I guess I'm in the minority here but I don't think this is a bad song. Is it a dumb, fun song? Definitely. But I don't think it's bad at all. I think we could all use some fun after this past year.

That’s what The Network was, but higher quality and clever. I still can’t believe how lucky we are to have gotten that. I still love these guys

I agree! 100% with this post.

Song gives me 21st Century Breakdown mixed with Revolution Radio and FOAM vibe.

It’s better than Read, Fire, Aim or whatever the hell the song was called but that’s not saying much.

after Billie’s solo stuff and the new Network stuff I had higher hopes for this but did keep telling myself it’s tied to the NHL deal so maybe it’s just bad. This... isn’t great. I don’t outright hate it but it’s not what I love about the band. I’m almost afraid to look at this music video.

I hear it. I get like a Christian's Inferno/ FOAM left over which is not a bad thing what so ever

lmao your a green day fan stop trying to show off and say you dont know the name of the song. This  better than the network stuff. Stop being overly dramatic and just watch the video! It's not that serious.

It really does sound better without the god awful video!

My initial impression of “Here Comes the Shock” is that it doesn’t do much for me. It may grow on me, or it might not, but indifference is where I’m currently at.

I wish I felt differently, but it’s always a delight to hear something new from Green Day.

Lol even when that terrible song came out I messed up the title. My brain goes to Ready Aim Fire but it’s the other way around. Happy to say I just finished the video and I’m gonna be generous and say it’s shit because of Covid but if they pulled that in a pre pandemic world then I’d agree it’s the worse music video I’ve ever seen.

also yeah, I’m a Green Day fan and as one I still have the right to say I don’t like this song and I think Foam is the worst album they’ve put out. I still love them and it has like two or three good songs but to me it’s by no means a good album.

I gave it a few listens. It's just so "meh." It's such generic boomer rock. Sick of the "let's dance and party" lyrical themes. Probably won't go back to it much. Thankfully I have the Network album still on repeat and can't get enough.

Good or bad I'm definitely glad there's some new Green Day. Not crazy about it but I think it's fun. Idk lol

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but all previous iTunes releases say Reprise Records and this just says Green Day which means it’s self released.

This.

Unpopular opinion 2: I think the video is fun.

Pathetic.  That video makes the song infinitively worse. Lmao guess Green Day is over.

I don't really understand having a strong reaction to this song one way or another, it just sounds like a middle of the road b-side. Not especially good or terrible, solid C-

if we remove the annoying and repetitive chorus and change the lyrics and we add some arragment and remove others the song could be good, the melody is good

3/10

good night

Personally, I think everyone is overanalyzing the band's intentions. I think they're just making the kind of music they like in the moment like they always have.

Yes, but now what they want to make is musically a lot more simplistic and worse than what they used to do, which is an unexpected development

its sad but i think they are doing this because they dont think thay can make a great honest record again. so "dont stress and play it easy and enjoy, we have nothing to prove and we are rich anyway"

Yeah I’m just saying it’s unusual to devolve like this, but I don’t mind that much.

Does the last chorus have crowd cheering in the background?

I thought I heard that too

I hardly listened to FOAM after it came out. This is much better to my ears and heart. Now waiting for more material, joining melody and drive together, and hopefully something innovative in any sense.

Here’s the video, if anyone wants it.
