason why people are all like " OH MAN OLD GREEN DAY IS WAY BETTER!!!" My conclusion is they are only saying this becasue its indie music and its not that popular to the mainstream scene. i know and have friends who only listen to indie/NOT MAINSTREAM/NOT POPULAR/ RADIO MUSIC... and hey thats fine knock your balls out i say. its just retarded how some people didnt stumble onto a little the album that started it all and no i dont mean dookie (that drives me INSANE when people call dookie old green day) a alittle album called 1,039 smoothed out slappy hours. i just find it funny seeing how its been out since 1990.

get a life Mainstream, New Green Day Haters
