No it’s not.  The last time Green Day were in forced downtime he went off and did a movie or two so I bet he’s serious. Why not, he was good at it. A few TV guest roles would be perfect.

I would love to see him in another movie or on TV, but I’d rather if he appeared in something better than a soap so I don’t have to watch an out-of-context episode of it

It would likely be one scene I can imagine it already. He’d play a musician playing in a coffeehouse or something and then have a few lines at the bar after his set and that would be it. No context required. 
 

Now if they had him play a recurring role of a lead character’s long lost evil dead adopted son come back for revenge after a medical experiment gone wrong and a stolen inheritance that would be something to watch.
