What other Green Day forum exists if I’m allowed to ask here (chaos reins in this thread). I am nostalgic for the greenday message boards til they got rid of it (I still love in the Rev Rad Era on its last legs I got some prize pack of a like poker chip, American Idiot tour shirt, and a paper book mark) 1

Clockwise Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Ya'll really need to stop taking these tidbits of information as gospel. It is likely that whoever is sharing these bits and pieces is only tangentially in the know and not in the inner circle, which is why most of the time the information is either wrong or vague. 4
Popular Post billy1986 Posted May 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2023 21st Century Breakdown doesn’t get half the love it deserves. It went number 1 around the world…won another Grammy for best rock album and got other nominations know your enemy and 21 guns were hits….but for some reason people (a good amount) diss the record…Insomniac also doesn’t get the recognition it deserves before AI it was their 2nd highest selling album…and was more successful commercially then fans realize…I’d LOVE THE NEW ALBUM TO HAVE TBE RAWNESS AND POWER OF INSOMNIAC AND THE DEPTH/EXPERIMENTAL ENERGY OF 21st BREAKDOWN…fans rightfully so love AI and Dookie…Warning and Nimrod are fan favorites but Insomniac and 21st I think are their best and would love a hybrid of both on the new album…Westbound Sign also should have been a single and should be played on the new tour 7 1

It would be great if the author could clarify the "next year" part and whether that is relative to 2022 or now. Sorry for the delay. This is one message I wish I didn't have to post. But I did promise to let you know. Had to ring back again, had no reply to my email. The company has confirmed what we already know from Jason. He is always reliable and accurate with his information anyway. The advertisement for their equipment, included a recent interview with Rob Cavallo this year. Therefore, the statement by him that the album will be released next year, refers to 2024, as Jason said. Really sorry to be the bearer confirming disappointing news. Anyways, at least we have something to hold on to. Maybe we will get a single from the new album as a Christmas present this year. 5 2 1

I don't think I've ever agreed with a sentence more. Literally one of their best songs. If they play it any time soon I may actually physically become deceased, but that's a risk I'm willing to take 2

Still doesn’t make any sense having an fully finished album in your shelf. 1

It can make sense for at least two reasons: - The band ended a world tour 6 months ago, it’s understandable they want to take their time to recover and get ready for another promotion carnival + tour - Marketing strategy, have the best release window Out of the two, if I had to bet I would put my money on the first one. They are 50+, they never seemed to really enjoy the promotion part of a release cycle, they always had a downtime period after touring. Covid fucked things up and is putting us in the perspective of “oh we had the last record such a long time ago”. But a whole lot of stuff happened since the FOAM release. Including a long tour that ended not one or two years ago, but 6 months ago. 6 1

DookieLukie Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 I wish I had the willpower to refuse to buy this new album to send a message, but I know I wouldn’t be able to resist. 1 1

That Dude Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 We don't know much. Like is the artwork done? Track list sequenced? Are they still tinkering with songs or even writing new ones? Have they taken precautions to keep the Network out of the studio? if they have kept The Network out of the studio and the album is delayed, that could lead to more speculation that they are the same people, 😄. Imagine locking yourself out!

I agree with this to an extent but there was a bare marketing strategy with FOAM (and the marketing done was…bad) and many bands of the same caliber have or are doing new albums. 1

That Dude Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Page 409 in your coffee maker. A very distasteful cup of coffee, I am glad Oakland Coffee don't have a 409 Coffee. Anyway. I am an insider because a random person on YouTube told me they were listening to the new Green Day album and that they liked it. Gittyup 409. 1 3
That Dude Posted May 11, 2023 Posted May 11, 2023 Vigarettes and Calentines is a cool title. Oh wait....Amongst The Ruins is actually cool. Amongst the Saviors? Remember at midnight tonight, something could happen.

Popular Post PluckyJokerhead Posted May 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted May 11, 2023 Remember Billie talking about how much work 21st Century Breakdown was in Welcome to My Panic? How they put absolutely everything into that album and how draining that was; They haven't quite gotten to that level since, and I have a feeling that they've come to terms with the fact that it does take a tremendous amount of effort in order to pull off a properly masterful Green Day album. This is all me spitballing but my gut tells me that after FOAMF, and based off the return of Cavallo, CLA and the AI references in the teasers -- they're trying to reach those heights again. I'm not trying to predict one way or another whether that will be successful, but I get that idea. As such I'm thinking that we're seeing them work on this record for so long without any solid announcements, aside from a few hints to keep us fans busy, is because they're trying to achieve a balance where, yes, they put a ridiculous amount of effort into their next record: but also they get to keep having actual lives and families alongside that. Especially with the tour that just finished last year I think it's fairly unreasonable to expect that they've been working on the record 24/7 since we saw the initial teasers in 2021, and if they had been then we all know the toll that would take and how ultimately that's not a great path to go down for anybody. In summary - yes, we might have to wait until next year, but I do expect that there's a reason for that and I truly believe at the very least we're getting a project that has some real scope to it. One of my favourite things about Green Day for the most part is that when you listen to their music you can tell that they've considered every detail - every last chord, lead line, bass part, lyric or drum fill. And ultimately even if I have to wait another three years for that I think it'll be worth the wait. 16 1
