Green Day has never been a band that adapts to anything. Everytime they become really huge they brought something different and new to the table. Green Day making punk mainstream or creating spectacular rock opera (twice) is not following trends. Hell, Green Day is basically it’s own genre.

JoS is the only song on that list I'd put above "Oh Yeah!" in terms of how much I like it. I have been a die hard since 95 and I'm in love with all three songs we've gotten from this album so far.

On my first listen I was waiting for that moment, like where the song starts out slow and then builds up to something incredible and when you think its about to kick in it just dies. By 2/3 of the way through I literally was facepalming and hoping that the moment would come and it just doesn't. The real chorus fails so it feels like a pre-chorus and then you get the song fully relying on the super generic (oh yeah) part and it just doesn't land. I really want to see what others see in this music, I get it the lyrics are a step up but as I said before the lyrics alone don't make a song. That's what rap is for.

Agreed. The verse is the best part of the song for me and even that borrows a bit too much from Too Dumb to Die.
