Billie Joes Eyelids Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I don’t think Billie was joking about new music before the tour. I don’t know if it has anything to do with MOOTIK, but I think there will be new music. He was pretty specific.

On the Woody show today he was praising artists that can just put out singles whenever they want and not have to go according to a contract. I think he’s mostly talking about the freedom to release random singles and EPs that don’t adhere to a schedule. The more he talks about it the more you can tell what he’s referring to. There are no hints of another entire album.

pacejunkie punk Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Just now, marijuana said: I'm ready to drop Green Day for whoever made those leaks lmao So there was no "big announcement" as the radio had advertised? It was iHeart Festival and they hardly talked about it. They mostly talked about the single and Hella Mega
Guest Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Does anyone know about the name of this song?
Stefano Bras Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 If there is something meant to be released in 2020 related to this theory, I'm sure there won't be legal repercussions, they seem pretty confident in being "finally free". 3 minutes ago, marijuana said: I'm ready to drop Green Day for whoever made those leaks lmao So there was no "big announcement" as the radio had advertised? 2 minutes ago, pacejunkie punk said: It was iHeart Festival and they hardly talked about it. I'm just here for the fun speculation. I take it all with a big pinch of salt. I'm sure I'll enjoy whatever this era turns into.
kristóf Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 https://www.instagram.com/sloankettering420/ Whatever this is it's fake and not reliable. (Right?) Until I don't hear Billie's vocals I don't believe anything.
MillenniumFan Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Anyone else noticed how Billie seems to be repeating himself more in the interviews than on previous album cycles. I don't know, the "everyone in rock is writing feel good songs" that he keeps saying in every interview almost sounds like a message with some deeper relevance than just in relation to FOAMF. I think that's probably me seeing what I want to see, but it just keeps sticking out at me. Honestly, the longer this goes on, the better the troll would be if it really was him trying to make a point about corporate mainstream rock culture and that he's sick of it.

MrElPacho Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Don't like to feed into the craziest of tinfoil hat theories, but I found one segment from the Zane Lowe interview amusing in the context of this thread: BJ: "I realised that I hate long songs" ZL: "what's your longest song?" BJ: "I think it's like Jesus of Suburbia" ZL: "How long is that?" BJ: "I think it's 9 minutes long" ZL: "So it's literally an Opus" What's that? Opus, you say?? *X Files music intensifies *

I listened to this last night right after Todd put it up, but don't remember the word opus being used.

I mean, to a certain extent I think it’s normal that you’re repeating yourself in interviews because everyone asks the same questions etc, but it really seems like he’s sticking to a strict protocol or something this time. Like a machine repeating the same sentences over and over. It’s weird and I’m pretty damn sure that it is some kind of hint, whatever it may be.
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I love this conspiracy theorizing....he's saying he same nonsensical things over and over what does it MEAN???? Imagine he's just babbling like that

Thatsername Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 One thing that makes me scratch my head even more is the fact that @Matt. has become so suspiciously quiet since the album announcement. Of course I understand it if you just need a break after all that chaos... but is there anything going on behind closed doors that you're aware of? I just made a donation to GDA, so I think I deserve an answer 😛

MrElPacho Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Just listened to one of the radio interviews and Billie was having a proper go at people who strap their guitars "up to their Adams apple" and sing songs "about their f***ing feelings" or something along those lines. Gotta say, it didn't really sit right with me. For a start, his son Jakob wears his guitar pretty high, so he's kind of insulting his own son there. Secondly, since when were Green Day against writing about their true feelings? I have to say I am now a bit more suspicious as to what all of this is. Was he purely joking? Why are they repeating the same lines about wanting to bring songs back that "make you feel bad". He also said something about feeling "awful" and that reflects in the new music. And he said he "gets to have a beer after the show", so I guess that confirms he is drinking again to whoever was asking. 4 minutes ago, Stefano Bras said: You can't be serious... pls someone send me a link to that shit. Go to the Zane Lowe interview in this thread:
