Check the internet he says at times they partied other times Blink would fight with their manager…any context…sad GD hated opening for them and that it was a tough pill to swallow called them rival gangs who hate/respect each other…asked them for a rematch to tour and says Green Day have ducked….I knew they hated each other but I have a feeling this is going to give our Bo s bad press for which sucks. Wonder if they will make a statement. Green Day > Blink by a billion None of this is new information though, the issue with pop disaster is that while blink had the higher bill, as they were the bigger band at that point, green day were still smashing it, and blink struggled following them every night Difference is after pop disaster gd came back with AI so took over again. So perhaps that was a bit bitter for blink as they’ve never had that kind of resurgence with any of their comebacks. Plus Tom is a douche and using blink now they have the Kardashian connection and their treatment of Matt skiba was not cool 2 Quote
Hermione Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I saw a quote from the book on Reddit: Quote The tour came at a time when Blink-182 were ascendant and Green Day were at a low point right before *American Idiot.* “I got the sense that Green Day fucking hated that they’d been reduced to opening for us,” Hoppus writes. “It must have been a difficult pill to swallow. There was a lot of tension on that tour. Some nights we drank together like old war buddies. Other nights we got into screaming matches with their manager in the hallways.” They haven’t toured together again despite some overtures from Blink’s camp. “We keep asking for a rematch and they keep refusing,” Hoppus writes. “They’re the rival gangs across town who both despise and respect each other.” Yeah it's not new info and I think it's pretty funny since they took it in turns to open on the tour and it was universally acknowledged that Green Day blew them away every night, and Green Day were openly trash talking them during the tour and stating their aim was the show they're the better live act. Green Day were bitter but only that a band they believed to be inferior was more popular than them lol. After their comeback with American Idiot they had nothing more to prove. It's really not a rivalry it's just one band being way better live than the other. Part about a rivalry/rematch is just cope 3 Quote
solongfromthestars Posted April 7 Posted April 7 Why would Green Day tour with Blink again? Even if they'd loved it, they've been there, done that. And the fans do NOT want another package tour, thank you! What a weird thing to complain about. 2 Quote
Hermione Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I think since they did Hella Mega they might do it if the circumstances were right, like I doubt they'd have resentment towards them now. But there's no particular need for them to and definitely nothing to prove. Honestly surprised Blink are that into the idea when even though their live shows have improved Green Day would still blow them away lol 1 Quote
nowshesgone Posted April 7 Posted April 7 At this point the only way a pop disaster 2 happens is if Weezer OR fall out boys are on there as a "netural" party Quote

Why has nobody ever mentioned Blink-182 as the possible identities of The Network? Hmmm. 3 Quote

Popular Post Vintage Disciple Posted April 10 Popular Post Posted April 10 Howard Stern asks Adam Levine about Early Influences If you have Sirius XM then the interview is on the app and the Green Day bit starts around 1:28:00. I roughly transcribed for those that don't. HS: Tell me about Green Day AL: They’re one of my favorite bands ever ever ever. It was the way they looked, how they played, amazing frantic amazing energy one of the tightest bands ever, like ever, ever. The songs were these melodic, super melodic songs, Billie Joe writes these amazing kind of sneakily sophisticated melodies. They sneak up on you. Everyone uses the same chords but there’s only so many use you can use...the melodies are everything. First of all his voice is one in a billion, he’s just got that voice…in the pocket the way he sings. I think there's so much more to them too. I think with them they are underrated because their songs his songwriting are some of the best ever, Really. HS asks if he's met Billie...if he knows the guys, have they hungout? Nicest guys...I know them all. The nicest coolest dudes…we’ve hung out...actually we're all on a Wordle thread... with the Green Day guys. Every morning we send our Wordle scores... how rock and roll is that? Everyone in the Green Day family...extended family. It's like a thousand people and then me....I don't know how I got on that thread. They're the coolest nicest sweetest dudes. 6 4 Quote
