Mato Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 It's not necessarily a producer thing. They need to bring Chris Lord Alge finally back. Nothing in their catalogue that was mixed by other guys can be really compared with stuff he did. But I guess he almost always came in package with Rob Cavallo (except for 21CB) and it seems like the band don't really tend to work with him in the future. And don't let me get started on how much I want them to bring Rob back. When they announced they were working with him (and CLA) again on Trilogy I was so happy. And those records were actually really nicely mixed and sound fucking great. Most people don't really have enough engineering / production knowledge to recognize how those records (which actually have pretty clean crunch guitar sounds) sound huge. Buy a pair of good quality monitors. 3 Quote

Heck! I do some of those moves daily in my online workouts. 4 Quote

Would be very sad but still possible I think.. Quote

If anybody was expecting a one-off NHL song to be any deeper lyrically then they were expecting too much from the get-go. It's not like this is a Back in the USA situation where the song was written straight after and as a result of a large political event, or the Network album where it was clearly more of a passion project and an excuse for the boys to have a bit of fun. The next time they release a song without any clear contractual obligation/sports promotion/advert attached, I'll be expecting the more usual standard of songwriting from them. For now this is just a fun little song to tide us over . Also don't forget that recording music together can't be very easy at the moment, so they might not have been able to write a new song even if they wanted to. "it's just a b-side bro" "it's just for the nhl bro, they had to write it" all of foamf is dogshit just like this Quote
Popular Post Jrem Posted February 21, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 21, 2021 I honestly really hope they decide to include this song on the next album just to spite you all 😂😂 I could picture it coming right after a slow song and helping pick the pace back up. Song is a straight banger it’s undeniable for me. I want to mosh to this. Green Day has proven time and time again that they’ll make the music they want to make and don’t give a rats ass about anyone’s negative opinions of their releases and quality. Y’all may not like this one but think about the countless other Green Day songs side projects etc that have released over the years! And to think there’s even more coming. You don’t have to like every Green Day song but the reality is some people will like the ones you don’t like and vice versa. This band is great because there’s something for everyone and it spans so many years. This is a fine edition to their discography and I’m certain there will be other songs to come with more depth to them. Nothing wrong with this one being a fun light catchy song that you can jam to and mosh. Plus we just got all these amazing Network songs that just released let’s keep listening to those. 9 Quote

Bakabanas Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 I really like what Butch Walker is doing, I didn't like the song melody and lyrics at all, but the quality and sound of instruments, like in MMpart2, FOAM, is very ear-pleasing, like a collision of AI and Trilogy, but in a good way. Maybe it's just... you know... just my... opinion. 3 Quote

The song was also covered by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Queen and many other artist (I’ve never even heard of ) @That Dude Thanks for the info about Annie Get Your Gun! @BillieMyLove & @HAPPY FINKING UNICORN, I coudn’t agree more. But, I guess I’m just gonna enjoy the song anyway In the end there are more important things going on right now than arguing about bands. What was the video? It's been taken down now. You're welcome. I've been reading about Annie Get Your Gun and the punk rock aerobic lady. 1 Quote
greendepent Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Now with a more listenings on my side, I still find it below average. I like the flanger on the guitar. Oh, it has claps buried on the mix, for clap lovers 1 Quote

That Dude Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 In a strange way, this sort of feels like a return to the Dookie days. I know a lot of you disagree, but listen to the song. There's not weird instruments in there. No vocals effects. It's guitar/drums/vocals. Yes, 'guitar' includes bass. It's a simplistic rock song. It's a return to form. bye. 2 Quote

Popular Post Gonzalo17 Posted February 21, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 21, 2021 If this song had been on MM2020pt.2 everyone here would be saying that is one of te best song on the album... But as it is under the Green Day name, the general opinion is about "a bad song" 6 Quote

Even on the trilogy, songs like X-Kid and Lazy Bones are quintessential Green Day and better than anything they’ve released since. I have to believe this is somewhat due to Rob. 5 minutes ago, pacejunkie punk said: I just blasted it in the car. Good point, never thought of it that way. He did seem like sort of a Yes-man in Cuatro, but he does help them nail that GD sound. I just want GD to work with someone who is respected and will challenge them. My issue with Butch is that his albums are always "noisy" and too poppy, and he's a huge GD fan which makes him biased. If I produced a GD record, I'd probably love everything and be too biased. 2 Quote
JardyOfSuburbia Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 The song is perfectly fine for what it is. It’ll be used in NHL highlights and that’ll be that. I think a lot of people unfairly criticize Butch Walker because of his association with Fallout Boy. Two of my favorite albums: Frank Turner’s “Positive Songs For Negative People” and Brian Fallon’s “Painkillers” are great sounding records that he produced. I liked his work on FOAM as well. 3 Quote
