JReevz Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Edited because I’m eating my words and I respect panicland for what they have done

If they really drop this track and the rest of the album is half decent it would be a real turning point for them. Panicland's stuff honestly reminds me of modern panic at the disco fused with like, maroon 5 or something. Not green day-esque in the slightest... if they do drop whatever the MOTIK leak was, I shall be pleasantly surprised. On second thought, why on earth would the MOTIK vinyl/CD say "GREEN DAY" on it if it was Panicland? That could create a whole legal catastrophe for Panicland if they were the ones trying to troll us, and if someone random is using Panicland's music with GD's name plastered on it, they could face legal trouble from both bands... Because that clearly says GREEN DAY on all the copies. In the God's Fave Band font as well.....

Not once has Green Day ever re-used a font for two albums in a row. (Exceptions being the Trilogy, and live albums for obvious reasons.) Not only that, why would Magnum Opus be typed out in a different font?

Technically I was pointing out that whoever's using GD's name could potentially face a lawsuit, but on that topic...I mean, FOAM literally reused the entire American Idiot cover, and besides, the official green day website's tab icon is also in this same GFB/MOTIK font... they could've changed it, couldn't they have? But whoever does that for them did not... If someone had leaked a picture of the FOAM album cover before it was released, I would have laughed myself halfway to Mars. We all would have.

While I agree that the cover makes me want to bang my head against a wall, at least they used a different font. Why would they create an entirely new font for an entirely new album, just to go back to a pre-existing one used for a compilation? That’s like if International Superhits released, Cigarettes & Valentines followed afterwards, and American Idiot rumors floated around with the International Superhits style. (I chose C&V because it fits the example better than AI and 21CB.)

Who knows, maybe they found something that they liked 🤣 or maybe MOTIK was really the original cover and title for God's Fave Band... I don't think that whatever they're using right now qualifies as a "new font" because it literally looks like Microsoft Paint (remember MS Paint, guys?! ) 1 minute ago, AnonymWarnerGermany said: Its Green Day I never mentioned how much i lol at your profile picture, pretty sure that's how Bill Schneider reacted when he read this thread...

21st_century_gloria Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Ok let me reiterate what I was actually trying to say in the post with the picture of all the lil' motiks, since I think it was misinterpreted: On the idea that it is Panicland who's faking this, "why on earth would the MOTIK vinyl/CD say "GREEN DAY" on it if it was Panicland? That could create a whole legal catastrophe for Panicland if they were the ones trying to troll us, and if someone random is using Panicland's music with GD's name plastered on it, they could face legal trouble from both bands..." any lawyers here or people with knowledge of how legal this level of trolling is? 😅

Littleshi Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 just to let everyone knows people who manage this forum make this place unstrusted for info, they mislead, intencionally because they receive flags downs. just saying. and this is my last post.
vaucum Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 I do not believe there is more than 500 people -and I am exaggerating- actively talking and/or speculating about MOOTIK/Panicland. For this reason, I do not personally think there is any legal argument or need from anyone to come forth and reveal what's behind those leaks, either for legal reasons or to gain popularity. That said, those leaks sound surprisingly good to me. I would really like to know from Bill how he knows it is Panicland. Eventually it might really be Panicland, since they once posted a video (in September?) with a song that sounded a lot like 90s Green Day. They actually removed that post! Bill, could you please give us a more thorough response? Thank you.

If he's so sure, then he obviously knows something we don't know about Panicland's involvement. That leads to a question why would he know that. You wanna come up and do it? That would be really fun.

Not a lawyer but you are right. If panicland really is doing this they are using Green Day and each band member’s likeness to boost hype (in hope of generating sales or streams) of their pending record. It’s likely this was done with out GD consent, and would be classified as appropriation. GD could probably sue if they wanted to.

I'm not trying to mislead anybody, I was just asking a simple question about plaigirism because I didn't want to make any unfounded claims against Panicland or whoever the hell spawned these MOTIK covers with "Green Day" plastered all over them. I'm not saying GD should sue Panicland, I was just trying to figure out if they are allowed to do what people are speculating that did. I don't think that goes against GDC guidelines because it is not redundant, it was relevant to the topic, and was not attacking anyone, etc, etc. 17 minutes ago, Herroon said: Somebody in here was claiming the MOOTIK covers were alt GFB covers, which means the leak was from inside. Bill's panicland theory doesn't explain this? couldn't have hit the nail much harder on the head if this thread closes I'm rioting I wouldn't be surprised of Magnum Opus of the Inglorious Kind was an alt title for GFB. Especially because it seems to be in the same font (the title and the band name were in different fonts on motik, but both fonts were used on the GD website while promoting GFB) Like you said, the panicland theory definitely does not explain why the alt cover for GFB would be in a video of a completely different band recording something... which brings us back to who on earth is dr doback/tad? Are they the same person? I saw a theory on reddit that maybe BJA is working for/producing for Panicland, but that doesn't make sense because i'm sure they would be over the moon about it and have announced it by now?
DookieLukie Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Don't forget that a member on here stated that he talked to someone close to the band who said that the "MOOTIK" cover was an early cover and title of what became "God's Favorite Band." Which fits because the font is the same. Religious imagery fits too.

Yeah, that's what I thought. 👍 I don't think they would be that selfish/dumb to try and just use Green Day's name like that. Even if Panicland did create the audio, that someone is using it with Green Day's name and I feel like there could be legal trouble with both bands vs the troll... This leads me to think the random troll idea is honestly making more sense to me (my faith in MOTIK used to be around 90 percent, but now it's hovering at a 50/50 chance) trolls: 1,800 panicland: 0

Which fits because the font is the same. Religious imagery fits too. My theory for quite a while was driven by the definition of Magnum Opus: "a large and important work of art, music, or literature, especially one regarded as the most important work of an artist or writer." I was thinking that while it sounded like a grandiose, epical title, Green Day realized it would be way better for their "best album" (an original one) as opposed to a compilation of hits, even if they were big hits. Theoretically they saved this and wanted to reuse it with something almost as big as American Idiot. (which scared me because I thought it had the potential to be the swan song of my favorite band. Yikes. As y'all know, this is major speculation, but I was on reddit trying to find the first mentioned instance of MOTIK and someone said they saw the MOTIK album in a video green day posted? The picture they added could've been fake, (as expected) but idk. I'm trying to find that again right now and if someone thinks it's another straw to grasp at I will try to link it here...
Redundantuserjinxboy Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Honestly, until we find damning evidence that says otherwise, I think it's time to just assume this is all a ploy by panicland

If there is something coming along after FOAM, (I'm pretty much convinced there's some sort of surprise involved) well, these guys must also be going insane trying to figure out who leaked the stuff if it wasn't on purpose. By the way. I just thought of something. Let's say that this was faked by trolls, These guys (whoever made the doback/tad leaks) went through the whole effort to rent a studio and have fake MOTIK albums on hand to strategically place on the table while those ladies are singing opera, risking possible legal trouble, and edited audio from green day/panicland in the background, etc, etc, it just seems way too elaborate? Like, even if these are rich trolls with huge budgets, why waste that time/money to mislead a handful green day fans? The only thing that doesn't add up is the interspersed stuff that BJA said when he met panicland. Why on earth is that spliced in? If it's a troll effort, it ruins it completely by giving it some debunkability. Why on Earth is that there? If the true answer that question is made known, it might make or break the entire theory. Wayyyy too much effort made on this one. Part of it has to be real if not all of it. One day I'll say something credible but for now, eat this bratwurst brain stew of my speculation that you probably already speculated yourself. Sorry if this is too redundant for gdc guidelines 😅
