drumstick Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 omfg....Im so jealous to all of you guys who see them especially MEET them!!!!!!!!I live for this fuckin' day when I gonna see them...Im fucking freak out of all this "waiting" **and I'm so tired, tired of waiting, tired of waiting for.... GREEN DAY CONCERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!** :(
Boston Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Its not like meeting them would change your life, really. It'd kind of be like "...hi guys." and that's about it.
Hermione Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 ^Maybe not for you. But for me at least even though it obviously wouldn't change my life, it would still be an amazing experience to meet or even just see those blokes that I admire so much. Meeting your idols even for a second would certainly feel like more than just "hi guys", it would be unforgetable. You only have to hear about the fantastic experiences of those who met/saw them at the Foxboro shows to see that.
Guest give me novacaine-jos Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 ^^that's tue! i wish i could see them!!!
drumstick Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 omg...you guys now make me cry Believe me, that would change my life 4ever...I love them so much...When I just imagine Billie standing a few foots from me awwwww I will probably fall in dizziness
farley drexel hatcher Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Maybe it's just me, but if I did meet them I don't think I would ever be able to act like that. I think I would be feeling it to an extent, but I just would never show it. If it was after a show i'd probably almost certainily tell them the show was great, and all that, and i'd say hi and everything, but I wouldn't cry or go over the top. I wouldn't want them to go away thinking "there goes another one". That's probably just me, though.

There's no way I'd want to act like that infront of them, they must get that all the time. I'd try as hard as possible to keep my cool, and save freaking out for afterwards! It would be strange though, I mean it's such a unique situation. As a fan who admires them but doesn't know them, there's not much you could say to them that wouldn't make you look like a bit of an obsessive weirdo , because all you'd be doing is complementing them. I'm prepared for the fact that if I ever was lucky enough to meet them, while for me it would be amazing, to them it's just another day and another fan, so I wouldn't taint the experience by weirding them out .
Miqui_Dee Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 It's actually pretty life changing to have Tre Cool walk past and comment on your t-shirt and your dad's cooking. And to also see Tre act like a chicken and accuse you of cheating in a card game. Aaahhhhh. Tre. Meeting him was the best thing ever. I can never thank my dad enough for having the job of backstage caterer.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 I have met and talked to Billie once, Tre and Mike twice and they are just normal nice guys. Maybe its my age, but I remained calm, talked to them about band related stuff and to Billie about his kids, told them what a great show it was and thanked them for their awesome music and that kind of stuff. They are all really down to earth (except I am not sure about Tre.....) It wasn't life changing, but I sure was happy!
parinaz Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 but I also know Billie doesnt use myspace or whatever to chat to people. sorry but those accounts are fakes.but he's got an email certainly.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 but he's got an email certainly.I am sure he has an email, but as I told you when I went to Pinhead, he would never give that to his fans and normal people would never ask for it.
Hermione Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 ^^^That's so awesome. See that's exactly why I can't imagine myself freaking out or crying or anything like that, because all I've ever heard is that they're so down to earth, so that would put you at ease. I've always imagined at the time it would be a pleasant, calm experience. Then afterwards I'd be like "whoa, did that really just happen?" If anything, I think I'd feel in awe of them rather than going crazy, because it would be so surreal to see them in the flesh.

I know everyone I was with at those shows feels the same way..
Hermione Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 But just in case, you have the photographic evidence to prove it
**nobodylikesyou** Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 But just in case, you have the photographic evidence to prove it thats right. I just went and reread my recap to see what I talked to them about ....http://www.greendaycommunity.org/Forum/ind...0395&st=564
Hermione Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 Haha, I'd almost forgotten about your epic recap, t'was a very enjoyable story. Even though it makes me jealous as hell, I love reading about people's experiences going to Green Day concerts or meeting them, it'll tide me over until they next get their asses over to England.

Jack96 Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 thats right. I just went and reread my recap to see what I talked to them about ....http://www.greendaycommunity.org/Forum/ind...0395&st=564You are so lucky! Im hopefully goin to see them next time they come to AUSTRALIA!
Fuzz Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 I was a bit too awe struck to get any decent questions out. When i talked to Mike it was just sorta looking at him like "whoa, there is in person" and looked his tattoos. All i said was from GDA and the show was great. I had a few questions I wanted to ask, but all of them slipped my mind in the moment.
Guest billy024 Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 i hope to meet green day.i would want to talk to each member as a person, rather than a band.one of the things i would mention to them is saying something along the lines ofi'm sure you talk about being in one of the biggest rock bands ever, so i'd rather not ask cliche questions or talk about the same old thing.i'd like to ask billie about some guitar questions and his family.i'd like to to talk to mike about coffee and cooking, seeing as i enjoy cooking also.and then i'd ask tre about what drives him to be such a wild person.

mbk Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 I`ve met the full band as well remember.I don't think I've heard your story netty! Maybe you're tired of repeating it, and maybe it's already in this thread, but... curious? For me, I think it's a little odd to talk to them. It's great of course, but in the end it feels like an imposition. There are so many people who want to have some contact with them, and they're so gracious about it, half the time I don't feel like I want to be another person who wants something from them. Billie Joe himself talked about seeing Kurt Cobain and not wanting to bother him, and he didn't. There have been occasions when I could have talked to them, or at least tried to, but I chose not to bother them. And other times when I did. I've talked to Billie Joe twice, once in 1994 and once at the FBHT show, and the last time I only made myself bother him to ask if he would say hi to everyone who visits GDA, because I didn't want to bother him just for me. It's partly my own shyness and partly just not wanting to ask for a piece of him, I guess. In the end, I think we all get them at their best: when they're playing music. That's when they're at their greatest.
piratepalmer Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 ^ Yeah - I honestly don't think I'd talk to him if I met him; I might go up, put a beer in his hand and slap him on the back with a wink - but that would be it. I hate being a "fan" :/
TotalBasketCase13 Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Most bands I know love meeting and talking to fans. Why should Green Day be any different?
mbk Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Most bands I know love meeting and talking to fans. Why should Green Day be any different?I agree with you on that. I'm sure they do love it. It's just that it's so much. There are so many people who want to talk to them that it may get to be a bit overwhelming and tiring? After some of the FBHT dates, Billie Joe didn't even come out to talk to fans. I don't think it's that he didn't want to, but maybe that it was just too much?At one event where he was signing stuff for people a few years ago, he had to leave before he could get to everyone, and people actually yelled at him and booed him!!!! It's like he can't win, you know?
