I mean, how is this bland pop? :D I wonder what you guys then think of any of the ballads they released across the AI/21CB/Trilogy era, if this is bland pop :P

In the end I think I'm okay with this album. These songs will probably be forgotten as soon as the tour is over, so why not make the best of it and enjoy them for what they're worth.

I really like it, sounds a lot like their own take on a Beck sound, I'm especially loving Billie's vocal delivery and the synths, I always wanted them to play more into that alternative feel, so I'm pretty excited about that.

But this is absolutely not pop (I actually wished they would use the synths more for a new wave sound, not just glam rock), I think it's actually very indie-leaning. I agree with the person that said this has a LOT of potential for being in alternative stations, they should really push this song for radio if they want a chance for a crossover hit.

I’m excited too, but somehow I think it’s still a troll album and we’ll get the real independent album later this year (and no it’s not Magnum Opus 😆)

I don't know, first of all, I guess it's a grower, because it got even more oh okay after a second listen. :P The synths have a kind of retro vibe, maybe like something from the 70's? I like that a lot. But at the same time this song just makes me think of shopping center or elevator music, it's just so inoffensive.

To be fair, some of their ballads are kind of bland too (The Forgotten comes to mind as an example), but at least they don't make me think of a mall

But all in all this is enjoyable, could be better but at least it's a bit different

I have really no idea what to think about this. This is not punk, this is not rock, this is not Green Day. It's kind of a Joan Jett cover with a catchy chorus. It must be a troll album.  It cannot be serious.

Together with FOAM this makes two okay songs against one jingle so it doesn't look that terrible so far

Time to make myself like gd again

Somehow i dig it. But it's worth noting that all the 3 songs have great choruses but rest of the content is bit meh.

I just listened to Joan Jett and they copy yeah yeah. That part make my ear bleed

My two cents is that... I don't hate it, I guess. I had negative expectations after being disappointed by the other songs I shall not name, so I was kind of pleasantly surprised by it, but that's not really saying anything in regards to its actual quality. The song doesn't make me feel anything, no strong or weak emotions whatsoever. I guess it's a nice song to listen to without paying attention to it, it's not actively grating my nerves as the other songs did. I could hear that song being played in the parking garage of a shopping center or an elevator where nobody wants to skip it because they think it's awful or something. I listened to it once, but I don't really feel like listening to it again, and it's kind of sad that this is the standard I have to measure their future music with now.

I genuinely would like to know though what exactly Billie meant when he said that this album had the "biggest balls in music ever", because I'm pretty sure they've never released an album that was less provocative or was stirring up less emotions than what they've put out so far. The only thing they're provoking with is how bad the album cover, their attitude, and the songs that they've already released are. I don't mean to be nasty or anything, I am genuinely curious what is going on inside his head that makes him say that.

Some of it kinda reminded me of The Network.

I like the song and it actually makes me more excited for the album. "Oh Yeah!" leads me to believe that there is going to be some variety on the album and not everything is going to sound like FOAM or FRA.

Oh Yeah is a shitty uninspired name and there are probably 3 other better names you could source from the lyrics, not even including Bulletproof Backpack

I would not be surprised if somebody (management?) said you cannot name a song bulletproof backpack in this day and age so GD, being GD, gave it the most generic name they could come up with it, which just so happens to fit the chorus.

Sorry if this has been said already, I am catching up.  Have only heard it twice and it could well be a grower, first listen I did not like the "everybody is a star" bit at all but on second listening, I'm wondering if that man Armstrong has created another earworm!

I think he could mean they have a courage to experiment and try new things while everyone doing similar stuff in music general

Yeah but what they're doing to "experiment" sounds like current mainstream :(

It's different. It's new. I actually kind of like it. But Billie...enough with the filters.

This...exactly this. I love all three songs we have gotten so far, largely because of the variety. FOA and FRA push Billie to places vocally that he hasn't gone before...and it is NOT easy. Really digging this era so far.

After playing the 3 songs as a unit back to back, i can feel the flow.

Cant wait for the feb 7th.

Ok, so I'm up to 4 listens now and I'm starting to think the chorus is ok and the 3rd verse is kinda cool but I still hate this. Doing something different just for the sake of doing something different is kinda lame, I don't mind experimentation if the result sounds like a natural progression but this just seems kinda forced and lazy. I feel like the first chorus came really quick, there was no real buildup to it, a song like this could have used a pre-chorus, and the Joan Jett sample, as much as I love her, just seemed lazy and unnecessary. Also, the verses sound like Billie is trying to do a "call and response" type thing, but it sounds weird when he's the one both calling and responding, so I think that will make this song extra awkward when played live, the verses would have sounded a lot cooler if Mike sang every other line

Exactly, this gave me solid expectations for the record, I wanted diversity after those interviews, and it really looks like we are gonna have it.
And I think it's a really good song as well.
I am listening to it on a proper sound system, and it kicks asses, the lyrics are very much on point as well. Great song for me, looking forward to see the video :D
