Was looking at the Billboard charts and saw they were updated, and Oh Yeah made it on a few

Hot Rock Songs - #9

Rock Airplay - #27

Alternative Songs - #28

Rock Digital Song Sales - #6

Mainstream Rock Songs - #29

Something interesting to mention:

Oh Yeah has the second highest peak on the Rock Digital Song Sales for any Green Day song, trailing only 21 Guns

I just checked my local alternative station’s playlist and much to my surprise Oh Yeah is in regular rotation. FOA never was.

I sent my first ever tweet yesterday to Kerrang radio asking them to play the new stuff, looks like they play oh yeah once, at 4.00 am! Still playing old stuff which I guess is better then nothing.

Thanks. I think FOA debuted a bit higher in some of those charts and reached the Top 10 of the Alternative Songs in it's second week. So let's see 🤔

Edit:

FOA's performance in the first week:

Top Rock Songs: #9

Rock Airplay: #3

Rock Digital Song Sales: #18

Alternative Songs: #13

Mainstream Rock Songs: #14

It's crazy because Kerrang are the worst for trying to sell the magazine by putting a GD feature inside as often as possible and yet they'll only play their new single at 4 am!

I know it makes no sense, but the magazine and the station aren't closely linked at all. Plus, they are one of those station that only have about three/four DJs who are also running the station so their personal preferences have a big impact on what they play and their main guy, Loz Guest, isn't a big GD fan at all, the other daytime can't see or hear anything past 21 Pilots, it's pretty wearing!

What makes no sense is that FOA was charting higher than Oh Yeah at the same point but wasn’t being played on the radio nearly as much.

Plus its generally the case with rock radio stations that they don't play new stuff. I think on Billboard's decade in review for rock airplay most, if not all, of the top ten songs played on rock radio stations were from the 90s.

It does when you consider that radio play doesn’t matter as much anymore

In the hot rock songs, which combines all the other charts, they both debuted at #9. In the airplay only FOA did better, and yes that looks weird, but probably it’s because that chart considers also when a song is played, and on which radio, and not only how much. In other words, it considers how many people can potentially hear the song based on the radio audience statistics.
This probably means that FOA was broadcasted during its first week on major radios on peak hours, which make sense since it was the record announcement single and the guys had a lot of radio interviews with big radio channels for all the album/tour announcement interviews.
Anyway, as @pacejunkie punk said radio doesn’t count that much, and overall the songs are charting the same, at the moment, since OY is doing better in other individual charts.

Btw, they're no. 172 on the list of most streamed artists worldwide with 15,910.802 listeners per month (vs. no. 195 a week ago). Definitely gaining in performance there.

Again some observations about and this is only my alternative station, although it is an iHeart station so I’m guessing they take their orders from them. I never saw FOA on their playlist, but Oh Yeah is being played every 3-5 hours, which is heavy rotation on this station. On top of that, older GD songs are being played also in heavy rotation. It’s like a Green Day bonanza. Good sign for the single or is iHeart just pushing it right now?

I can see that September 23 foam had 2,9M on Spotify. This is 13 days since release, so more or less as Oh Yeah! now.

Wonder why it’s being played so much more. I don’t get it.

It’s definitely more radio friendly, probably that explains it :)

Spotify update: They have 16,013.741 monthly listeners now, making them #168 worldwide. They were no.172 on Tuesday, so it's looking good.

Their YouTube channel is showing 17.1m subscribers and I think that’s up but I’m not positive, anyone else notice or know what their no’s were?
