Green Day have been making 2 minute songs on basically every album they've ever made. Just cause this song might be 2 minutes, doesn't mean the rest of the songs will be. And even if they are, if they're banger songs it doesn't really matter imo

Looking through their albums, even the long songs are broken into sections that are 1 or 2 minutes.    So many 2 minute or less songs, wow.

Didn't expect this. So @Little Boy Named Booze's info potentially wasn't too far off after all 😄

This shit sounds miles ahead of FOAM. It's just so Green Day and I'm so looking forward to hearing the studio CLA mix 🤘🤘 Logically it's releasing soon, right? You don't premiere a new song live and then let people forget about it for a month.

I'm loving the theories about the record representing different eras in time and it that is the case that's such a cool and interesting direction for them to go in - not just rehashing the opera albums but instead trying something new and presents an opportunity for trilogy like creativity and variation in the songs whilst being normal album length. Hyped as fuck.

I am glad green day going back to their good old sound.

Although I hope they give us a different single.

THREAT LEVEL MIDNIGHT, WE HAVE A NEW SONG, YESSSS 🚨🚨🚨

But could it be that Billie hat problems with the tuning of his guitar? I saw two videos of the song and both soundef a bit out of tune and after a minute or so, Billie stops playing to check his guitar 🤔

To me, I think they were just testing out the song and he forgot some lyrics so maybe he looked down at a sheet

In researching this song, I saw that in 1993 the band was known as Blair Hess.  What?????

While he looked down he also touched the wireless system on his guitar strap on his back. He does that three or four times during the song. And one time he touches his in-ear-monitor quite long while singing. It definitely looks like he had some technical problems during the song.

The studio version will definitely sound better than that though

That was for one performance at Gilman after they had signed to Reprise and weren’t allowed to play there anymore

Maybe this is the new project that isn't Green Day.  The debut album of that band.  😄

1981

Just very curious to hear if the band will say anything about it, they basically just gave us the first proper show of the new album after almost a year of no teasers very casually.

I remember the same thing happening for 21cbd, trilogy and revrad for certain songs. During revrad the most difficult one initially was 'Still Breathing'. I think it has more to do with finding his live voice for a specific song. Quickly going through the previously shared video, aside from clear aging, I think his voice sounds pretty good for the other songs. I'm using 21 guns as a benchmark since that would be the more difficult one and while it doesn't sound as amazing as back in 2009/2010 (duh) it's definitely still good.

Edit:

I'm now listening to Jesus of Suburbia, which is always a highlight for me, and again sounding pretty good this far into the set. So I'm definitely on the side of him finding his live voice for 1981. It'll be alright before they start a full tour. There's absolutely going to be try-out shows before then so plenty of time to find it.

It makes perfect sense why they didn’t play any FOAM songs live on the tour. The falsetto parts were probably too much for his voice to do it live.

What do you mean? The one song on the album that has a lot of falsetto is the one they played. All the songs they didn't play at all don't have falsetto in them. Like, what is it about those songs that Billie would've had a hard time with performing?

If we go by the 2024 release date, it’s interesting they played a new song so early. Really curious about what the promotional timeline will look like.

Hans Blooey, Billie’s guitar tech, did respond to a fan on Instagram, saying that promotion is starting soon!!!

Yeah but define “soon” lol. This whole teasing period has been “soon.”

Also when is the new PHGP coming out then? Thought it was supposed to be before the new GD era.

Agreed, even the lyrics point in that direction IMHO.
