Lark Posted Friday at 05:56 PM Posted Friday at 05:56 PM Someone mentioned the possibility of the invite only concert this week being what gets aired before the Super Bowl. Thoughts? Quote

Thoughts? I don't believe so. There was an interview for iHeart, and they asked about the Super Bowl invite only thing, but it seemed like Billie was going to talk about the super bowl performance. I think he tried to say it twice or so before he realized that they were asking about the party beforehand. 2 Quote

arcadiagay Posted Friday at 11:35 PM Posted Friday at 11:35 PM Quote Ron Favali, Principal at The Message Garage, speculated Green Day's message at the show won't necessarily be divisive. He stressed that there's another element to the pop punk band's performances — and it's one of unity. He told the Mirror US, "During live shows, Armstrong frequently emphasizes community, inclusion, and the idea that Green Day concerts are safe spaces for everyone in attendance. "That message — unity, belonging, and shared experience — is ultimately the version of Green Day we’re most likely to see on a stage with the global reach of the Super Bowl." Honestly, a version I hadn't even thought of. But one that is most likely, I think. Fun article though. 2 Quote

Thoughts? Likely. I knew someone who was invited to be on the field for a Super Bowl halftime show. They had very specific instructions about where to stand, when to move and what to do. If the Green Day show is being televised, I can't imagine the NFL wanting anything less than total control. And by total control, I mean total. They made Flea pre-record his parts and play unplugged for RHCP's halftime show because they didn't want any chance of anything being fucked up. Basically the only music actually being performed live at most Super Bowl performances is the drums and the lead vocal. 2 Quote

But isn’t the lead vocal the „dangerous“ part in a GD performance?😂 8 hours ago, Paola17 said: I don't believe so. Yes, and he said something like „we mustn’t say“, probably because it wasn’t official at that moment. 3 Quote
jengd Posted Saturday at 08:44 AM Posted Saturday at 08:44 AM I have no idea what an “MVP” is or whatever it is but depending on the set up GD may be there almost as background music, the focus may be more on the other people so it could be a difficult line for them. If they go off script it could look disrespectful but that hopefully won’t stop them playing at least one song with a clear message, or maybe a message in a t-shirt depending on how dance Billie decides to dress. 4 Quote

Very likely, especially since the song can also be interpreted in a sports context. It's a perfect double entendre. Remember this promo from back in 2009? 5 Quote
sergiewoo Posted Saturday at 10:37 AM Posted Saturday at 10:37 AM I think im a little scared and excited for how green day will present themselves during the performance. It seems like there's going to be a bit (or maybe even a lot) of control involved in this and if that's so they're obviously going to find a way to put a message out in one way or another 4 Quote

On social media there is so much excitement about their performance and really high expectations. I hope the band doesn’t feel pressured too much. I hope they‘ll manage to have a great performance with a message! 4 Quote

Dedicate it to a different person each time, and give a different person the floor each time around. The homophobic slur in there can be easily replaced with other slurs each time. 9 Quote
