Eighty. Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 they can't be old always, bands evolve, Green Day use to play old songs in their shows anyway. I'd say NEW. their lyrics, music are more impeccable
Generation Zero Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 any Green Day will do, all of their music is great a band would become boring if they didn't change their sound every once in a while and the guys changed in a positive way unlike some other bands who really make crappy music nowadays
Bubbles. Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Old Green Day? New Green Day? I'll have both, thanks.
1039slappygirl Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I like both, but if I had to choose just one, I'd say new, just because I love 21st Century Breakdown's lyrics and how Billie Joe's tried singing different styles and including piano and other new rhythms (like Peacemaker's, for example). I think it's good they've evolved and kept changing and trying stuff
Lu_S Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Personally I prefer the "new". Was through 21stCB I discovered Green Day and I'm a little bit in love with the songs of the album. But I think Green Day has the gift of making amazing albums! Whether it's a rock opera or punk simple and rustic! They know what they do!
keefe Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Green Day is Green Day to me, love them no matter what they do!
Mar Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I hate this "old" and "new categorization, because I think they've been great throughout. However, I think that in this last decade, the guys themselves have become more comfortable in their own skins and have really become amazing musicians (not that they weren't before, but now they're EPIC).
cabot_girl Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I miss the old days....or I miss Green Day not sounding so clean, not so polished for the masses. Because that's what I believe has happened these last years. Musically they are the best live musicians I've ever heard, why destroy that when they make an album? That's why I would love them to choose a producer who could make them sound more like they do "live". I wish Tim Armstrong could produce their album. And for all of you who doesn't like this thread, no one is forcing you to read and reply. I wish this forum could be open for everyone, without being harrased...it's relevant to discuss and talk about this topic for some fans.
Guest Whatsername95 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 For me there is not such a thing like an 'old' and a 'new' Green Day. It's still the one Green Day we love and thats it.
LinziLetterbomb Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 "Old" or "New"....doesn't make a difference.I just love Green Day
iLozza! Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I love both equally. Always have, reckon I always will. They've been great the whole time they've been playing, and that's what I like about them.
xpoprocks&kittycatsx Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 both, I can't decide. I love 21st Century Breakdown but I also love 1039/SOSH and kerplunk.
xjernpqvrnbfv Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 <!--quoteo(post=1962535:date=Jun 30 2007, 10:06 PM:name=Relavar)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Relavar @ Jun 30 2007, 10:06 PM) ←</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec--> Most of the time he does dude. <!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Are you unfamiliar with Jason White? Billie Joe writes all the solos on the album. Jason just plays them live.
Jenny95 Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 both, I can't decide. I love 21st Century Breakdown but I also love 1039/SOSH and kerplunk. I also love the "old" AND the "new " Green Day but I also think that you can't really compare them cause they're just different (but great )
xpoprocks&kittycatsx Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I also love the "old" AND the "new " Green Day but I also think that you can't really compare them cause they're just different (but great ) Yup, there's so many good songs to both the "new" and "old" Green Day that you just have to love it all!!!
Ally Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 i love both old and new, both have completely different sounds, so you never get bored
Smbcf Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Green Day are just Green Day to me, bands evolve, people grow up/get older and music styles are bound to change but I don't classify anything as old or new. I just love every era of Green Day
Just Kate Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 best old song: Having a Blast and Emenius Sleepus best new song: Before The Lobotomy and American Eulogy it's hard to compare so i won't, just will enjoy both
Katarina. Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I don't think about 'old' or 'new' Green Day music. I see it as Green Day, and I love every song they wrote/made.
Billie Kristy Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 To me there is nu such thing as a new and an old. To me they're just Green Day. And that's awesomeness in general. There are a lot of people fighting out there about the 'old' and 'new' Green Day. But is that really necessary? I mean, ofcourse their style and their sound changed a lot. But they didn't just change, they changed for a reason. 'Cause they felt like. 'They didn't just woke up one day and said to each other; 'Let's change our sound and do something completely different' Nope, they just grew up, and tried new things. Nothing wrong with that right? (: Btw I'm not trying to said like a smartass here, but this is just how I see it.
Reep Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 Personally, I think they were at their best between insomniac and warning.
Izzard Posted July 25, 2010 Posted July 25, 2010 I love it all. My green day playlist is all mixed between old and new, so when Green Day's playing I get a really good variety.
GreenDayisAmazing Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I love it all!!! I listen more to their old stuff though. I think it's all amazing!!!
