The length is okay. There's not that much happening in this song, so being longer, it could become boring.

I’ve seen people have less of an aneurysm over Nightlife compared to these two singles, and that has me baffled.

What on earth are you talking about??

Go back and read my original comment and ask yourself why you took it so seriously. The rest of my comments I was just stringing you along for shits and giggles.

It took a bit longer but there was definitely this much (or more) hate for the entire trilogy, let alone Nightlife  People are just noticing it now because they like the songs. Someone who contributed to my fan stories book wrote about how much hate there was after Warning and leading up to American Idiot. It's nothing new or unusual.

We're the bitchiest fandom ever that's the problem.

We're definitely giving blink and Weezer fandoms a run for their money this year.

Saying the band is trolling because they put out a song you (not actually you lol) don't like is dumb and annoying though and it's going on all over the place. If it's just opinions on the song then of course both positive and negative should be accepted but I think it's fair to criticise such a ridiculously dramatic response that is surely going to lead to a lot more disappointment and negativity.

I think it's alright to think "mmh if there are rumours about new songs, I hope there's more music to came out" but it's a bit stupid to think what you have already said, saying the band is trolling because they put out a song you don't like.
Plus, when the trilogy came out, or even 21st century, I don't remember anyone who has theories about "a troll album" just because they didn't like what went out

I think all fandoms are like this, and Weezer comes to mind when I think of the most troublesome.

Green Day are still the one band that have yet to disappoint me.

On topic, I really freaking like this song and can't wait until I have the words memorized, because it is really hard to understand Billie in this one!  I'm usually pretty good at deciphering Billie, but wow it's hard on this one.

All I know is I've been walking around singing "Baby I got hyperbole!!!"   :)

It must be people’s expectations. After RevRad which was pretty by the numbers and simple, some thought we were getting something epic and ambitious this time around, especially with a new manager and producer.  That’s what expectations will do to you.

The truth is we could have seen this aesthetic coming. The Longshot art was iPhone scribbles over photos, the Woodstock art was a scribbled, mud covered, duct tape covered Dookie, so the next logical step was a scribbled over and stickered American Idiot.  As for the music, he’s been writing a lot of short punchy power pop songs and this music and the lyrics do reflect the knee jerk internet culture he’s writing about. Plus he talked extensively on the Beyond and Back podcast about owing it to himself to always try new things and wanting to experiment.

Really in hindsight at least none of this should come as a shock.

I don't think even hear the hyperbole line... the lyrics as I can hear them are:

Gshdjffkgjdjdkf you're a liar

And then "ready aim fire, fire ready aim"

Maybe I'm better off this way :P With trilogy, I kind of regret the vocals stand out so much, because the lyrical imperfections can't be overheard. No such problem with FOAM songs haha

Is it really an "official" single though, or did they just release it for the NHL partnership. Official single meaning...is it being sent to radio stations to play? It may not be "single material" because GD and the NHL felt that it was the best of the 10 new songs for their opening sequence.

I agree this musical direction makes sense as a continuation of Longshot and going back all the way to the trilogy, but I'd say it's a bit different with the art, both Woodstock and Longshot had a distinct, but simple aesthetic with the scribbling, and you're right FOAM only takes it further, but there was something artistic about it, especially in the case of Longshot. It looked like the art was expressing something, the sloppiness had a raw element to it. FOAM doesn't have that. I suppose it's intended to be camp, but at the same time, it doesn't have a clear statement. It gave me a good laugh, but I wouldn't say it's a very good work of art beyond being humorous.

Btw, I wonder who created the FOAM cover. Billie did a good job with Woodstock and I assume he also did the Longshot art. This could be him again.

I’d put money on it being him again 😁Or at least him working closely with the art department for what he wanted. Someone had to design that unicorn 🦄

I consider this song an advertising jingle for a product I have no interest in - I didn't even download it from spotify & probably will never listen to again.

Okay guys...I listened to the new song two times in a row with good headphones and I don't hate it. I'm actually starting to like it! Not amazing by any means, but it's fun and super catchy. I guess I can get behind it now!

I think it's not "official" single by the band. Green Day never said FRA was the new single in these words, just brand new song.

By any means not even close. Green day's fan base is one of the most accepting and loving to the band. They have this bond with the fans that's mcr-like. So no this isn't true at the slightest.

It's just that the music sucks for most people (obviously some people like it)

Yeah I mean, I can only speak for myself, but at least when I "bitch" or "moan" about Green Day's work occasionally on GDC (that is to say when I'm not praising their other stuff to death), that doesn't mean I derail into saying seriously shit like: "Billie has lost the plot / is on drugs / is mentally ill / it's all a  deceptive hoax in every way etc." nor do I start bombarding the guys on social media with angry hate comments or boycott their live shows. I still love the band all the same. Criticism is not the same as intolerance or hate. I think the latter is what happened to some extent in Linkin Park's community throughout the years and yeah, we know what happened. Obviously it's always just a few bad apples (although their voices tend to be the loudest), but those few can add up in some cases. That hasn't really happened in Green Day's case or on GDC though, at least imo. So, while I don't think that Green Day's fandom is in any way exceptional necessarily, it's definitely not the worst or even among the worst.

Maybe I'm talking for myself but for the millionth time, I also think this is a troll to Warner album, and not because I dislike it.

I'm not saying it's going to be an album they dislike either, certainly they enjoy it.

No, Metallica fans are the worst.

Catchy AF. But it lacks a good rock'n roll solo. It feels incomplete without a solo

You never add anything to the conversation other than "GDC sucks". Why are you even here? You are literally the worst aspect of GDC
