AnonymWarnerGermany Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 I heard take a stand more often now, than FOAM and FRA combined :x

At what point is it still GD if you replace one or more or all of its parts with entirely similar parts? Deeply philosophical stuff. It is. Going deeper into this idea, you can get to the conclusion that Panicaland's Green Day might sometimes be more GD than GD themselves. Is Take A Stand more similar to your idea of how a green day song sounds than Nightlife? Most probably the answer is yes. This is some crazy stuff. edit: noticed how we were freed from caring about author or any intent behind the songs? @Bully Hoe looking at you If Take A Stand was real green day the two of us would be bitching about how it's Billie being vaguely political again, but looking at it like at another feature of what makes it a believable imitation of a Green Day song makes it not really matter.

Someone could have said the same, and probably did, about American Idiot or Warning tho. People changes, music changes, Green Day is Green Day, this is an amazing tribute from a band with talent that happens to be made of GD fans. Of course if you think that GD should sound like a mix of AI and 21CB, and you’ll always prefer that kind of music over anything else, you’ll love this. But Green Day is more than those two eras.
spider man. Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Lmao my comment from the fake insta is on the posted Instagram comments in the video. Heres to hoping it makes me famous!!!!1🤞🏻 I'm not even mad about this. I think it’s hilarious & the songs are GOOD. I just want them to release the whole thing so I can listen to it all.

Um... that's not really what was my point, but you're right, it's good that GD evolve their style. But I meant it just hypothetically, as an idea about the question of how much of one thing you can change for it to be the same thing.

While my personal wish would be for GD to sound like AI/21CB all the time, I totally agree that GD's entire catalogue, from 39/smooth to this upcoming FOAM (imo, with the exception of most of dos 😜) is just one gigantic magnum opus... I bet 10-20 years from now there are gonna be kids covering Fire Ready Aim at talent shows, loving the hell out of it

AnonymWarnerGermany Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 So at least 4 more songs to go. I cant descripe how much I want to hear Rome Falls.
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 I would scowl at the unfinished stuff too
AnonymWarnerGermany Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 They should make the whole album. That would go viral and stuff. I can see the Rolling stones headline "GREEN DAY FANS MAKE AN ENTIRE GREEN DAY ALBUM BY THEMSELF" or something like that But pls dont let us wait for Rome much longer
dannygreen Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 So sad that even if it's only an imitation there is more research, depth and innovation in these tracks than FOAM Take a stand is so hard to believe it's not Billie's voice, don't patronize me is not so similar instead except for the clean part before the solo
DookieLukie Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Yeah it is sad that the reception if this is like 100x more positive from fans than GDs new stuff. Maybe the band will see that and stop being lazy.
AnonymWarnerGermany Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 hey @Panicland can I sing backings in one of the songs? I know this won't happen but.. yeah. can I? 🧐

I don't want them to dwell on the past (like a lot people berated to us liking MOOTIK) but what they did was unique, only Green Day could have done AI, 21st, part of the trilogy and part of RevRad. Just being Green Day, being special and soar higher. Foam could have been done by another band, those records not. It's not about the genre but the uniqueness

Any album can be done by any band. It’s who does it first that matters. Green Day are among that top tier of bands because they consistently do great unique things first. The Beatles did that too. Like Billie Joe has said, “Eleanor Rigby is a simple song. But you didn’t fucking write it”.

Unique and memorable, they did first: Punk rage with Rock and Opera inspired by old concept albums but developed in an unique way with a brilliant storyline to represent our times . Foam it's generic rock'n'roll mixed with some pop elements, already done by 5000 bands before and nowadays. not bad but honestly forgettable
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Garage Green Day is fun too. Not everything they make has to be a magnum opus

At least, I'd like to see something a bit more explorated, maybe a bridge. Maybe it's because I'm not a huge fan of it but the first adjective that came to my mind when I first heard those songs compared to their past is LAZY

Its not that I dont like the new GD songs, but I love the stuff thats really "epic". The new Songs are just so.. boring :x not bad, but boring. The MOOTIK Songs are exciting. Very Exciting.

I mean that’s your personal taste and a very bold statement. I love AI and 21CB, I grew up with those records, but I consider Dookie, Insomniac and Nimrod better records than at least 21CB. There are songs in each GD record other than 21CB and AI that I definitely prefer to songs in both those records. Including FOAM. And we have heard 2 songs out of 10 from the new record.

Oh man, definitely. If I heard 2019-Billie sing the words "make this riot great again", I would be morally compelled to kick his balls. However, the line coming from Panicland is exactly what fanfiction often represents: canon is unfulfilling or just straight up sucks, so you imagine a reality where things are better and you flesh it out to the best of your abilities. I mean, you often talk about headcanon-ing things Green Day do that you don't like as "not happening". In this fanon reality, Green Day make good music, FOAM never happened, Billie stays true to his words and is not a radical liberal who watches too much Late Night television he bases his opinions on! In actual fiction, this is a lot easier because everything is an invention of someone's imagination and nothing is real. In reality, you need to disassociate or just have a excellent imagination and a very strong will lmao
AnonymWarnerGermany Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Green day releases new music and the fans dont like it very much. Panicland:

No, I love Dookie, I love insomniac, Warning is beautiful AI and 21St are taken as example only because it's their maximum expression in terms also of maturity. I talked about uniqueness, all past records had this. I'm not feeling in these 2 tracks because to my ears it's like listening to another band
AnonymWarnerGermany Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 I like every green day album. Even UNODOSTRE but I dont like the 2 new songs very much, and Im afraid the whole album will be like this.
DookieLukie Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 I like music with heart and effort. I liked Father of All. FRA is lazy and not even pop radio level good. THAT has me concerned. I don't care about sound as much as heart and effort, which Billie seems to not want to put into it now. His blase attitude is annoying for a product we're paying for. Again, imagine if any of us approached our jobs like Billie is approaching this album. "Eh just want to do the minimum. Simple work is the best work."
