Imagine when Billie said "We might even release another album next year" he was referring to a live album or something...

 no.

He also said: Were thinking about releasing more NEW SONGS.

He was obviously talking about a second studio album.

i dont hope so

foam cant be a "real" album, the music/instrumental of the single is awesome! but still after plenty of listens, the voice effects destroy the whole song for me (and other friends of me who listen to GD)

if the whole foam album turns out to have this vocal effects, it will sadly be a "skipper", not even a "grower" for me 😕

Maybe it's just a deluxe edition with a couple of new songs or even a second disc within FOAMF like Blink did with California

But probably then he realised that he hates long songs and scrapped the idea.

OK so at least this theory isn't dead with that obvious fake youtube announcement

It is always possible that Warner shot down Forever Now as a single/video due to its length and refused to pay for a video. Could be part of why they wanted off their contract so bad. Jesus Of Suburbia, while being a fan favorite, didn't do great as a single (even after being cut down by three or so minutes). Having said that... I WANT THAT FOREVER NOW VIDEO!

I don't remember in which recent interview they were asked which is their longest song and they said JOS. But it's not even JOS lol

Poor Billie he talks too much probably but I guess it's by enthusiasm. Who keeps note of every single thing they say also. He must be full of good will when speaking of upcoming projects. In the end one thing he faithfully does these days is mess with us and make mysteries :P

What ever happened to the rumour that they were writing a 24 minute long song? Haha.

It would be hilarious if FOAMF consisted of the song Father Of All and then the rest of it was just the 24 minute song, to bring the whole thing up to 26 minutes.

Especially after all the stuff Billie has been saying about hating long songs.

That's clearly someone from here who got the "you can't record that stuff at home" challenge too far :P

This is only half true in the sense that yes JOS didn't do great as a *radio single*. This is due to the fact that there is no radio edit. For example Rush's 2112 has a radio edit that's the first 5 minutes of the song and then it fades out. Despite not really getting airplay due to length there were select stations that did play it and the song did chart which is impressive. The song is obviously one of Green Day's most popular songs ever and I would say the longest popular song of the 21st century.

As a music video it was extremely successful and sat in #1 position of music video charts for months. The length of the song gave the band and directors a great opportunity to put a short visual story to the album.

Forever Now didn't have the power JOS had especially in regards to mass appeal. There's really no story it is intertwined with so there's nothing to work with on that front. I think Warner may have made the right call on that one.

But there was  I don't know if this was actually played on radio but I guess it was included on the single wasn't it?

Yes, there was also a shorter music video. I was always extremely pissed when MTV was playing that version.

Ps: For the young ones, yes, in 2005 MTV was actually playing music videos.

Repeating what I posted last night, because I don’t think anyone saw it, I think Magnum Opus could be Green Day after all. Because if their faces were definitely photoshopped on the album cover, someone would’ve already posted the original photos here!!!

Alright who wants to be a trooper and find the original artwork that MOOTIK was based on in the anticipation thread

Interesting I didn't realize there was a 6 and a half minute radio edit. For alternative radio this is quite long. For classic rock stations not so much!

The Rush radio edit I mentioned clocks in at 6:46 and gets regular airplay to this day on classic rock stations.

Someone found the original photo of Mike. Not sure about Billie and Tré though.
