jengd Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 It’s catchy, it grows on you and it’s fun, what more can we need right now. I think it’s probably a one off for NHL and they had fun with it. I like the video, been doing punk rock aerobics since the 70s 😂😂. Be bop a loola baby.... hubby just walked in while it was playing and said ‘here comes the shark?”... 2 2 Quote

Joe. Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Fucking terrible again, wonder if this is just the permanent sound of the band now? 1 1 1 Quote

It's possible to make aerobic lesson without this amount of cringe Slaves have an edge to them. Green Day don’t. That’s the difference. I agree with a lot of other posters, it’s hard to get excited about new Green Day music because they’re actively choosing to release complete rubbish like this even though their side projects have shown a lot of promise. 1 Quote

Some ir us still expecting Green Day playing punk rock, not glam rock Quote
Popular Post Hermione Posted February 21, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 21, 2021 Did an experiment. I played the song to my mum and my sister played it to her son. Didn't tell them what the song was called, only asked them what the lyrics of the chorus were. The result? They both answered "here comes the shark 🦈" without hesitation. This is the official lyric as far as I'm concerned. 2 9 Quote

Slaves are great but you aren’t really comparing like for like. They are a much younger, newer duo and who knows if they will recover and come back, they have been silent since Laurie’s girlfriend died. Quote
Popular Post JOE THE X-KID Posted February 21, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 21, 2021 Green Day were my favourite band for so long and I always defended them against the 'they're just grown men acting like teens' argument. But honestly, i have to agree a bit now. Its embarrasing. They were maturing a lot with 21st Century Breakdown and it kind of went back a bit with the trilogy, but it still felt sincere and I enjoyed it a lot. Rev Rad was very good albeit a bit safe I even enjoyed FOAM but never really got the attitude they had, it felt off. Billie laughing at the rehab thing and drinking again was like a slap in the face. Its like he struggles with the fact he's getting older and can't handle it. Don't get me wrong, I'll always love them and get excited by new releases but man what happened? I've moved on a bit with bands like Biffy Clyro, Paramore, Foo Fighters, Kings Of Leon etc. They just put out much higher quality material. 9 1 1 Quote

The backdrop is her studio and she does zoom aerobics classes to punk rock music. i dig it. i get it. i’m FEELING it. also the more i listen to the song, i could see it as being the first track to an album that’s just power and energy and sharp tongue lyrics That's awesome! I sure hope everyone will take 2 minutes out of their day to follow along this workout, it's so fun! Green Day care about their fans' health, now that we're missing out on our usual highest intensity workouts: concerts. Edited February 21, 2021 by Tubbie Head 3 Quote

Miko Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 Terrible, just terrible. I don't even wanna know how many times Billie said ''Here comes the shock'' during the song. Lyrics are meaningless, instruments are bland and it's just simply bad song. Video is godawful and seems like Billie doesn't know how to make personal songs anymore. Hard to think any positives after listening some crap like this. 3 Quote

Laurie is busy with a solo project at the moment, don’t worry. Shit news about his girlfriend, saw she had been struggling but didn’t know she’d passed away. You’re right tho, it’s a tough comparison because you have one band that cares about their music and another that’s decided to be a heritage act. And of course, nothing encapsulates the punk ethos like some punk rock aerobics!!!! Quote

He always laughed about it (starting with the Jeff Matika interview a few months later) and he never said he was going to be teetotal (and never stopped being seen with the occasional drink). They've always been about not taking themselves too seriously and having some silly fun, and they've always made catchy songs. There's nothing wrong with it. There's still some pretty personal and interesting lyrics on FOAM, Billie doesn't hide his struggles with getting older he writes honestly about it. Being older doesn't have to mean losing their sense of humour, there's nothing terrible about putting out a catchy song with a fun video encouraging keeping active during quarantine. 9 1 Quote
Train27 Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 We get a new song and we complain. Man Green Day is lucky to have a fan base like us lol. I get it that some of you don’t like it as much but still like the band but why post negativity? It’s just like on YouTube, why come to this thread if you don’t like the song that much? 4 Quote

Its like some moron thought it was a good idea to remake the unused whatsername music video from 2004. This shit makes me wanna puke. Except for the fact that there is a gulf between the two songs in terms of quality and it makes me sad. Quote

Obviously it's hard to stay positive about it. 2 Quote
legendary Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 I don't know what to say... I always looking foward to the new songs since I'm fan, but now It gives me shame share songs like that. I tried to think: "Ok, It just a song for NHL promo, don't worry", but the lack of quality is evident, it’s almost embarrassing. 1 Quote

Obviously it's hard to stay positive about it. What if this was a one off song that was a B-Side? They are just having fun and probably released some garbage filler song for the NHL. They just released 2 albums in a year and this song. Honestly I like the other 2 albums better but this song is still Green Day and has Green Day energy and it’s great to see them still making music and staying healthy. Quote
dannygreen Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 After a few listening I don't like it that much. It's just a new song. I appreciate the attempt of being more modern, using effects and some little new parts. But come on, lyrics are re used again, the style is old again, the best part is "be pop a lula" etc. and it's exactly what they did on sugar youth. Lazy writing again. It's like they got stuck into this loop of revival of the old rock'n'roll from the '50ies or 60'ies. I'm feeling like they are losing a bit of their identity with these songs. Foam was the worse I've ever heard from them in terms of quality. I hope for a future release they will challenge themselves more. 1 Quote
