Why Green Day's new releases seems to be so low budget production?

the rev rad art bothered me since it was just a stock image. remember how some rap group also happened to license the same stock image and green day fans jumped down their throats about "stealing it"? you're green day and you have WMG money- just hire an artist to make somethin new and you wont have that problem, yknow?

It was used as a stock image after Green Day commissioned it for the album cover. There was a whole making of the album cover, burning the radio etc. on Instagram I think

Green Day have said and done a lot of outrageous stuff over the years, but it was hotdog with too much mustard that got them cancelled.

I agree with this and also with some things some others have said. It's definitely a conscious choice. I have a feeling FOAM was largely a middle finger to Warner in general and the art reflects that, and now I think it is reflecting pandemic malaise and perhaps also a sense of apathy in the world as people are so overwhelmed with everything.
