Hermione Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 ^ Do you think so? I've always thought of AI as the darker album....which songs particularly in 21CB do you think come from Billie's dark place (so to speak) I'll have to have a listen and pay more attention....I think 21st CB is very dark too. I remember when the lyrics were released a few weeks before the album they struck me as being SO dark, almost completely hopeless. There's still that light at the end of the tunnel but they really do seem bleak when you look at the them without the music there to lift them. When I'm listening to 21st CB, even in the more positive songs I can feel a dark undercurrent that isn't there with AI. The emotion seems rawer and closer to the bone somehow, there's a sadness running through it.
Peace and Rainbows Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Before the lobotomy and Wake Me up When September ends

Modern Zero. Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 No Green Day song depresses me per se, but I do get sad with certain songs like...1. No One Knows (I LOVE this song. ) 2. WMUWSE 3. Restless Heart Syndrome 4. 21 Guns 5. Before The Lobotomy 6. Whatsername7. Give Me Novacaine
.Militza. Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 WMUWSE Macy's day parade Give me novacaine 21 guns before the lobotomy. All this songs make me sad , but sometimes, it depends how I feel atm
Jon Benjamin Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 a lot of them on 21cbd. my dad wasn't here most of my life and my parents were gonna get back together and just like that im not allowed to see my dad til im 18. the 15th and that weekend we listened to that album probably 5 times and we both enjoyed it so much. he was gonna take me to see them this summer but not now so much has sucked since then
Kaddi. Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 There's no Green Day song that really depresses me, but every time I listen to Whatsername, I get lost in my thoughts. I start to think without really noticing it and I always stop thinking when the song is over and then I realize that I haven't really listened to it because of the thinking.Sorry... my English really sucks these days Edit: Uhm now that I think about it... ¿Viva La Gloria? (Little Girl) sometimes depresses me, because I can relate to is so well.
Kayfabe Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Homecoming. The first time I listened to American Idiot (album) all the way through, I teared up when "Jimmy died today/ he blew his brains out into the bay'. Still gets to me to this day I can't believe they killed Jimmy off christie road, whatsername, wake me up when september endsA lot of Kerplunk songs remind me of... better times with friends when everything was simple, sometimes I skip Christie Road because it sounds exactly like where 'we' used to go See the hills from afarstandin' on my beat up carthe sun went downand the night fills the sky... And also no one knowswhy should my fun have to endfor me it's only the beginning oh God i need a hanky. On the other hand, when I'm feeling sad I listen to King for a Day, there's no way that song can't make me smile
Comrade Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 No Green Day song makes me sad per se, but I gues WMUWSE and BOBD kinda have that melancholy attitude...
The Disappearing Boy Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 none. I never have been able to understand how or why people can make an emotional attachment to a song.
Guest Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Wake Me Up When Septemeber Ends. It Just Punches Me In My Stomach When They Hit The Solo.
Eirik Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I never have been able to understand how or why people can make an emotional attachment to a song.Hmmm, seriously?
The Disappearing Boy Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Hmmm, seriously?Yep.Don't get me wrong, I like/dislike songs as normal, but I have never been able to get emotional over songs. The same goes for movies and books.
nsathin Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 http://www.song-list.net/greenday/2000lightyearsaway/tracks cute song which i like. :eyebrows: :eyebrows:
L0205H Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I was really homesick once, and Welcome To Paradise made me cry. I think it was because it was literally too close to home and everything. "This sudden fear has left me tremblingCause now it seems that I am out here on my ownAnd I'm feeling so alonePay attention to the cracked streets and the broken homesSome call it slums some call it niceI wanna take you through a wasteland I like to call my homeWelcome to paradise..."Then Macy's Day Parade... hahaha. That was one rough night.
bjrules Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I burst into tears last year on school camp when Wake Me Up When September Ends came on the radio. I was just so fucking homesick, and hated that camp so much, and that song came on and I was crying, and everyone was like "What's wrong?". Very embarrassing.

Very embarrassing.tbh, I can't see how people can get homesick. The only time I've cried on camp was when I was hiking in a forest/bush and it was really, really dark and windy and I saw some 'gollem'-like creature in the dark and fuckkkkkk it was SO scary and I started crying when I got to the camp site casue I was so tried(hiking) and my mind was playing tricks on me and I thought I was going crazy.ANYWAY. Macy's Day Parade and WMUWSE gets me, but I never really cry...
JohnnyNapalm Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 restless heart syndrome....and platypus i hate you. but i still love it! (:
newsflash777 Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I became a fan during the AI era, not to sound like a total Green Day hypocrate, and so I have an emotional attachement to that entire album, because that was the only time in my entire life I was "myself"And then I completely lost it, and I'm in the process of finding myself through their music yet again. This is why they mean, absolutely the world to me. So-Letterbomb, Are we the waiting Whatsername and Wake Me Up.I CANNOT listen to those songs without seriously having a breakdown
