justbishop Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 I'd try Good Riddance. That's one of the first things I learned, and the chords in it are fairly easy, useful in other songs, and are tough enough to be a bit of a challenge. Plus you can practice picking.

owain Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 brain stew has almost an identical chord run to papa roche's "last resort" so u can learn both at the same time
justbishop Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 i can kinda play that.. i just cant get the right rythm... or however you spell that word... What, like the strum pattern? Or the picking?
dirnt06 Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 walking contradiction brainstew r both really easy most gd only hav a few chords so its prety easy 2 pick them up! What, like the strum pattern? Or the picking? ive bin tryin good riddance 4 weeks now n i still cnt get it right i suggest tryin it when ur a bit more advanced i lernt the american idiot main riff (not the solo its a bastard 2 master) in abt 5 min only 5/6 diff chords
Minna Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 They're all really really easy, because the whole thing is just 3 or 4 chords with a pretty easy solo.
Donkey Fly Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 All Green Day Songs Are Easy.. The Only Ones That May Test You Are The Ones Of 1039 Smooth....
DarknessFury Posted December 21, 2005 Author Posted December 21, 2005 All I need to master now is the speed. I just can't get my fingers to chnage chords fast enough.
rudiecantfail Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 The solos on 1039 Smooth are like woah. I don't even try them haha.
Mistle Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Try.... any song with power chords *cough*green day*cough*
xXDissapearing.GirlXx Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Well the first song I ever learned on guitar was basket case. That ones pretty easy. It has VERY easy strumming.

DarknessFury Posted December 21, 2005 Author Posted December 21, 2005 Power chords as in *cough* 3 - *cough* 4 *cough* *cough* chords? *cough*
Donkey Fly Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 All I need to master now is the speed. I just can't get my fingers to chnage chords fast enough. It's will come in time Power chords as in *cough* 3 - *cough* 4 *cough* *cough* chords? *cough* And so what.....I don't know why your complaining about the amount of Power Chords in their music. I mean so what , the music is good and Green Day is not the only band who does that.
DarknessFury Posted December 21, 2005 Author Posted December 21, 2005 I'm not complaining! I'm just asking if they're 3 - 4 chords, that's all.
Guest Immortality Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Holiday is really easy, minus the solo. The chords are all power cords. The progression is easy to memorize. American Idiot is a simple chord thing too, it's just the pace that would be hard.
DarknessFury Posted December 21, 2005 Author Posted December 21, 2005 Yea, pacing's what stopping me from playing better music...although my finger postions aren't the best yet.
Guest Immortality Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Well, my teacher taught me the momentum effect, how to practice fast songs extremely slowly and just keep upping the speed each time. Repeat the line you wanna master over and over til the omentum just whips you through it. Holiday is easier than AI because you can slide to all the chords.
wowhoworiginalisthis Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 -steps away from the thread- i know how to handle a guitar...but when it comes to play riffs....hehe....yeah... -steps back further-
Child_of_a_Nimrod Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I think all by myself is easy^^i started saturday to play the guitar and I try to learn wake me up when september ends... I think except the choros it's easy ^^
DarknessFury Posted December 25, 2005 Author Posted December 25, 2005 I've seen a few versions of Brain Stew chords. Some uses three chords while some uses two. Which one do you normally play with?
st.billie Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 i'm trying to learn Brain Stew too, my version has 5 chords. the problem i have are freakin power chords, i just can't get my fingers to do what i want *freak* and try Good Riddance, i have been playing a guitar just like for a month, don't have teacher or anything, and i learned it in like 3 days. and All By Myself, but you don't have really anything to play in that song
*~KIMMY~* Posted December 25, 2005 Posted December 25, 2005 i just started learnin how to play the guitar, and me teacher taught me how to play brainstew some of longview and a mate of mine is showing me how to play american idiot
Green Day Doll Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 I just got my guitar today..it's a really pretty acoustic. Yippy Skippy! My brother's teaching me some stuff, and the rest I'm learning online, lol. But anyways, back on topic...I've already figured out the intro for WMUWSE, and I can play All By Myself for the most part.I've also heard that one of the more simpler songs is Are We The Waiting, because it's only 2 chords or so,lol, so that's what I'm gonna try next. Hope this helps you at all....cuz this post isn't really making sense on my part, lol.
