Edit: another point to consider though- would they go on a radio show to announce and album anyway? Everything about this very new era has been unpredictable, but it goes against their MO

I don’t think Warner would own the rights to MOOTIK necessarily. You can record an album at any studio and then submit it to the label when you’re ready

I'm not to be taken seriously here at all. But someone mentioned something about the long overdue AI movie. 

What if that is actually it? What if the reason they have been away for so long is because they were involved in the movie, they spent a long time doing that, and were left with not much time left to write a record (hence 26 minutes).

The cover of the album uses AI art to drop a hint of what's coming. AND, this is why they keep posting things about movies (like Will Ferrell references, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood references, like Mike just posted on IG). 

Obviously this is all bullshit,  but I'll staple my nimrod to my balls if this isn't true.

Most of all I’d like to know how they’d pull this off with time. If it’s been recorded already when they would release it to estimate when they would tour to promote it. Although I guess if they’re not with Warner they wouldn’t have to tour to promote an album, they have a following that would be fine listening to the hits I’d say and they’ve said before they’d like to tour just because or that releasing an album is an excuse to tour, something like that, if I’m not mistaken. I just want to know how much money I need for touring, as I organise my life around Green Day touring so it’s important to me XD

Also it intrigues me why Warner wouldn’t “pass” the other record. If it’s done already, what difference would it make to them to have foam or the other one? I mean gd have gone political before, they’ve released 3 albums in 4 months... they’ve done whatever they wanted to do musically with Warner haven’t they???

Not sure if this has been discussed already, but if they haven’t finished the record they could be releasing foam just to pair with the hella mega announcement as all the bands have a new record coming out and they needed something too?

I must admit I'd be a bit disappointed if there ceased to be "eras" linked with albums for Green Day. I really wanna keep talking about eras. Having an experience and linking it to either era. The first one I was in was Rev Rad but I want it to go on. I would be more disappointed if it doesn't, than to not have any new music beside the rest of Foam album. I would love to have some more beside that more that's about to come, but I also feel like Billie saying that "we could as well put out new music before the tour" could just be another way of saying "fuck you", to Warner if not to everyone. New music could already be ready, but putting it out in a form or another or another story. I don't really care if there is only Foam before the tour, I'm sure I'll love it. The only thing I would really wish for is more touring dates, as GD on their own, in big venues all across the world like they have done previously, beside the hella mega, and that we could still talk of an "album 13" or "Foam" era.

I don't think a 26min album is as big of a "fuck you" to Warner as you guys are making it. Look what makes money these days: streaming music. And shorter songs are better for streaming. Look at Lil Nas X and his hits so far. Just around 2mins each. This is good for streaming because a) it doesn't require a long attention span, b) 30 seconds counts as 1 song stream, so having a song that gets to the hook fast is beneficial, and c) people can stream FOAM 2x in the time it takes to stream, say, BOBD 1x. Same rules apply to a short album. And in terms of physical sales, GD fans will buy anything just because it's Green Day. How many of you won't buy the album because it's only 10 songs? Doubt many. If anything, Warner gets the same money for less songs.

I mean even if Opus or whatever is true, doesn't mean they finished it already. They could be demoing shit and have album art or whatever and can start recording it at any point from now until the album comes out, or just record 1 song fully, release that as a single in early-mid 2020 and say "btw we'll work on the album and release it whenever in 2020"

Lol I heard this too and he had to be kidding. If he hates long songs then he definitely doesn't have a good time live during solos/vocal speaches during American Idiot, Minority, Hitching a Ride, King for a Day, Letterbomb... and he must just HATE playing Jesus of Suburbia every night 

Also the fact that the band played Father of All... twice last night and Billie literally said "That was too short let's do it again," I mean what more evidence do you need to see that Billie HATES long songs

I have to be honest, I had so much hype for that cover and those snippets for something extremely epic. Then to find the actual album cover (wow) and hear about this trilogy-esque new era I just felt disappointed from the built up in my head. I just don't want short simple songs that don't have anything under the surface. I am hoping the album does blow me away but I can't help feeling like it's just going to be mediocre. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that I want to believe this theory but I don't think I can allow myself the pain again 😂

There's no doubt they'll be putting out more music but will it be Magnum? I don't think so guys, I think the fantasy has sailed.

It's just so interesting that Green Day's (arguably) biggest fans are up in arms over the new album, hoping that it isn't legitimate. 

I know I stand strong in the theories, and I sure as all hell don't want to believe that album cover and unicorn mascot were chosen without the intention of them being a joke of sorts. I can also confidently say that I'm not the only one here that's seriously questioning the vocal style on FOAMF.

God this thread went into full Discovery Channel "Aliens" mode.  I love it. 

At the end of the day, I want there to be a follow up album that's something more substantial than the 26 minute one we're getting, just because waiting three years for the shortest album they've done is so disappointing.  Maybe it ends up being really good and I'll eat these words, but with the single, I'm doubtful.  I just want that big new announcement.
