I think this is just imitation with some production work, voice cloning means teaching a robot how to reproduce someone else voice based on a voice timber sample. These are songs samples sung by robots base on someone else voice: https://mtg.github.io/singing-synthesis-demos/voice-cloning/ 

Again, not to say that this is definitely  what happened, I think the sampling of another song voice track is a much more plausible option for example, but just to show that in 2019 saying “it really sounds like Billie” is not enough to say “it’s Billie for sure”.

The tracks just sound so layered and well composed, and when I listen with headphones I can pick up little details I didn't notice before (e.g. in the leak with someone holding a physical copy of MOOTIK, towards the end if you listen closely you can hear a few voices simultaneously shouting "hey!" alongside every beat of the snare). 

I am struggling to believe Panicland are behind this at the moment, the leaks just sound so different to the musical direction Panicland seem to be heading in terms of genre. Also, I don't understand why they would create such a complex sounding leak just to f*** with people, and then not follow it up in any way. You'd surely expect at least some word or hint from them by now? 

The singing voice in the leaks also sound too much like Billie for me to believe it's anyone else. Billie has a notoriously difficult voice to replicate, perhaps because his vocal tone is so unique, almost as if he has a permanent cold, and that is damn hard to imitate. I don't think I've ever seen anyone come close to it to be honest. If this was a Panicland song that they were promoting through these methods, I'm not sure why the lead singer would want his voice to sound exactly like Billie's.  

Lastly, why on earth would someone go to the effort of hiring a freakin' choir just to mess with Green Day fans? The choir parts sound intricate and like they've been meticulously composed, almost like something from 21CB. If this part in particular is a troll, then God damn, get a life. 

Yeah I just listened to that more closely and the HEY’s sound exactly like Mike 100% IMO!!! And about the female choir, I agree! That and the string section!!! Nobody would go through this much effort just to mess with us!!! A typical troll would’ve just done a bad impression of Billie and label it as a new Green Day leak

Exactly! If this is Panicland and they are simply promoting their own new material by generating this false hype about new Green Day, I don't understand why they would want their singer's voice to sound identical to Billie. He doesn't sound like Billie in any of their other songs, and judging by their latest single it seems like they are trying to forge quite a unique sound (albeit one I'm not personally keen on). Would be strange if they released such grandiose, epic, rock opera-sounding material after seeming to become more of a pop outfit. 

All I'm saying is, if this really is just Panicland, what's the end goal here? Why would they create such intricate tracks just to troll us when they seem to have far better things to be getting on with, and they're trying to carve out their own fan base? Something doesn't add up.

I don't think we'll hear from Billie yet, since I'm imagining they'd have to keep a reasonable amount of plausible deniability about all this until after FOAM out of contractual obligations. But I'll flip if doback posts something again. The account's posts were pretty recent at the time of it being discovered, right? I almost wonder if it wasn't originally supposed to be a hidden in plain sight @songsforassholes kind of thing that got accidentally discovered too soon and was abandoned or something

Maybe the 1800 Lies song is on FOAM waiting to be heard. Or on the rock-opera Butch Walker hinted at for next year which may be the Magnum Opus. That song sounds way too good to be locked away in a vault. Hopefully we'll be hearing the whole thing very soon. 🦄

Audio and video are just two different things maybe.

The talks could be edited to cover what they are saying and IF there were really Green Day on the studio I think they can record wherever they want and that include Canada. 

 

What's gonna bring this to Panicland? backlashes maybe, people won't come there for their music. Also they do a total different genre. The only thing that links to Panicland is a snippet audio and the studio.

So, how did a cover of MOOTIK come into their hands, how did they write such a green day-ish tune with perfect Billie's voice?

Why take disturb to write several snippets including one with big choirs and orchestrations? 

Arrange them, mix them, do a perfect plausible cover art

Honestly, as fun as this thread is at times, there’s not really any more need for discussion, because you just perfectly summarised the crux of the problem. It COULD all be a troll, but it would be an elaborate troll and there’s a lot of questions that would pop up. It COULD all be true, but then it would be quite an intricately planned project and once again, full of unanswered questions, big holes in the narrative etc.

maybe they can't record in USA because they had a contract with Warnet, they can reclaime that was recorded before FOAMF.

i dont know.

 

anyway i think the only thing real in the videos is the music.

Of all of the snippets of audio available and assuming that someone in the GD circle put these videos out for a purpose, why would they choose a snippet from that very random Panicland video? And even more of a reach, what would be the chances of that happening plus a studio in Canada that Panicland has used be the location for the GD recording? The odds are astronomical.
