jesus the rage guy Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 To me Green day is still the same is the same, you're right if someone say they're changed alot im tre cool
ArmatageShanks39 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 i miss it. i dont even care that theyre popular. i just am really hating this half-attemp to be emo or something. liek the whole heart grenade thing, and the eyeliner, and the buisiness suits or whatever. their look annoys me, and wake me up annoys me. other than that, theyre still cool. sure, immature was better, but it happens to everyone.
fashionvictim86 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 All I have to say is that people mature with age. Green Day was awesome back when they first came out, but they don't want to do the same shit they did when they were like 22/23 now that they are in their 30s. I will love them and stick by them no matter what they do.
Guest n1i0m3r9od Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 OMG BUT BILLY IS SO HOTTT. No, seriously. I love the new Green Day, the older one was great, but as FashionVictim86 stated, people mature, see things in diffrent ways, and take things more serious. As like just about everyone on here.
Havinagreenday08 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Haha, I do? I mean...I DO. God damnit, I love you.
Gail. Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 is the same, you're right if someone say they're changed alot im tre cool ahaha yeah
shortie_8806 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 i like it all....except shenanigans. what the fuck was THAT.
jesus the rage guy Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 ahaha yeah are more mature but they dont change i can recognize green day old and new and i feel the same

But if you see how they behave, they don't ACT "emo" at all. They're still themselves and have a sense of humor, and even though they're really passionate and serious about this album, you can tell it's genuine. You're judging them on a completely superficial level.
justcause Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I think the 'superficial' stuff like make-up can actually be quite significant, because it's their 'come-back' image and it was like them signalling the new direction they were taking with their music. It's pretty theatrical, and so is AI - the album is a saga, and the stage-show followed a format, much more so than in the past where how the show developed depended on the chemistry with a particular audience. AI has its beginning , middle and end, you can't shuffle it. Now that era is coming to an end, and there's the famous hair-cut and the more dressed-down look, I think there'll be maybe a more gritty edge to the next thing they do. Down thru the years, Billie Joe has always had very particular looks - not high-fashion, but low-key stuff that did get copied . For them to leap to the Dior Punk thing was a definite message of intent and defiance - and it has to be said that Billie looked like he was having the time of his life with it, like it was expressing that whole side of himself that was maybe held back under the rigidness of the punk ethos.
Lotus Eater Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 It was a totally Star-licious makeover!! God damnit, I love you. I love YOU. And your sig, haha. I just noticed it.
justcause Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 It was a totally Star-licious makeover!! I love YOU. And your sig, haha. I just noticed it. 'Sugar and spice and everything nice wasn't meant for only girls' - old Green Day were distinctly lacking in the sugar and spice department! At 34 years old, the boy should get to be a princess before his princess days are over!
GuitarFreak Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I love the old Green Day cos the songs were alot less serious, more about just having a good time outta life and i like the kinda bratty attitude, but i also like the new Green Day, the look better than ever, the music is much more mature, but that is waht people should expect now that they're in their thrities. Wouldn't people start getting a bit grossed out if there were thirty year olds singing about masturbation. Also because the subject mater of the songs has changed quite a bit, they do now have a more mainstream audience cos everyone all over the world is all riled up over the war and need a voice, which Green Day is supplying, amd less talk about masturbation means more about more mainstream topics like heatache and all that stuff

I really, really hope they stop with the makeup before they get all wrinkly though. Old men in eyeliner scare me.
starbucksfreak Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 ME TOO! i was listening to kerplunk the other day and i just wish they were like that again but they have kids and in their 30's so we all know thats never gonna happen
Lotus Eater Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Imagine if your life was on display and you had fans, and people would always say "Man, 13 year old ___ was so much better than 19 year old ____." It's like, this is their LIVES. Of course they're going to change.
justcause Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Haha, word. I bet he could fit in a size 4, too. I really, really hope they stop with the makeup before they get all wrinkly though. Old men in eyeliner scare me. Keith Richards springs to mind. I think it works if you look like a debauched old libertine. With an angel face and a taste for the suicidal - hmm, maybe. Hey, how about 'Old men in make-up' as a new topic?! Lmfao!
SickOfMe Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 how many fucking threads have there been abou this? who cares. they're gone they've grown up deal.
