Just wanted to say it is disappointing that the only people really posting here are the ones that got up on stage and didn't actually 'meet' the band as such. Are there that few fans that actually met them or got photos etc on this tour? It would be nice to hear some stories for a change. Are there no competition winners etc?

Sorry to the real fans that love getting on stage and have been fans for years (love the girl that hugged Mike - Go Pinky!) but some of the people that have done it in the past are more interested in talking about themselves than the band and milk it to death, (who cares?) Most of them don't even know the lyrics to the song they murder.

Get out there and meet your fans boys!!!!

There are a lot of people who met them and wrote in this thread, you just have to search^^

And the title of this thread is Meeting/Kissingg/etc. GD so it's also for people who got on stage.

Oh and trust me, everyone who wrote in this thread that he/she was on stage knows the lyrics to the song he/she has played, sung.

We're just talking about the great experiences we've made, being on stage was probably the best time of our lives , so let us talk about it.

Am I the only the one that considers getting on stage meeting them? Like, hugging Billie, talking to him - that's meeting imo. It's not proper or anything, but..yeah. I'd much rather be on stage and have a moment like singing Longview and dancing with them like an idiot than anything else.

Yeah I agree, I think being onstage with them is kind of the ultimate. Though just being in their presence is enough to make me get all giggly.

I'd pick getting on stage over meeting them in person any day.

Being with them on stage is like the ultimate encounter, I think. You're with them when they're in their element and they're doing exactly what you love most about them. Playing!! But meeting them in person would be incredible as well, [of course!] and I would love to meet them all in person one day just to hear their thoughts and opinions on certain issues

Yeah, I'd to have a conversation with green day about something interesting, has anyone here ever done that? I'm sure some people have?

Posted

I'm sure they have. I don't know how long you can talk to them for at a meet n' greet, but I'm sure people have had some interesting conversations! Some have learned what the Bullwinkle is :P

I'd say the best time to catch Mike is probably in the morning when he gets his coffee

Remember that interview on the radio station in Birmingham? He was like "All these kids came in to the coffee shop asking me for autographs and pictures and I was like, 'y'know, why don't we just hang out for a bit instead?' " Such a legend!!!

LOLOL, Mike.

I thought that was really cool of Mike, on the radio. That place where they recorded that interview, I saw those windows and was looking into them for ages and wondering what the hell they were

Posted

I love how their so cool to their fans, they actaully talk to them/us whatever, without being all "oh we're big famous rockstars we don't talk to little people."

That reminds me of Billie from that interview where he's like, "We just want to thank the little people." or something.

But yeah. They take the time to talk to us, which is grand. Most bands and artists go the extra mile to avoid their fans, but Green Day don't.

I've not so much met them but at Manchester this year during Joan Jett (I have a proper short attention span) I was just looking round as you do and I saw Tré so I nudged my mate and he looked over at us, so we both waved and he waved back, then we just screamed like mad so everyone else stood up to look at him but he was gone by then.

Then I went for a wander up and down the seats and I turned my head and I saw Mike walk towards the VIP bit, so I just stood there and thought "Fuck it, I'll wait till he comes back and see if he waves" So he came back so I shouted "MIKE" and he turned round and waved at me! :D :D

I know thats not meeting them, well it is kinda in a way xD I guess?

I touched Mike's hand at Birmingham last year? Thats as far as I've got LOL.

whenever i met tre and jason white in a gift shop i can't really remember much of what we talked about, but they stood there and talked to us for ten minutes or so which was really cool of them since we just interuppted their shopping trip haha. but tre threw some fake balls at jason and kept playing with everything in the store, and jason said he had a fifteen pound newborn baby...

then later on that day when i was coming out of a resteraunt i looked up and tre was looking out the window of the van in front of my friends and i, waving at us. but the light changed and the van was gone before i even had a chance to react haha. but i thought it was really nice that he waved at us/remembered us.

i can't remember if i already posted in this thread so sorry if its a repeat haha.

Billie gave me a kiss on the cheek

and I generally swarved (I hope that's a word...) around them for two and a half minutes.

and I got my own personal wave and "I gotta go"-gesture from Mike in Paris, haha.

These stories are just amazing and i love hearing all of them. Its amazing that so many us of GDC people have been up there. I have to admit it i hope i'm as lucky as all of you. It would be just amazing to meet Billie, Mike, or Tre.

I did get to meet Jason F in Cally after the New Year Eve show. I notice him walk right past my friends and I. I walked over to where he went and he was so friendly! He took a photo with my friend and me. I was such an amazing show.

Oh that's cool! It sounds like you were right near where I was sitting at Manchester! I saw Tre and Mike over the fence too and we were screaming aswell! I didn't wave at them though-just gawped and screamed. I couldn't help it! :whistle ...I guess I've gone off topic. Whoops!

the only thing tha happened to me is that Billie Joe smiled me and told me "i love you too" and Adrienne said me hello while she was leaving the stadium lol

that's all

I feel so damn lucky because I got a lot of attention from them in Marlay Park and Mainz.

And Mike remembered Melanie and I in Paris and winked at us

I "met" the more than lifesize picture of Green Day on the cover of Rolling Stone on the Rolling Stone LA building today

probably the closest I'll get to meeting them  (minus getting on stage :D)

Although I got on stage and feel so lucky for that, I won't feel like I've 'met' them until I run into them on the street somewhere or something like that! I'd like to hear some stories about people bumping into them too.

We were lucky enough to have a lot of interaction at the shows that we were at and then Glasgow was pretty awesome for me, for obvious reasons...

Oh - I'm tall-ish for a girl (5'9"ish) but it still looks in the photos that Billie had to bend down to give me a kiss haha

my friend got backstage tickets because he knew someone that worked at the arena, but by the time he got backstage green day had left :o

i think they did the foxboro hottubs show that night though so it wasnt like they just got out of there as soon as it had finished

I didn't get to meet them....

but when i was at the Manchester gig at the LCCC back in june, i was about three rows from the stage and Mike was standing right in front of us so i was like "MIIIKE!!" and he looked at me and grinned :D

Oh and i got soaked when Tre was squirting the water gun! :D

i won passes to the 'backstage soundcheck party' for the show i'm going to in two days. i'm not sure what to expect since i've never been to one before in all the concerts i've seen, but i do hope i can at least shake hands or hug the guys! or just say something to make them smile. :)

That's so cool, congratulations! Can't wait to hear about how it goes, even just getting to be inside watching soundcheck would be awesome, talking to them as well would be such a bonus, good luck :D

I am yet to meet the guys properly :/ I still have this feeling that its just never going to happen for me. I have had countless moments of interaction with them while they've been on stage, like pulling faces with each other and ROCK WERCHTER

Even disregarding the vest giving, I also had a lot of moments with the guys that night cause I had "last show" written on my arm and they were all like " :( aawww" and Mike was telling me not to be sad but to be happy and enjoy "now".

For me, that night, having him look at me at the end of the show and telling me to wait and then having Micah give me the vest, was as well as being waved at by Billie and Tre at the Manchester soundcheck, Billie talking to us at Dublin soundcheck, and getting on stage in Perth obviously - its enough for me. I want the opportunity to thank them all of course, but really, I am happy and I don't think I'm supposed to meet them.

Thank you :) You sound like you've had many great experiences though! Oh and your vest looks pretty snazzy on Mike ;-P You never know though, you maybe one day have the crazy never-expected encounter, so don't think it wasn't meant for you to one day meet them and be able to say 'thank you.' :-D
