So last night I gave a friend a listen to Father Of All Motherfuckers. This guy thought RevRad was kind of a blend album, much of the same and not really a fresh sound.

He heard the first 20 seconds of the song and said “wow! This I gotta check out!”

I noticed that a lot of people, who were not a big fan of Green Day’s last few albums, are really digging the new single.

I'm not surprised and figured that would be the case and that the band was aware of this.

My first thought about the new song was wow this is not targeted for me as a GD fan but not sure how their target is going to receive this.

A few days in and this is starting to feel like the old 00's days in regards to pushing their music. I saw a Green Day commercial last night on TV lol

I guess the album cover may not matter. The unicorn has not killed them just yet haha

If you search Green Day twitter searches, it’s about 50/50 of extreme views. People either love or hate what they’re doing currently.

But I think a lot of the haters are either GD superfans or people who always hated them and are using the opportunity to hate on them more.

It's not necessarily a bad thing. You can't make everyone happy.

I would say a heavy % of the 50 who don't like it are Green Day fans that still plan to go to the tour hahaha

Of course that stat is anecdotal

father of sounds better just a little bit faster (see the live versions) and it seems like billie doesn't really enjoy singing the song live, it looks like he's struggling with the verses on the kimmel performance, just watched it and somethings off about him, to me at least.

.. or it's just the missing guitar. 🤔

Not sure if this has been brought up before, but who the fuck is the second guitar player? I don't recognise him at all.

funny how you guys are trying Hard to start liking this song. It looks miserable.  I dont care about the genre, the song itself is Just pure shite.

Kevin Preston (Prima Donna frontman and Foxboro Hot Tubs and The Longshot guitarist). Probably just filling in for Jeff before the tour as he lives closer.

So you’re saying we’re liars? We don’t really like the song but we’re pretending we do? Right.

Yeah you can kindly fuck right off. I get not liking the song, that's cool. But to be a total cocksucker to people who like it by suggesting they're lying is just fucking dumb.

guys, i’ve been MIA lately rethinking life. is it normal to grow out of a band? should i not expect anything from middle aged men? i’m just confused tbh, most rock bands that are popular right now over use shit like drum machines and synths, and the rest are flat out just adult contemporary music lol. I flat out do not fuck with it, even lyrically it’s all just bleak with no irony or humor to it.

i like a lot of young bands like the frights, twin peaks etc, but they can’t save rock, as wonderfully talented as they are. The frights even remind me of early green day live, not as energetic by any means but they’re the only thing comparable. and swmrs... i’m sorry but they’re some laughable art house slop now, but even that’s generous. They’ve won over that community completely around where i live.

i’m 21 years old what the fuck is going on in music. is it done for?

Yes your taste can change, when I was your age my friends and I all liked rock, now they laugh that I haven’t grown as I still love it.  I say they’ve become boring old farts 😂😂.  There is good stuff out there, give Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes or Slaves - both British bands - a listen, I think they’re great and Slaves should have supported GD in 2017 but it was cancelled, they would have been great on the same bill.

Frank Carter and Slaves are both fucking amazing and if anyone in the threads not listened to them, get on it!

Frank Carter should open for Green Day (although there is a risk of stealing the show haha). Nah, I think it would make for an awesome concert. And I certainly much prefer him and the Rattlesnakes over The Interrupters.

Fuck the reviewers (do they like anything?). Make your own opinions

Three days and the song has almost a million views on youtube...

I really love it am just gutted we have to wait so long for the album!   I understand the Revrad was a little safe line and while I really like it, I felt they had more still to do but think it was necessary for where they were in life.  This feels like a rejuvenated band have come back kicking ass to me.

For me, FOAMF is the best song they've released since 2004.

I feel like they wanted to go to this Rock'n'Roll direction since FBHT, but did not have the courage or permission to commit. Maybe this is why FOAMF finally feels 'real' again to me. Even Still Breathing did not have this feeling. To me Breakdown & RevRad felt kinda blank – Forever/Somewhere Now excluded, which supports my theory.

I wouldn't say best song, but it has the best energy. Their GD releases since AI have lacked a lot of energy. This matches their side project releases, which had a ton of energy.

No need to speak to people so aggressively, leave it out please
