^ People were booing? That's fucking shocking, man.

Out of all of the guys, I think Tre seems to be the one that is the most uncomfortable in fan situations.

Definitely. He wasn't as friendly and chatty as Billie Joe and Mike were. I wouldn't put that down to him being an asshole, you could just tell that he wasn't as comfortable with talking to fans. We all see Tre as this hyper character in videos, interviews etc.....I mean, he licked my hair when I met him....but I think that's his way of dealing with his awkardness. Does that even make sense?

Most bands I know love meeting and talking to fans. Why should Green Day be any different?

they seemed pleased to speak with their fans the nights I spoke to them.

Billie was so surprised to hear I had gone to the PHGP concert and wanted to know which one.

They seemed genuinely impressed that we had come from all around the country to see them and mike even gave Angeline a hard time about it taking her less time to get to Phoenix from Ireland than it took them by bus!

I think sometimes they just don't want the hassle of autographs and stuff because it can get out of control and never ending.

Tre didnt want pictures in Arkansas but he talked to us just fine. AND in Phoenix when it was just me and Cheryl, he pursued conversations and loved it and came out when we brought him presents! Its just when fans from the lobby started running out he was like gotta go, see ya tonight and, we laughed and said Later!

Yeah. I'm sure it was only one or two people or whatever, but it was awful. And I suppose they even expected it because he was shuffled out quickly by two bodyguards. (It was at the New York Times interview.)

I've never talked to Tre, so I don't know. In New Orleans at the FBHT show he was the one who was hanging around outside the most, before the show, so he seemed kind of more accessible. He even asked the people in line for a ride to the music store! :D

Maybe they were booing the bodyguards that were making him leave?

I think then it depends on Tre's mood, I have known some people to meet him and he was really kind of stand off-ish and looked quite uncomfortable. Meh XD

I like that interpretation a lot better! :D

^I reckon you're spot on with that Leanne (although obviously I haven't met them!). From everything I've seen and read, he just seems to find the whole fan thing a little weird.

In fact I think all of them do to an extent - probably because they're so grounded and down to earth, and don't act like big-headed celebrities. It must be a bit strange to be put on such a pedestal even after all these years, because away from the stage they live such 'normal' family lives. But they all seem to try their best.

I think over the years the other two have got much more comfortable with their fame, especially Billie Joe. They seem a lot more at ease with fans these days. Maybe Tre just doesn't take to dealing with fans quite as naturally. Can't say I blame him really.

The autograph and photo thing is almost like an extension or the "Youtube camera in yer face" thing to them I think - I think it was Mike that didn't want to do autographs - but was quite happy to talk to people - it's about the moment - not evidence of the moment.

I don't think so, I don't think they mind at all, I just think they like it on their terms. It appeared to me that they wanna do it when they are in the mood to do it.

I think the annoying OMG stuff gets old.

Mike just didnt want to get started with signing because he thought it would never end, but he ended up doing it anyway once he realized it was just a small crowd!

That sucks. I feel for you, I've never seen them live either. It's a shame you only have a small chance to see them in concert, but it's not the end of the world. If you think about it, a concert would only be a couple of hours of your life, and then it would be over.

It'd be cool to see them live, sure. But what's even better is getting to listen to and appreciate their music and lyrics every day for the rest of our lives if we want. Nevermind if other people want to listen to crappy music, you can enjoy your fabulous Green Day CDs. And if you wanna chat about the wonderful Green Day boys and their music, you can come on here to do it :)

I think Tre was pretty sociable when he saw me and opened the bus window in Phoenix to ask about my shirt. He was in a joking kinda mood and really happy. I was texting someone as I was walking out toward the bus, so I heard him before I saw him. I didn't look for him to do it or pursue him in any way (I was looking for someone else... :whistling: ), so maybe yeah, on his terms, it was ok.

I am usually pretty laid back and shy (*coughchickencough*), but I'm glad I acted somewhat not myself that day and went in that hotel. Sometimes, I think, you just have to take destiny into your own hands, and I don't think Tre minded at all. I could've taken a dump in any hotel, but eh, I chose that one, and I got the thrill of a lifetime. AND helped give a thrill to someone else, when Beth and I gave him gifts.

