I was actually planing to do a whole cover of the leaks (I was thinking it's 1 big song) and release it on 10/10/19, but that didnt work out. btw. This thread has more sides than the FOAM thread. Thats... weird.

Honestly though it was a great cover that you put together based on what was out there and I wish I had the talent to pull off stuff like that.

Not only did this underground band manage to perfectly emulate Green Day's signature songwriting techniques, guitar tones, lyrical themes, and Billie's VOICE, but they ended up evolving the sound in a direction that follow's the band's lineage as if they were Green Day all along. All this paired with convincing production and authentic recording equipment leaves me in awe. This is hands down the greatest hoax I've seen yet. Was a lot of fun to fall for. I wish these were available on Bandcamp because I would definitely download them right away. The two songs that are currently out sound great, and I'm REALLY looking forward to Rome Falls. The preview clip of that is like actually amazing. Burn it All sounds awesome as well from the snippet we have, I really hope we get all of them eventually. Also MAN I just about made it into the video. I think I was just barely cropped out of a few shots. “underground” if theyre underground, underground must have a new meaning. i would feel bad being insulting, but i’ve seen what i need to see. they’re d bags to ppl. takes a few mins to google.

xXPunk PrincessXx Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 Much respect Panicland! Well fucking done, can't wait to hear the rest of the tracks. I can't believe how long this went on for, and how big this got. I've really enjoyed reading this thread.. So much effort went into this - Best prank ever! 😂

My ears just stopped working, right? I need answers 😂
That Dude Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 If these guys can sound that much like Green Day, I know a bunch of other singers who would benefit from sounding like him.

Redundantuserjinxboy Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 I actually wrote lyrics to Dollywhoop. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1XxLsYYvdz1faL9k1_z2-XTz17QFhOiRvcz-_Gmx4W3M/edit?usp=drivesdk
Red Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 If anyone wants this it's the highest quality version of the original artwork I could find (before they changed the band name to "A Green Day Fan Fiction"). Pretty confident it won't get better than this unless they upload a high res version of the vinyl cover they made. https://imgur.com/a/Ew3pv1Z Edit: I can't seem to get it to show up without clicking... sorry

steve46 Posted December 14, 2019 Posted December 14, 2019 But its a shame that a band tries hardly fake an album and would like to sound another band. Fan album is great but not in that way. Not with vocal faking. And we are the greatest idiots because we are paying them attention...

One thing that makes it impossible for me to relate to these songs is that I know they are a laboratory experiment. Both because it’s an “artificial” product based on sampling, these songs can’t be performed live in this form, at least without a computer doing part of the job. And also because everything that surrounds the sampling, from the lyrics to the music composition, can be catchy and make you remember but it’s made to just to be that. They are catchy, planned melodies or lyrics whose only scope is to make you member 21CB. They are cool, but they are still fake memberberries, not ever original ones I’m happy for the people who can enjoy this, and I still think that this is an impressive work from someone that has talent in working with music, but I honestly can’t understand how people can actually relate to this more than to Green Day. Of course it is just how I feel, nothing more

Of course it is just how I feel, nothing more I can't speak for everyone of course but the main reason for me is that those Panicland songs have heart and soul - something I absolutely can't feel while listening to FOAM and FRA. They feel empty and stale for me. I'm not saying GD didn't put any effort into the songs, but for some reason, it feels like it. There has been a very strange vibe ever since the FOAM and Hella Mega announcement, and Billie saying strange things in interviews (not liking long songs anymore or wanting to sound like Prince "because he's dead, so why not?!") constantly adds up to this. It just feels like the boys are not really behind this project and don't really care, and even if they do, I can't shake off these feelings. The MOOTIK songs with their very obvious reminiscence of the Green Day I've always known and loved now kind of fill the emptiness I felt after the long anticipation for new GD material and the disappointment that followed when I finally got it and couldn't relate to it at all.

Notice the difference in the interviews for even RevRad? How they seemed so grateful and passionate about it? Thank you for saying exactly how I have been feeling. MOTIK feels like a passion project and FOAM doesn't, for me it's really as simple as that. I like FOAM, I don't love it, but I absolutely LOVE Burn it all Down and Rome Falls to the point where I nearly cried at the thought of them never becoming real songs and being nothing but a prank.

I feel exactly the opposite The new GD songs may have a relatively simple composition, but in that relatively simple composition I can listen and read real emotions and messages coming from the band. They feel real, and I can interpret them and try to understand the feelings that brought to their composition. MOOTIK is fake, it’s lyrics and music created with the scope of sounding like 21CB, and eventually troll this community. There’s nothing to understand for me, no emotions to transmit, this has not been composed because that’s what Panicland wanted to compose as a band and as artists. And personally I feel this listening to those songs

I get where you are coming from, but I genuinely believe that Panicland wanted to make a fan fiction album first and foremost. sure they mentioned the prank quite a bit in the video, but I believe that there's more to it than that, and this was something they wanted to do. If they didn't give a crap about the songs or the work they had done creating them, there was nothing stopping them from being like "Well that was a funny prank, LOL" and throwing the songs in the trash and moving on, the fact that they didn't do that and are actually releasing the album for not only them but us GD fans really makes me respect the work they have done even more, and I am going to keep an eye on their stuff from now on because of it.
