Anyways that was part of it. The room also had an acoustical anomaly that he manipulated to his benefit. Most of the reverb you're hearing in it is actually natural reverb. It makes mixing and mastering a lot easier and natural sounds better than manipulated. 

Butch Vig knows the Oceanway rooms inside and out. The snare used as well was Tits Mcgee for anyone that follows GD's gear. The snare is a titanium snare that has a big sound to start with and of course this is also a big part of the sound here. Another testament to how much of a mastermind Butch Vig is, some of Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream tracks have up to 13 guitar tracks layered in the song. They recorded analogue as well. Very difficult thing to manage. 

Chris Lord Alge handled the EQ and compression for the snare on KYE and that's where you may be hearing similarities in the snare sound on other tracks by the band.

The more I listen to the leaks the more I am convinced.

The tracks just sound so layered and well composed, and when I listen with headphones I can pick up little details I didn't notice before (e.g. in the leak with someone holding a physical copy of MOOTIK, towards the end if you listen closely you can hear a few voices simultaneously shouting "hey!" alongside every beat of the snare). 

I am struggling to believe Panicland are behind this at the moment, the leaks just sound so different to the musical direction Panicland seem to be heading in terms of genre. Also, I don't understand why they would create such a complex sounding leak just to f*** with people, and then not follow it up in any way. You'd surely expect at least some word or hint from them by now? 

The singing voice in the leaks also sound too much like Billie for me to believe it's anyone else. Billie has a notoriously difficult voice to replicate, perhaps because his vocal tone is so unique, almost as if he has a permanent cold, and that is damn hard to imitate. I don't think I've ever seen anyone come close to it to be honest. If this was a Panicland song that they were promoting through these methods, I'm not sure why the lead singer would want his voice to sound exactly like Billie's.  

Lastly, why on earth would someone go to the effort of hiring a freakin' choir just to mess with Green Day fans? The choir parts sound intricate and like they've been meticulously composed, almost like something from 21CB. If this part in particular is a troll, then God damn, get a life.

He didn’t just mock the voice, he digitally layered his voice to make it sound like Billie’s. And it was a little more than just a bit similar. Not to say that he is/they are for sure the ones behind MOOTIK, but that’s one way Billie’s voice could have been “recreated” for the fake leaks, together with other options like voice cloning or more simply sampling of other GD songs vocal tracks.

I don't know what you mean with digitally layered, it seemed quite flat to my ears no extra work except for Dly and Verb. I don't know what you are referring to. Cloning voice does not exist as far as I know, imitate that's yes. Voice has to be similar from the source.

Stacking and layering in mixing field is usually put a lot of harmonies in a stack. Layering is about all the harmonies not to the lead
