Punk Butterfly Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I first learnt the "new" GD... but i prefer and i listen mostly the "old" (1,039/SOSH, Kerplunk, Dookie)... i can spent a whole day only by listening these albums and doing nothing else...The only exception, the "new" GD i like very very much is Nimrod.
woven_basketcase Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 the "inbetween" Green Day. a little bit of both never hurts.
Plaztik Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 meh old or new still GD, so both. But I have to say that I miss being the only girl who new who the fuck were them (at least at my school)
Punk Butterfly Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 ^ yes now everyone sais "i love GD" and the only album actually they ever heard is ...AI
ImnotaDrIjustPlayOneOnTV Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I can see where a teen may feel that they relate more to older Green Day. The material off of 1039 thru Insomniac really applies to what they are going thru. Those issues never change no matter what generation is going thru them. I can see where even though they like the music, they may not relate to songs on Nimrod or Warning. I don't think of their music as old or new. Its all good to me. I feel truely blessed to be the same age as Billie, Mike and Tre, as they evolve and change and their music matures I am right there w/them going thru similar things in my own life. In my early 20's I could relate to Dookie and Insomniac, in my mid to late 20's the material covered on Nimrod and Warning seemed relavent. As for AI it just blew me away and made me think of how we are raising our kids, whats important and what's not in the large scheme of things. I'm sure their next album will make me feel the same way. Their musical evolution and their lyrics have been what keeps me waiting w/breathless anticipation for each new album they release.
xagirlcalledkillx Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 I know a lot of people like the new Green Day. And yes, i've taken a liking to it, though it's definitely NOT my favorite. BUTDo you think that maybe on the next album or something, Green Day will go back to the good ol' days? Like... their music sounding more like 1039 or Kerplunk, or Dookie, or maybe Insomniac? I'd like to hope so, cause i miss that very much. And yeah, i know that they've grown older now, and they're not going to dye their hair those cool funky colors anymore, but C'MON! Don't you miss it?!
walkingalone_x3 Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Why can't people just accept that Green Day has changed?^ I'm sure you are all wondering what this was about. That was in response to what xagirlcalledkillx had said.

Mr Smith Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Green Day used to be calm music, that you can sit back and relax to... Now I think they have changed, along with the music in the 21st century, of the stuff called "nod your heads punk"...Punk rock, lets face it, they still own.
spark in the night Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Do you think that maybe on the next album or something, Green Day will go back to the good ol' days? Like... their music sounding more like 1039 or Kerplunk, or Dookie, or maybe Insomniac? I know for a fact they will not.every era is a new step forward, and something different than previous albumsI dont know if it will be as successful as American Idiot, but it wont be like any other previous album.
St.Jimmay Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 i like old green day. my favorite album is 1039 soshbut, i like ai too. as long as its green day then im fine =]
Guest jesus of suburbia25 Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 They always made good music but the older stuff is their best.
Compulsive Habits Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 I always love their music whether its new or old, but there's that little part of me that loves the old GD just a bit more.
XxSaintess_JimmyxX Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 As long as they don't go all Destiny's Child on me (as I know they'll never do) then I'm just a happy, snappy person
brooksy Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 What do you think is best the new shows ie American Idiot shows or the older more ad lib style shows, where they took requests from the audience?
Cassie. Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 they were all good, you cant choose an era where they were better.
FJ Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 for fucks sake, read the forum rules before you post, let alone start a topic. this has been covered hundreds of times.
A Girl Called Kill x3 Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 i've never been to one of their old shows, but they seem like lots of fun. it's not that American Idiot concerts weren't fun, i just think it would be cool seeing them just wear any old outfit, take requests, and think up funny stuff to say as they go. that'd be pretty sweet
ArmatageShanks39 Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 i like all the stuff theyve done. american idiot was actually really good, i just got tired of it because i listened to it so much. the only thing that kinda bugs me is their live shows are sooooo planned out and predictable now. they play it perfect, but i hope that it changes if they start doing smaller and less flashy venues, because even a really mature band needs to be spontaneous during shows, or its just boring. they play the exact same songs every time. they should just throw in a Grouch or Paper Lanterns sometimes.and the whole stage uniform thing probly wont last forever. that is kinda boring....but the clothes really dont matter that much. its just clothes.
