Also listening to these you hear exactly what he was referencing in Cuatro when he said he went into the studio with only half the lyrics. Just about every album track is the first verse repeated in the demo.

I wonder why they bothered releasing Espionage again when as an instrumental it’s not very different from the Shenanigans version already released (except maybe with its position right in the middle of the demos it serves the same interlude function as Last Ride In, but Tre’s Polka could have served that function)

Been listening on YouTube and can’t believe how much the lyrics changed, understand now why Billie made that comment about lyrical nightmare better now.  CD box set literally just been delivered so away to load them up.  Looks great by the way, complete with patch, booklet and pass.

Most of the changed lyrics is just repeating Verse 1 in Verse 2. I wonder if You Irritate Me would've had a unique Verse 2 if it actually made it onto the original album (or Shenanigans) because the demo just repeats verse 1 again in verse 2

Enjoying the live album now. Glad they included all the between bits and it sounds like a complete show. In some ways the Nimrod tour is my favorite because they already had a great catalog of songs and it was the last time they would play just as a trio. Billie was just developing a stage presence and I can’t believe the sound and energy just three guys produce. Every song sounds flawless. Such a great era 💚

Right? He has this beautiful tone to his voice that he doesn’t always use but every so often on demos or ballads you hear it and it melts your soul 🫠

Funny thing is, in the email, I read it as FOAM finger and was like, are they still trying to push that? 

It fascinates me that he held onto the music for Kill Your Friends for so long. Who knows what music/lyrics that we think are brand new are actually over 20 years old?

And can we talk about Place Inside My Head? What a great surprise. I swear Mike should have gotten one song an album just like George Harrison did. He doesn’t write a lot but the when he does they’re super poppy. This song is so bouncy and fun, has a Riverdales crossed with The Monkees vibe.  Mike deserves more vinyl space than he gets.

So Whatshername got killed by Leatherface and that's why Billie hasn't been able to get over her.  That's my key takeaway from Chainsaw.
