I didn't care for FOA live, the falsettos just don't work for that song imo, even live

Hearing him and Jason sing together makes it sound a little weird/unlike other songs, but it's pretty cool imo
Rumpelstiltskin2000 Posted November 30, 2019 Posted November 30, 2019 I wasn't too mad about FOAMF in the very beginning but was lucky enough to hear it live in Seville a couple of times (soundcheck and the performance itself) and it sounded amazing

Zebahar Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 Although it’s moving down in the charts, I am still pleasantly surprised with how Father of All did on the charts. When I first heard it, I didn’t think too highly of it. Seeing it hit number one on a few charts is always a good sight though, and I’m glad radio stations are still giving Green Day a chance. Im excited to see how the next single will do.

Honestly, fuck this idea and just go straight to calling Butch Vig up and doing an album recorded in analog. Instant hit.

Foo Fighters did that with Wasting Light and it's their best record by far, in my opinion. It just has so much energy and sounds so live. I'm not a big fan of their other stuff, but damn, that thing is just amazing. I'd be all over it if Green Day went this route. By the way, since I complained about drowned out vocals, I heard FOAM of radio and it made me change my mind about it. It didn't seem that drowned out anymore and actually sounded really cool. Closer to capturing how they sound live than the Trilogy and RevRad, I'd say.

The video for JOS only has 6m youtube views which surprises me. As far has the other 2 Hella Mega artists Green Day is leading them in both youtube views AND Spotify streams now for what each one released at the announcement in September.

Just reminded me to compare the stats for the other two bands. Green Day- hot rock- 6 rock airplay- 1 alternative- 3 mainstream- 1 rock digital song sales- 18 Weezer- hot rock- 9 rock airplay- 3 alternative- 2 mainstream- 19 rock digital song sales- 20 FOB- hot rock- 13 rock airplay- 16 alternative- 10 mainstream- did not chart rock digital song sales- 7 I still don't know how Weezer pulled ahead of us for alternative.

Weezer's main chart has always been the alternative chart, and since their new song was a more "back to basics" Weezer song I guess it did better on the charts than the Green Day song that doesn't really sound like Green Day.

It only did better on the digital sales. GD was higher in all other categories listed here.
Redundantuserjinxboy Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 I constantly hear weezers new song on Q101 outside of Chicago. Like once every other day and I really only listen to the radio on the drive to work. I've heard FOA one time a few weeks back. I'm surprised that overall FOA is doing better on the charts, guess this just proves I live in a bubble.

It took a week or two to get itself into the rotation but now it's on the permanent list. There's always a song from Dookie in the rotation and they play Holiday often on the station.
Squashie Posted January 12, 2020 Author Posted January 12, 2020 I wish my rock station would play more recent GD. They always play songs for dookie and AI and that’s about it.

Same with mine. I’ve never seen FOAM on my local alternative station playlist and they’re promoting the Hella Mega tour. I’ve written to ask them why that is but get no reply.

GD gets airplay across several stations. When songs like 21 guns hit they were being played across as many as 5 stations at a time here. For the most part they're played across the 3 mentioned. Alternative station plays the most variety of GD typically playing new singles along with a dookie song, ai song and occasionally an Insomniac song or Nimrod song in the rotation. Our classic rock station has a variety of Dookie and AI tunes. The soft rock station will play the ballad type songs so AI stuff for the most part. They'll stray from that when GD has a top 40 hit or a more contemporary song out. I know they had Oh Love in rotation a few years ago. They may have been playing Still Breathing but I never heard it.

Interesting to see non singles played. There's a station up north that used to frequently play Give Me Novacaine heavily. It fit really well into the playlist as it was mostly classic rock tunes. They eventually eased up on classic rock and started adding in alternative as well. Most recently they were playing X-Kid and it's the only station I know about here that played it.
CherryBombs&Gasoline Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 The "Oh Yeah"-video is up to 1.4 million views now. I have no idea if that's good or not but I was wondering if YouTube-views are relevant for the chart performance of a song. Like, are they taken into consideration? 🤔
