I mean I'm not even talking about musical quality but FF are a heavier sounding band than Green Day generally. I definitely wouldn't say they're on the light side of rock

And THEN.....while the entirety is FUMING over it not being a new album, ANOTHER green day album blasts into existence out of NOWHERE.    They release the 1972 sort of under the radar and promote the ever loving snot out of the new album.

If rock died in the 80s, then how is Green Day even a band, let alone one that was not so long ago considered the biggest band in the world?

Sure, Rock isn't as popular now as it has been before, but in my opinion rock will never die, not as long as guitars, drums and bass are still a thing.
