IzButt Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Lucky all of you who have already met em I hope I meet any of the guys at least once in my life. The past several times I had chances but never did, like an idiot. My chances were always foiled by something else.I am going to try this time they are on tour. If I can't I'll at least try to paper airplane one of my drawings on stage.I don't know how I'd react when I'd meet them. I know if I had fans after show I would not want to hear a bunch of stupid screaming after a long night, so I don't think I'd behave that way. I bet you I'd just freeze up standing there smiling my face off. And then I'd collapse and not get up for several hours.

IzButt Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 That was me. so completely starstruck in the presence of Mike Dirnt. XD Man he sounds like such a nice guy.
Krist Cool Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 At the Chicago gig on Monday I waited by the buses, but then this girl rolled under the fence and the door was closed but someone opened it and walked through, then came back out.Security said for everyone to leave, so my plan was foiled. But hopefully if they come back next spring or something I'll be able to meet them. But congrats to those who did. I honestly don't know what I'd do, I just wouldn't wanna go, "OMG like I love you guys!"
lobob92345 Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 He was really really nice and patient with all the fans... He also seemed pretty sincere.I think that was one of the reasons I was so silent though, because I didn't want to sound like one of those really annoying groveling fans... so I couldn't quite figure out how to voice my respect and everything. Hopefully next time I'll be calm enough to talk.
Miqui_Dee Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 ok... I have a question...At what point after meeting them should you be concerned about still being in shock???It's been 4 days and I'm still freaking out about it at spontaneous times in my day.. It's getting on my friend's nerves. :whistling:I'm still in shock and it's almost been 4 years. Someone call an ambulance...
lobob92345 Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 haha ok if you're 4 years in and still in shock I'm not going to worry too much.
alaniluau Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I never officially 'met' them. I got to hug Billie when I went up on stage for Longview D:And at the Foxboro show in Phoenix, I poked Jason Freese's leg and waved to him and high fived Jason White cause the idiots standing in front of Libby and I were blocking the stage. Mr. White looked so lonely :[ Everyone was over with the rest of the band D: So I was all "JAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYSON WHITE." and he looked at me and I waved and high fived him :]That's so sad. Good for you for saying hi. Jason never gets enough appreciation. I really admire him as a musician and I enjoy his work in all of the bands he's involved with, particularly The Influents. I'm just as crazy about him as I am about Billie Joe and Mike. I'd love to meet him one day.
incendiary girl Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 i'd call a doctor after 10 days...and drink plenty of water! I've really had to stop talking about green day with my friends. they are getting freaked out by it. Your friends too? My friends from junior high and high school know about my crazy love for Green Day, but my newer friends (college and coworkers) are always a little shocked by my love for the band. They're always like, "Green Day...really?". *Sigh* They just don't get it...

jayjaded Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Great story, good for you! So what does Mike do after shows and on days off? got any more details?Yeah he said he likes to get to know a city. But said that lately there has been no time. But he did say he was happy that he went for supper with his wife in Chicago where she is from
Jack96 Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I would like to get an opportunity to meet them, but not at a meet and greet like the ones at fucking Hot Topic.Yeah itd be gret to actually have a proper talk with them
fatherotti Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 its very easy to run into them here in California, around the SF Bay Area of course.....Mike is probably the easiest to run into cause he'll most likely be at Rudy's Cant Fail Cafe,in case you guys dont know Mike owns a restaurant called Rudy's Cant Fail Cafe in Emeryville
norcalgreendayfan Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 its very easy to run into them here in California, around the SF Bay Area of course.....Mike is probably the easiest to run into cause he'll most likely be at Rudy's Cant Fail Cafe,in case you guys dont know Mike owns a restaurant called Rudy's Cant Fail Cafe in Emeryville Well damn I've lived out here all my life and never ran in to them once, of course I wasnt really actively staking them out or anything like that
SOMERTEN Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Yeah he said he likes to get to know a city. But said that lately there has been no time. But he did say he was happy that he went for supper with his wife in Chicago where she is from Ah that's nice. Thanks for the info. Is this where Mike was when Billie and Tre were at the baseball game I wonder.Wonder if Brixton is on tour too? rock and roll baby!
Nymrawd Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 reading all of this...im so jealous  one day....one day.
Kryssi. Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I'm going to be waiting after the O2 and Wembley dates hoping to catch a glimpse of them... hopefully I'll get to meet one of them.
norcalgreendayfan Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I'm going to be waiting after the O2 and Wembley dates hoping to catch a glimpse of them... hopefully I'll get to meet one of them.I'm sticking around the arena after the San Jose show for as long as I can after in the hopes of seeing them go out, I just hope security wont be a pain
Kryssi. Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Ah, sometimes they really can be. I've never waited outside a Green Day show before, but the past two times I've been to a Katy Perry concert, I've been real close to meeting her. Like the first time, it was inside the venue after she had finished but security were pushing people away and Katy's PR came out and asked this guy she recognised who was still waiting around who was on the forum and I was, he knew I was but he didn't say that.. so that was a close one. And at the 2nd show, i should've waited like half an hour to an hour after the show and i would've met her.
Juliette Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I'm going to the first O2 gig on Friday 23rd, so if you're going to that one I'll see you there, definitely gonna hang around afterwards just in case and I know I'm not the only one! And if not I have a feeling there will be plenty of other GDCers up for a bit of stalking at any of the UK gigs Hell. Yes.
lookoutrebelgirl Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I met them and I cryed. It makes me feel kind of lame but that band means a lot to me personally and I was telling them that and yeah then came the waterworks.
Guest Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I just got home from the Ottawa show and on the way home in Montreal I see Mike Dirnt standing outside a hotel. We parked and went up to him and talked for 30 mins about his macbeths, old shows in Montreal and some Uk shows came up too. He told me to upload all my old shows on Youtube cause he loves seeing them. He was a total sweetheart. We even gossiped about another prominent Montreal pop punk band. He told us about what he does after shows and days off and offered tickets from tomorrows Montreal show. Totally the coolest dude. Billie passed by too and I had a quick talk about the nights show and requests.Tre ignored us when we said hi.P.s. They played Coming Clean, 2000 Light Years Away and Welcome to Paradise tonight!!!Mike gave us guitar pics too!!!lol tre just straight up ignored you? not gonna lie, thats kinda shitty
Zalex Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 its very easy to run into them here in California, around the SF Bay Area of course.....Mike is probably the easiest to run into cause he'll most likely be at Rudy's Cant Fail Cafe,in case you guys dont know Mike owns a restaurant called Rudy's Cant Fail Cafe in Emeryville The one time I went there in July 2007 every time somebody opened the door me and my friend would shoot a glance to see if it was him. No luck