With Tre, of course he loves meeting the fans, but it's more of the OMG IT'S TRE COOL teenie/super fangirl stuff that freaks him out and he hates being around. I don't blame him.

Yeah, well, I'm no teenie/super fangirl, that's for sure! :ninja:

Me neither. :ninja:

I think if people just talked to him normally he'd feel more comfortable.

It's a good thing I know how to control myself. :shifty:

yeah, well, you can't get more normal than talking about tee shirts and shit, lol.

I was surprised that I actually did control myself, but I was caught off guard, and it was Tre. I think it would've definitely been different if it was Billie Joe talking to me. Come to think of it, when we were all talking to Mike, all I managed to say was, 'Congratulations'. Going in that progression, by the time I would've gotten to Billie, I would've just had the plastered smile on my face, and looked like I had too much Prozac or sth.

Haha yeah that's extremely normal. :P

I dunno what I'd do if I met them. I've met famous people before and I was pretty chill and laid back and spoke about random stuff. I remember how fast my heart was racing once and I somehow fought the urge to freak out. I was shaking like fuck afterward though.

And I'm severely spamming this topic up because I've never met the guys. :ninja:

Bret Michaels, for one.

As much as I would hope not to turn into a fangirl, I'm pretty sure it would happen.

Okie dokie...

I first saw Tre out on the street in front of Emo's in Austin. All I could do was scream at him like an obnoxious fan girl. After I stopped trembling, GAH I was embarrassed. I'm a grown ass woman! I swore if I got another shot at that, I'd do better than "SQUEEE" or whatever fan girl sound that came out of my throat...

Anyhoo, then we got to hear them rehearse Stop Drop & Roll (I think) and Mother Mary, which was freakin' suuuhweet. I teared up at that... And saw Mike Dirnt come out of the show area, and I don't think I've ever felt such a surreal moment in my life. There his is. There he went. Wow lol

I was standing in line to get into the stage area and someone said, "Hey, Jason White!" I looked, and there he was, literally chest to chest w/ me. I jumped like someone slapped me. I patted him on the shoulder and said, "Hey man!" He said, "hey! How you doing?" So on and so forth, he was super nice.

And then the end all be all.

I met Tre Cool.

He was standing at the bar, talking to this chick who had just had BJ's autograph tattooed onto her arm. He was saying, "Wow! That's intense! That's devotion!" Then he turned and pointed at me, "She's a better fan than you are!" I shook my finger at him and said, "no, no, no, look. Me and my best friend have matching ones," and pointed at my Kerplunk daisy on my ankle. He looked and smiled and said, "Niiiiiice, that is awesome!" and turned around back to the bar. I stood there, waiting for him to stop talking to the bartender, and when he finally did, I had my shot, and I by God took it. I put my hand on his shoulder, and I can still see it in my mind, him turning around to look at me. I said, "I came all the way from Alabama, could you pleeease sign these for me and my friend?" he turned around stood up, and took the 45's, and a marker from some deerinheadlights fan girl and said, "I came from California! I win!" To which my dumb ass replied, "Isn't that closer?" he signed them and kinda chuckled and asked me, "Did you have geography in school?" I sez "Dude, it's been a while," he smiles, hands me back my records, and sits back down. I pat him on the shoulder again and say, "Thank you soooo much," and I leave him alone. GOD he smelled good.

And I held hands w/ Billie Joe. And he shook his Raggedy Andy head and I got covered in sweat. Got Mike's beer in my eye. And locked eyes w/ Tre for a good 20 seconds, which rocked my freakin' socks. Basically I got into a staring contest w/ him, I guess lol I finally gave him a big smile, and he smiled back, and looked away. No doubt remembering the retard from Alabama who doesn't know geography. Oh well! I made an impression! AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! I look forward to posting again when I meet the rest of them. And I will meet the rest of them. Miracles happen everyday, people.
