Its like some moron thought it was a good idea to remake the unused whatsername music video from 2004. This shit makes me wanna puke It's nothing like that lmao. Only similarity is that both feature a woman. One is an emo teen character posing around, one is an aerobics instructor doing a routine. I think it's cool to see a music video starring a middle aged woman rather than the usual young models. Also I see it's only a small youtube channel she has, interesting that they picked it. Hopefully it'll give it a big boost! 5 3 Quote
Christian's Inferno! Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Idk why people keep bringing up AI/Dookie as if ANYONE expected it to be anywhere close to those albums. My expectations were low after FOAM. But I'm still disappointed. It seems my expectations weren't low enough. It's the blandest of the bland. Laziest chorus they've made. The lyrics are just more meaningless shit. It's not even catchy to me. It just... exists Between 1994-2009, it seemed like the band didn't want to release anything subpar under the Green Day label. In 2012, there were a couple subpar tracks released in the trilogy but I was fine with that cause it's a trilogy & the trilogy has a lot of genuinely outstanding moments. But with FOAM and now this track, it's disappointing to see them release stuff like this. I honestly couldn't defend this track even if I wanted to. Also, yeah that has to be the worst official GD video I've seen. It's as bad as the unreleased Whatsername video 3 Quote

Real punks take themselves far too seriously for that I guess. If I speak I will be banned. Something something cringe as fuck something something middle classes something something Quote
legendary Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Butch Walker and Crush are the more weirdness choice of their lives. Both think Green Day It's like Fall Out Boy or something. Walker don't have balls to produce a big band like Green Day, and same with Crush to manage the band career. Quote
Train27 Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 LETS NOT ALL FORGET NIGHTLIFE! Since you all want to bash them for doing a garage sound and trying to touch their roots. Quality or not, I appreciate this song because it gives me something to vibe until we get more. Also during that last chorus instead of hearing the “repetition”, listen to the music and the background sounds. 1 Quote

The Muffs approve I'm glad that Green Day have a sense of humour, don't take themselves too seriously and don't care if punks would think something is cringe 7 2 Quote

It's as bad as the unreleased Whatsername video I think that since those 2 records are now considered like a standard in terms of quality. I would also add 21CB which for me which is their best album overall. My opinion is that you obviously don't have to copy those but since you accomplished something this great in your life, it's legitimate that your audience will demand you something of the same quality. And I think also as musicians their hunger should always push them to try to equalize them or even top them You don't have to release only masterworks but at least keep an eye on the quality of your product. 4 Quote

I actually went and started reading about her after watching the video and went down a rabbit hole of information. Discovered some new music and all kinds of stuff. Thanks, Green Day! 2 Quote
LeavingPasalacqua Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 I don’t get what all the fuss is about. It’s hardly American Idiot but it’s fine; it’s probably better than most of the stuff on FOAM minus maybe the title track and Junkies on a High, it’s not significantly worse than anything off MM2020II and seriously who cares about what the music video’s like. It was always going to be some junky promo shit and honestly it could have been much worse. No point coming on here chucking abuse at some guys who have made some life changing music for me and who will never read it, especially for one ad song that isn’t even their worst stuff (I stand by that Oh Yeah is the worst song they’ve ever released but I don’t come on here saying they’ve betrayed their fans and their careers are over because of it) 4 Quote

I’d be opening up a can of worms if I started on this so I’ll leave it. 3 Quote
Train27 Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Is this song full of repetition and words that don’t make sense? Yes. is this song bad? No. is it rocking? Yes. Does all of what I said above clearly remind you of Green Day? Especially Repetition and words that don’t make since. Yes. Redundant and Know Your Enemy can be compared to this. 2 Quote

I think that Nightlife should deserve a little less critics because it's the first song where you can hear them really going out of their comfort zone. My opinion is that song is a hybrid which came out bad because their producer on that occasion didn't dare enough. But at least, I acknowledge it as an attempt of moving on to something different. 1 Quote

Didn't tell them what the song was called, only asked them what the lyrics of the chorus were. The result? They both answered "here comes the shark 🦈" without hesitation. This is the official lyric as far as I'm concerned. Can we all just agree on one thing? That we all fully embrace and accept the fact that it's only a matter of time now before the band releases a cover of Baby Shark. (Doo doo da doo do doo) 1 3 Quote

Christian's Inferno! Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 I remember during FOAM, a lot of people made the argument that they were trolling us and making bad music on purpose. Do you guys still think they're trolling? 😂 4 Quote

Foxboro is probably my favourite thing by the band. I enjoyed FOAM for what it was. This song just sucks. Sorry. Most of us here could write something better. I don't want something just to get something. Quality over quantity. 1 Quote
jetsrule128 Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Jason white Jason Freese and Kevin posting about it on Instagram billie still not on Instagram Mike and tre have posted nothing about it Quote
Guest Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 The song and the so-called music video are pure garbage and rock bottom from a band I still keep expecting something better from. Sigh. Quote
Thelongshot Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 I think we've got to see it for what it is. They were clearly asked for a suitable song for nhl and this suits it perfectly - just like ready aim fire. I'm really looking forward to seeing what comes next and glad GD still exists. 2 Quote
Wouter1994 Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Sounds like a The Network leftover for me Quote

Or they could just not release terrible music solely for a corporate entity like the NHL and maintain some integrity? Just a thought tho 1 Quote
DanPak Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Green Day...if you didn't think it was good enough to release on FOAM then what makes you think its worth releasing now? I can normally find something I like about even their worst songs but I cant defend this at all 😂 Like they actually had to include "This isn't rock n roll, this is just rock!" and pretend to snort a line just to make it vaguely interesting 😅 Quote
Little Boy Named Booze Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 The cuts between the verse, the chorus and even at the beginning of the song are so bad! They didn't even care about the word "transition" 3 Quote
1039SweetChildren Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 One listen was enough for me. Cool for an NHL track, I guess, but adds nothing to their catalog. Tired of choruses that are just the song title repeated over and over. Quote
